Alright, good point.

Though I can't listen to lostprophets either. Whenever I remember the songs I also think about Ian Watkins raping a baby.
It can be much more easier to listen to Green Day as a republican I suppose.

Hey, if Ted Nugent can do it, those of us who are less ardently conservative can do it as well.

Anybody start wondering about a music video if it is about gun control? That would be interesting.

People who've been calling/emailing radio stations: what exactly have you been asking/hoping to find out?

This is a difficult climate to do political stuff well in, if it's actually about gun control I hope it's fairly nuanced. I'm all for it but it's riskier of course.

As far as I know, some bands have been putting out relatively violent politically-charged music videos lately. For instance, Anthrax's "Zero Tolerance" video and Megadeth's "The Threat Is Real" clip. Maybe Green Day will go that route for shock value? I can't really see them doing that, though.

By the way, do we know whether they record this album with Rob Cavallo or someone else?

Same, I could see metal bands really getting away with that, but I doubt Green Day would. They could do it more "tastefully"?

We don't any other stations playing it for sure.  People are asking their local stations and we're waiting for work back.

I'm so excited. The waiting to wait for a release date is over! Now we just have 11 more days to go!

My immediate reaction is that the song will carry a political message to it about guns and what not in the U.S. which has me excited. I really hope this album is something I can cling on to during these ridiculous times in the U.S. and the world. The Decemberists had a great song about the Newtown school shootings, and I'm curious to see what Billie has to say about the current state of affairs.

Also, I immediately thought of this song from Thunderball when I heard the title:

Just asking if any other stations are getting the song.  It isn't really a big deal for me, see above post.  Just curiosity.

I'd be surprised if their music video would be literal (or even vaguely related) to the meaning of the song.  Looking at their past videos it doesn't seem to be what they do.

Okay first: what the fuck?

Sometimes I wish I could still like a band even if I disagree with what their band members stand for, but I can't. Once a band member is ruined for me, especially the singer, I can't enjoy the band anymore or their music. Everytime I listen to the songs, all I can think of is how much I dislike them. Happened to me with 30 Seconds to Mars - they're not sex offenders or anything (although some claim Jared Leto is, so I don't know) but I can't listen to their songs anymore because they seem so fake to me. Idk I always create a strong emotional bond to everything the band stands for and once something picks at it, it all falls apart. :/ That's why I'm glad I was able to stick with Green Day for so long ... my entire outlook on the world and my life would change if that bond was ruined. But they haven't disappointed me so far and I don't think they ever will :)

About the album: I've heard so many people say that they want another American Idiot (not just the sound mixing but like ... the American Idiot standard. a fucking sensation) and I think it's becoming a peeve of mine. All I can think of is the Band's struggle while creating 21st CB, I mean Billie did say that they became sick trying to live up to the American Idiot hype. So I hope they chilled it. I don't mind if it's not American Idiot Volume 2 or another 21st Century Breakdown, as long as the lyrics feel honest, not forced, and have meaning, I'll be happy with it. :)

I've been saying I've heard rumours about the new song coming on the 11th and if they'll be getting it.

I agree, to an extent. I don't have any problems with Billie right now; I respect his political opinions. However, I just got to the part in Living Like a Runaway in which Lita Ford talks about fucking and doing drugs with Glenn Tipton. It's definitely changed my outlook on him, and not necessarily for the better, although it hasn't affected my enjoyment of the band's music. I agree about needing that emotional bond as well. I think that it amplifies the amazingness of already-good music, at least for me. It's part of the reason that I immediately became obsessed with GD. I loved their personalities in interviews--funny, open, and sincere.

I think it's fully legitimate to write about politics this time with all the terror, wars and far-right parties. I mean, it's tough for the whole world now, isnt it... I can see how a couple of social/political questions can make a songwriter's (or any person's) blood boil so much they have to write a song about it.

Everyone asking about different radio stations, can't someone just email the Beeb and see what come from that. If the Beeb are going to play it, many of the local and national ones in your locality will likely be similar, if not the same and you'll be fine.

No, don't misunderstand me. I would totally prefer an album with lots of political songs. I love it when bands (not just bands though, celebrities too) have the courage open their mouths about topics that concern the world and share their honest opinion and what they think of it. It shows that they know the world outside their music-bubble exists and that they care. One of the reasons I'm such a huge fan of Billie's Instagram. What I'm saying is that I would be okay with an album that's not political or AI and 21stCB standard.

Me too, hope this album blows up like American idiot did. Well, not that large. But definitely bigger than breakdown and the trilogy were. If that happens though, it'll be tough getting tickets to their shows. It's already tough enough lol

So annoyed at the fact that I have Love Shack and Jessie/Ariana/Nicki's Bang Bang in my head thanks to this band/this post.
