Wow. I'm just surprised there is someone here (no offense to the awesome people of GDC but he is not exactly a GD pair) that knows who the great Leonard Cohen is.  Are you a fan?  Great poetic man.  A lyricist of the highest caliber.

He does/did indeed need the money but as a promoter and a man that has seen and been to more concerts than most, I can say with authority that he loves to perform and does a pretty good job of it for a man well into his 80s.

Paul still rocks and sings with the best of them and don't miss a chance to see him at every turn.  I've seen him live now like 20x throughout my life.  First time was in the late 90s at Earl's Court while visiting London on a gig.  That was pretty fucking cool.

The next show was in Liverpool and it was all I had to not go see Paul in his hometown but I was working in London.  Still Earl's Court was amazing but nothing will beat having seen him at the Hollywood Bowl and Dodger's Stadium.  Oh wait, Earl's Court beat Dodger's Stadium because it was Paul just miles from Abby.  Amazing.

Back to Green Day.  WOO HOO!

There are a lot of us here who are over 100:happy:

I expect this will be its own thread once they announce tour dates, but is anyone planning on doing the whole tour?

Then I would have to quit my job & end up broke. So no. Maybe 5 shows or something? Depends on where they end up playing and how the dates fit with work.

Probably 2 or 3 of the UK shows and then maybe a festival/stadium date if they do them. To do the whole UK tour I would have to take all my holiday in one go, and I reckon it would cost in excess of £1000? And probably much more if you want to do it comfortably. Ouch. That is an unfortunately large % of my salary.

I'll be happy to go to one xD

Tbh even if I was loaded don't think I would want to see them more than 5 times, but not 5 in a row cause the show's would be pretty much the same, but if they were doing different stuff like secret shows then hell yeah!

You can do it on the cheap, I've mastered the art of budget green day following haha.

Megabus cheap ass travel, hostels at around £6 a bed, stock up on their free breakfast in the morning, asda/ tesco own brand snacks and juice for the queue and a bag of chips on way back lol.

I did the 21BD and AI UK dates on that and the only big expense was tickets. ( it helped that I blagged guest list at the odd show).

Since i turned 30 though I would skip megabus ( it is quite gruelling at times, especially in summer if air con is broke) and my husband has already been drafted in to drive me lol.

Doing it on the cheap has led to some good stories too and meeting some awesome people at hostels etc.

I have even hitchhiked a tour before, but I wouldn't recommend it now, that was like 1998 when it was a bit more accepted.

I don't think I'll ever be able to afford a whole tour (also not sure I want to deal with crazy UK fans that often, haha) but I do really want to travel. I'd love to see them in the US again even if it's just a few shows. Not sure how it'll work with uni though, very inconvenient of the band to tour in my final year :P

Same for me! I'll seriously be so bummed if I cannot go to a close by show because of uni :ermm:

I hope to do at least 3 European dates this time, so hopefully it works out

Yeah, this! I was really hoping it'd be after I graduate but looks like it won't. I'm starting my dissertation now so I can leave at short notice without worrying too much about the deadline, in case there's a secret show or something.

You're right, that's actually very good motivation to start working on mine promptly

They could easily not get to the UK/Europe until next summer though.

I suspect that'll be the case. Traditionally (BIAB, AAF, 99R) they have done their European leg (at least mainland) in the late spring and summer following the album release. I expect them to do major festivals like Rock Am Ring, Pink Pop, Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury and Rock Werchter in late early to mid-2017.

It's definitely possible. They headlined it in 2005.

I'd rather they did there own show even at like Glasgow green. When I saw them last at T, the sound was terrible and the crowd was really bad.

As long as it's not February as I'll be 9 mths pregnant, I'll do a few, likely Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle etc but prob not London and south, I'll have a baby to look after lol

My parents saw the Charlatans - and were in the pit - a few weeks before my mum gave birth to me, you'll be fine :P

Same! I was on the right hand side pretty low down, the view was fantastic.

As for the next tour, I don't anticipate seeing them more than once or maybe twice, but I'd go as many times as I possibly could if I got the chance.

You would think 8 shows in a row would get boring, but I really loved every single one. It's an adventure... an exhausting one.

Don't see them playing T in the park, think it's glory days are behind it, couldn't give tickets away this year and sales were really down last year.  May be due to being at the new venue, but it seems to be pretty shambolic.

And the mysterious deaths from possibly dodgy drugs might not help, even though other festivals have seen similar things and been unaffected in years after.

Also they have somewhat moved away from the rock/punk/pop punk genres in favor of indie/mainstream/pop/dance acts in more recent years.

Last one I attended was 2005 GD and there really hasn't been much that has made it worth it since then.

I remember hearing a rumour that they wouldn't be back as they weren't supposed to set the drum kit on fire and did anyway haha. No source as was ages ago I heard that so not sure on its legitimacy!

At 21stCB tour, their team added incredibly random explosions / pyro for almost the entire setlist (some of them scared the hell out of me).

Hope they don't have the same idea with Bang Bang, a bomb for each "bang" they lyric possibly have.

I mean, I like these effects but not in the middle of the song for each emphasis chord.

A wet dream set list that would be (of course BB and RevRad aren't going to be played 4 times during one show). Scattered, Walking Contradiction and Armatage Shanks are criminally neglected on setlists. I would like even more Nimrod songs besides Good Riddance. Uptight or the Grouch would sound nice live.

I don't think they've ever played Uptight live, they should, and maybe they will considering they've only just started playing Stuart & The Ave.
