Yes why support your favorite band and reward them for their effort and hard work. I mean, yeah. They're rich. But still :/

yeah i mean you're right :/ clearly if i download a leak instead of going out and buying a cd that i'll never play i'm not supporting them at all?

i have spent lots and lots and lots of money on green day shows and merch over the years and i'll continue to do so. doesn't stop me from wanting a leak :P

I'll be pre-ordering whatever the most expensive bundle for the new album is anyways, so I really don't feel guilty for downloading a leak a week early.

My preference is to wait - I mean I did suffer through nearly 300 pages of the GD in the studio thread - what's another week:lol:

Booklets! That's the reason why I'm buying CD of my favourite artists.

Ok, I'm kidding. Music on CD is in better quality than in mp3 file, even if it's 320kb file.

Yeah, CDs are better sound quality and you don't need to strain your ears working out what Billie's saying 'cause you can just read it.

I've just been Googling lyrics for so long that I just realized that I won't be able to do that when the new album is released, haha.

Downloading a leak seems so sleazy to me.  Kind if like not paying bills or not paying back someone that owes you money. I could never do,that

I've been checking iTunes several times a day to see if the preorder is,up

at this point i'm so excited for new green day i would take the shittiest, lowest quality leak ever and be totally happy with it

i just don't get the guilt that people feel over leaks and every time green day release a new album it makes me laugh. i'm not going to pay 9.99 for a download of something i could have had a week earlier for free :P

I will scour the depths to hear Green Day leaks as soon as they hit anywhere on Earth, and not feel bad about it at all.  But I also run out and buy the album as soon as it hits shelves.   Some bands I download songs by, and better bands I download the whole albums by.   My top shelf bands get a hard copy album sale from me every time.   Currently there are about 14 artists that I will run out and buy their album like that.

When 21st Century Breakdown and the Trilogy came out I had every song memorized long before the release date.   With American Idiot I had heard the title track, Holiday and that was it.   And before that leaks didn't really happen like that, or not to my knowledge.    Was Warning, Nimrod, Insomniac or Dookie leaked at all?   Are any of us old enough to remember?   :)

"(Insert City) GET YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!!!!"

"SAY HEY OH!!!"

"SAY HEY OH!!!"

"BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!"

I'm pretty sure he's Australian. They do things differently outside of 'Murica.

I always sniff the booklet as soon as I get it out of the wrapper.   What a smell!

I'm happy to listen to a leak as long as it's good quality. I mean, it's going to end up on pirate bay anyway, so I don't see the difference. Of course I will still buy the CD. I used to pirate music before I could afford it, but it made me get into bands, go to their concerts and in some cases has turned me into a life long fan. Pirating isn't all bad. It's also why spotify is such a great idea (which I now pay for).

My take on it is that it's fine for some bands because they can pull huge crowds on tour, but some older/less well-known artists can really suffer from illegal downloading because they don't get as much media coverage and don't generate the same kind of revenue from touring.

No matter how you look at it, it is stealing. It doesn't matter if the band is big or not.  They have earned the right to sell their music

I haven't listened to that in forever... Thanks for posting it. I think that is the sound I'm hoping this new album goes for.

Even if I did listen to the leak (if there even is one), there's no doubt about it that I'll be buying the single and the album when they come out anyway. It'd just be like listening to it a week early then paying when you can, like a sort of preview. It's not like I'd hear the leak and go "HAH! Fuck you, Green Day! I've heard this single once, now I will never buy anything from you again"

As much as people say it's a dick move, it wouldn't be like downloading the whole album without buying a copy. And I assume 99% of people here will be buying the full album when they can anyway.

I agree with you if it's music you like and are going to listen to a lot. People should be able to sample a song or album before they buy it (at the very least get 30 seconds -1 minute of each song). Nobody should have to pay money for something unless they know what they are getting.. I Wouldn't equate it borrowing money and not paying it back, or not paying bills .. Unless it's something you really enjoy and are listening to a lot on your own.
