Probably a good idea to play it for radio management for advice on single(s).  Whomever was responsible for 'Oh Love' as the lead single killed any chance of the trilogy being commercially successful IMO.

I think Oh Love is one of the catchiest songs of the trilogy as a whole. Lazy Bones not being a single however I disagree with.

Idiot Club in the past has been super helpful for me in scoring tickets. So I would sign up as soon as you can, really. Also, I bet they've already picked the first single.

People forget that Oh Love was a pretty big hit that summer. They had successful TV appearances and that epic performance of Let Yourself Go at the MTV VMA's when all the mosh pit fans got up on stage! Had it not been for iHeart and Billie's rehab, the trilogy would've been a smash hit!!! Having said that, what kind of song would you like the first single to be? Fast paced? A piano ballad?

Blink album leaked early. I dont know if this has to do with the radio previous appearances.

Nope. It was likely someone from a music store. I saw photos of stores getting their shipments over a week before the release.

There was zero chance those albums were going to be a "smash hit".  Likewise for this new one.  Green Day has a loyal following of people like us here, but don't generate a lot of mainstream attention anymore.  It isn't their fault, the landscape has just changed a lot since the 90s and early 00s.

Who do I believe?

It's not essential to sign up right now but when they do announce something I think it's worth it for presales alone. I still have to renew my membership, I likely will in the next few days.

What's the rush though? They don't always do a presale for every show so I prefer to wait until they announce that they're doing one for my show. No harm in joining earlier either but it just means your membership expires sooner. But I do agree it's worth joining for presales, I've always successfully got tickets in them and nothing beats already having them before the general sale.

Didn't it leak like 5 days before? That's not really early. And yeah as Matt said it was because of stores getting the cd not radio stations.

I know the lines can get a bit blurry when speculating and comparing it to previous releases, but for pure talk about the Trilogy and how it should have been done take it here

Wasn't it you who said they haven't renewed their membership for three years and are still part of the Idiot Nation? :P

Oh God, the best of luck to you. (Wouldn't it be awful though if they played a secret show within the two weeks but it would be so secret you would never even find out about it oops. Although as proven, Green Day aren't very good at keeping secrets, so I don't think there's need for worry lol)

No rush, but on the off chance they announce a surprise show in your area, you're going to want to be a member.

I hope they're getting feedback from the radio places that have listened to it. Last few first single picks have been terrible.

if they're looking for first single feedback then that probably means it will be a while until we get the single, right? I imagine they'd want to have a music video ready when they release the single and that will take some time to produce

I think they should really pick a kick ass faster song that sounds quintessentially Green Day. Which I'm sure is what they try to do every time, haha. But I really want them to get off to a good start with this album.

I agreed to go see ZZ Top with hubby, in anticipation of a GD tour.  So now I can let him know that he owes me every concert between Boston and Philly.  He will be so happy.

I would kill to see ZZ Top.

I am going August 31, 4th row seats.  It should be really great.  But I am using it over hubby's head since it is his favorite band.  That way we get to go see my favorite band, more than once.

I was actually quite pleased when Oh Love was announced as the first trilogy single, as from the crappy phone recordings we'd heard of it in small clubs it was the song that most intrigued me. Turns out that song (as with a lot of the trilogy) seemed to work a lot better if it stayed in a small venue, and Stay the Night would have made more commercial sense (even though my immediate reaction to hearing that really early soundcheck version of it was "is that it?").

Fair about Know Your Enemy though - a song that actually works really quite well in the context of the album, but standing alone on its own merits as lead single it was very underwhelming.

"Andres"? No more "Fuzz"? Is someone hoping for another Twitter shoutout from BJA?? :D

That's exactly what I want them to do.

I'm very jealous of you, haha. It sucks being a teenager with no means who is financially bound to their parents. I had to beg for weeks to even be allowed to go to the Megadeth/Amon Amarth show, and it's only in Worcester and will probably be cheaper than a Green Day concert.

I was actually talking to the guy who leaked it that whole Friday. He sent it to me before leaking it to the masses. He went to a record store that fucked up having it on the shelves a week early.

yes, I know that feeling, it was awhile ago for me, but I remember it well.  I will try and record some for you, at least get Billy Gibbons on guitar.

How do you guys think the album will do? Could it be possible that it would sell like 21st Century Breakdown did?
