New song "Bang Bang" coming August 11th

The reason I feel a little more optimistic about it sounding like the reviewer said is because he cited specific songs from Dookie instead of just being like "oh yeah guys, it's very Dookie-esque, totally cool, back to their roots."

Yeah. He also specifically cited Kerplunk and 1039 for their raw sound, so I think that a raw(er) sound is a given at this point. But we must hear it to see if it's true of course.

If he compares the sound with the early kerplunk and 1039, does he mean a raw thin sound? Because that doesn't sound like a wall of sound that will punch me in my face.

Jesus if Bang Bang sounds like burnout I may go nuts. Burnout is one of my favorite songs from dookie. I'm feeling very optamistic about Bang Bang and the album

I'll punch u in ur face.

Just kidding. I know what you mean, I really like that very high energy sound as well. Definitely hoping for a lot of that in this song and the album as a whole!

I assume if the song/album is political, BJ will put more of an effort into his lyrics than he did for the trilogy.

Just for the record, I liked your post because it had a punch-in-the-face attitude.

Guys, imagine concerts with less polished songs and more raw guitar sounds :woot:

Remember how some reviews of "Know Your Enemy" said it sounded like an out-take from Dookie?

I feel like everyone wants to say a new Green Day song sounds like something from Dookie but then it never sounds like it could have been on Dookie.

Well it can never really sound like it could be on Dookie, Billie sounds way different now.

Since his first impression is all we have Id like to think its not only similar sounding to Dookie but hopefully with all the added goodness they've learned over the years being musicians.. so maybe its like a remastered video game type deal.. some old school shit with a mix of present stuff creating some really great shiff? either way Im excited beyond belief!

Thanks, you always put such a fresh perspective on things. I'm not So disappointed Anymore.

I'm a little bit nervous too because it is compared with Dookie. I also like AI and 21CB more but I think the song will be amazing!

July 30th. We can always assume Tré posted it who, almost certainly, has no concept of how days of the week work.

After this first review, we can only have more expectations from this single (then from the record)

They probably spend a lot of time browsing GDC

I'm just excited because it will most likely be a really fast rockin' song that will be exciting to hear on the radio! :D It's never going to really sound like Dookie or their early stuff and I'm ok with that.

Demolicious came close enough. I mean as close as it possibly could considering it was the trilogy

To be honest, every time they say "this new record sounds like dookie" (which they say every time!!!) I can hardly believe it. Because: dookie wouldn't be dookie without billies teenage-slang-singing.

Bang bang won't sound like dookie. It just won't.

Unless billie brings back his teenager singing skills haha, i hope not, i love the way he sings on dookie, but he's improved so much over the years)

That's because they were demos
