So if @Steven Seagull isn't impressed with the single (which he has apparently heard because for some reason Slovenia gets them before the rest of the world, according to his status), then that's a good sign right? :D

Anything moving away from the Trilogy sound is a good thing at this point.

If seagull hates it, it's an amazing song.

I got really excited when I read he didn't like it :D

He's definitely trolling though.

I thought so too, but is @Jane Lannister?

Oh, and I don't know if it has been said yet, but according to a German music blog, Rob Cavallo produced it.

"Bei den Aufnahmen wird wieder Rob Cavallo seine Finger im Spiel haben. Dieser produzierte nicht nur die letzte Trilogie, sondern auch “Dookie” aus dem Jahr 1994. Auf diesem Album befindet sich auch die wohl bekannteste Single “Basket Case”."

which means something like

"Rob Cavallo will be involved with the recordings. He not only produced the last trilogy, but also "Dookie" from the year 1994. Their probably most famous single "Basket Case" can be found on this album."

But I have no idea if this is true. They didn't mention any source.

Looks like Rob has been producing again. I know none of those articles share a source of where they got that info from, but why else would both an Italian and German music blog say such thing. They must have gotten their info from somewhere.

Maybe they just assumed it because Rob produced almost all of them. The person who wrote the blog article obviously had no idea how the album sounded like, because they said something like "we'll have to wait and see if the sound will be close to their old work, but it would be preferable" and nothing in there hinted that they had any contact with the band, because they were only writing about what the band disclosed to all of us - except the producer thing.

And the blog belongs to the german version of the Vice magazine.

I guess they just assumed that he is. One Russian article said that Rob's producing it, because quote "Rob said 5 songs are finished and they sound awesome". And that's total bullshit. Rob only said that Billie showed him a couple of songs and that was like a year and a half ago.

I personally wouldn't believe any of this articles until we got a confirmation from RS, Kerrang or the band themselves.

Why does everyone hate Rob so much? I don't get it.

I don't hate Rob, I just don't want him to produce this album.  He is too close to them professionally and personally.  When you get that close, you can lose your objectiveness.  I would like to see them have a more objective producer

Me too.

I guess they only assumed it, the German article  (only one of them that I could read) seems like a generic mag article written by someone who isn't informed very closely but wants to make it big news.

Before the trilogy everyone wanted Rob Cavallo to come back and Butch Vig to be gone hahahah

I thought about it long and hard and I think I would personally prefer a producer, who would push them to try something new. So at this point I'm not even against Will.I.Am.

Because, let's be honest, if the band would write something as good as AI - no producer in right mind would say that it's shit and they need to write other stuff. But if the material is.. meh, not so good, at list they'd be able to produce it in a new and interesting way.

It's not going to be 'big news' here anyway, not even if the album comes out, I think :D Sadly, the media doesn't care so much anymore. That was one of the only two german articles I could find on Bang Bang.

I also notice that the news about the new single doesn't really get picked up here. Makes me think the release of the new album might just blow away without any Dutch person noticing.

I'm calling bullshit on those articles. They are, as stated before, based on quotes dating back to the HOF introduction. Rob is a very close friend, of course he has heard songs (and probably the entire album before anyone else besides those involved in recording/mixing/mastering). I think the general sound of BANG BANG will hint a lot as to who has produced. I'm personally hoping for Butch Vig.

Yup. It's the same here in Belgium (at least in Flanders). None of the Flemish radio stations have posted anything about it on their sites and those I mailed about it on Monday haven't responded (yet).

Why was that? I thought Butch did a great job on 21CB.

Something about Rob knowing "the Green Day sound" better, as he's produced most of their albums. But I do agree with that.

Well, he knows them better, but he might be too close to push the envelope and offer objective criticism during the process. I suspect that his proximity to the band has been more of a curse to the Trilogy's overall sound than a blessing. If they want to start fresh, an outsider with credentials might be just what they need. I definitely understand your yearning for Rob, but someone else seems better for a comeback album.

I've heard theories that Rob purposely made the trilogy shit because they used Butch Vig for 21CB but I doubt he's that petty

These articles are just a glorified version of what we're doing in this thread :P

anyway, #TeamCavallo

Just emailed another radio station that specializes in rock music, since the other one didn't bother to answer. I mentioned that in the email and hope that they will take the bait and give me an answer to look better than the other radio station
