No worries. Reviews don't tell much. These people review a score songs from a score artists every day. They sure as hell don't know every sonical difference between every single GD record. Just listen and judge for yourself.

Sure, but to me the review seems like something thrown together to describe the song so we get an idea how it sounds and it uses similar phrases  trilogy was described with. He doesn't say it's good or bad, he says it's simplistic and that's not very assuring to me.

It is pretty premature for the trilogy to be thought of as a pattern especially given that it is only one out of 11 albums.

I'm truly fucking devastated. Already.

So you are devestated that a song you have never heard is not going to live up to what you thought based on someone else's opinion of that song.

Thats a bit insane, at least listen to the song and have your own opinion before saying you are devestated.

When you like the Trilogy and Xmas Time Of The Year and you're totally fine if the new album sounds the same. :toocool:

Yeah, Blink-182, for example, released their newest album 'California' a few weeks back and they haven't really gotten out there much because of it. Little to no radio plays, the fans shunning them because Tom Delonge wasn't involved, so it all-around crashed and burned, unfortunately. Even if Tom had been involved, I still don't think the album would have blown up, because teens these days, the general source of music-purchasers, are more interested in half-naked women shaking their asses in music videos and listening to shitty rap that listening to something that was 'big' in the 90's-early 2000's.

As a fan of Blink, I loved their album, and am not too concerned about them hitting it big with a cache of recognition and love. As long as they know their actual fanbase loved it, that should be all that matters.

Bored to death is all over the radio

I totally agree. This is why I was so intrigued and excited about Heart Like A Hand Grenade. Despite how shitty it is, I still enjoyed at least getting a little glimpse into the recording of my favorite album of all time.

Absolutely. I've watched that documentary so many times just because it really is something special to get even a small glimpse of your favorite band making one of your all time favorite albums!

I would really like that, though it seems they haven't done documentaries about other post-Dookie records.

The feelings I have about the last 10 pages of this thread in a nutshell. Well said.

Speaking of Cuatro, that has me thinking. I wonder if they filmed a documentary again? With the trilogy we got a bunch of teasers when they were in the studio, but this time we've got next to absolutely nothing. Would be cool to have footage of what they've been up to!

That would be really cool. I eat that kind of shit up, no matter if it's "good" or not

Yeah well, the only thing they've released since 2009 was the trilogy and the Christmas song. I think it's too early to be devastated yet. Wary maybe, yes. But all we really know is one song title and one (!) review of said song. It's really too early to judge the entire album based on that.

I'm not judging the album, I'm just saying this doesn't indicate they moved on much, at least with this song. That makes it sound not-so-promising.

People are actually getting so ahead of themselves, it's like the album is being written off already and we've heard nothing

It looks like some people are traumatized by the Trilogy. I'd be disappointed too if the new album sounds like that, but i don't think it's gonna happen. I mean just because Uno, Dos and Tre weren't some of their best  albums, doesn't mean 12 will be bad or sound like them. I even think the lack of success of the Trilogy made Green Day realize they needed to make different music. And the DJ only said the song has a ''raw'' sound, we shouldn't get stuck on this word and assume things just because of it. The definition of ''raw sound'' is not ''Trilogy sound'' there are many kinds of ''raw sounds''.

It's a Green Day song. I'm ready to hate on it any day.

But fucking Billie Joe is hot.

You (and some others) did say it was going to be another trilogy. Just wait and see. That review doesn't mean anything. Also, as it has been said before, DJs like to compare something to the next most popular thing, so that people will like it. Reviews aren't always correct.

The trilogy was the exact opposite of "raw". It was polished bubblegum sound imo... Demolicious was more like it, but they were demos.

Exactly. Fucking Billie Joe should just fucking shut up and undress. They can play some Justin Bieber for him to dance to. I don't care as long as fucking hot Billie Joe just takes his shirt off ;)

Damit, I want Steven to record the bang bang your mom song xD I already wrote some music for it ^^

If this was actually serious I'd probably develop a blood clot in the brain.

If it sounded more like AI or 21CB he would say so. So I think assuming that Bang Bang is more likely to be a simple, stripped-down song isn't insensible. Saying I'm not so stoked about this is as relevant as saying I'm excited about it. We don't know if it's good or of it sucks so neither is more likely.
