Ugh, why do you guys keep bringing that up?  :/ We get review after review basically saying it's very pre-trilogy. The program director literally wrote it's like being at Gilman in 1992. Two different people have said that now. Just please stop being so negative all the time...

because people feel like they have to troll about the triology because they're sooo fuckin punkrock and triology was too poppy.. well thats actually what my ex said, but i guess its what a lot of people said summed up

Yeah but we have had 3 years of trilogy talk - let it be.

I don't give two shits about being "punk rock" or whatever lol, I just hated the way his voice sounded on the Trilogy. Everything else was great.

People that re hoping for a 21CB/AI sound shouldn't be discouraged by all the comments about Bang Bang claiming its raw and Kerplunk/39-ish.

It's impossible for them to recreate the Dookie days sound, they're not kids anymore and not to mention the quality of the studios they record nowadays.

All these comments just confirm that the song is fast paced and punk rock, but Billie's voice and the production in general is likely to be similar to the trilogy or 21CB/AI.. It's going to be a curious mix.

Quality of the studios is kind of irrelevant, they could choose to record on analogue if they wanted to. Also, doesn't that description basically summarize the majority of the songs on the trilogy? Hell, some of the songs even recycled the melodies from older tracks of theirs.

And I swear if this album sounds anything like Uno, Dos, or Tre production wise, then I'm done with this band because that shit was awful.

I'm often one of the first in line to attack the Trilogy's production but seriously, isn't everyone tired of saying it over and over again?

Well, I mean, it's kind of the only thing there is to talk about at the moment, the band kind of left us all on a sour note (and never forget the fucking Christmas song).

Indeed. There's a separate Trilogy thread to beat that old carcass of a dead horse.

EDIT: this one

Yeah, it really needs to stop.

We have a thread for it. Please use it.

You're kidding?

You can't compare 39/Smooth's sound quality with the one in 21CB.

You can dislike the trilogy production or the songs but what I said about Billie's vocals is a fact, he's likely going to sound like the trilogy, 21CB and American Idiot because that's his voice now.

Also, I meant that the songs could be a mix between Trilogy and 21CB/AI.

Talk about the new fucking album then. I know the trilogy wasn't perfect but some of ya'll are acting so entitled, almost as if Green Day owe you the perfect fucking album. This shit is so annoying and has to stop already.

I simply love the "info" about the new song :-) I think I have been waiting for this the last 20 years.  Last year Tim and Billie shared stage again,  my biggest dream ever as a fan. Wow,  this is so exciting!!!

Also, isn't Jason White an official member of the band now? Why wasn't he in the promo photo?

He wasn't in many earlier promo pictures either. He prefers to stay on the background I think.

Wait, what are you talking about? I said if they wanted to they could absolutely record an album that has the same recording and production quality of something like Dookie. They don't have to use modern production equipment or techniques.

I love the trilogy so if there's hint of that in the new album I wouldn't mind haha.

But I would be a bit disappointed because I would rather have something new.

I don't remember anyone describing "Oh Love" as a "massive tune" though in the reviews? Also none of the reviewers have mentioned that is sounds like the trilogy, so there is that. I'm optimistic. I think the new single is going to be an epic, in your face, grungy punk record. The reviews so far are encouraging.

Nah, man. Demolicious is my exhibit A.

They can try but they will never sound like 90's Green Day again, I don't have a problem with that tho.

I don't think that has anything to do with that. I guess they simply just went to a concert. Trio is a classical composition :)

It referred to them being with three and the sheet collection for three instruments of some Armenian composer Billie was holding.

I don't think it'll be quite grungy, faster than that, but I do think they're finally going for that Exile on Main St. sound they've always talked about wanting which is definitely a good sign in my book.

I have been thinking about that, remember seeing a recent photo with "trio" written on a book or something

I have my doubts about Green Day ever producing something you could consider legitimately "grungy punk rock" at this point in their career lol

I have no issues with pop punk or accessibility or anything like that, but I honestly feel like some of you have a tendency to inflate Green Day's "edginess".
