Good thing that they'll probably not gonna be here during this tour, I much prefer European crowds. It was the same here in 2009 when I got to the barrier and had to give it up, just wasn't enjoying it and swore to never try to get right in front of Billie anymore. I might try Mike's side next time, though I really enjoyed the show last time from a bit more far away, having space to jump and move around is so great! Beerjeezus
I'm trying to get to the center of the stage or to the catwalk if there is one. I doubt there will be many crazed girls this time around (hopefully, I really don't wish to get treaded down by a crowd of screaming little girls but on the other hand I hope little girls will fight for the front because that's the only way I can see and I can dare push them. There's no way I'm fighting fully grown people )

I got 2nd row close to Billie and I honestly have no idea how I even survived it, it was awful. I decided to stay a bit further for my next gig and it was much better. 2 hours ago, Billie Hoe is my hero said: UK fans are crazy whatever band it comes to. That's what I've found, too. The crazy girls are the worst for outright violence and queue jumping, the older people are more likely to be sneaky than aggressive. Not that there are no exceptions to those rules, of course. It was the guy next to me I had a problem with at Shepherd's Bush, he kept bringing his elbow down in my face and hitting me because I was being pushed into him. Glad I wasn't near the guy who was apparently headbutting people, fuck that.
sara_gd
It depends on the country a lot. You won't get anywhere near the front in Italy if you're not there at least the night before, two nights is safer if you're trying to get front row. Apparently in the US you'd get barrier just showing up in the same day in the morning and not even really early. Just extreme cases, it depends in every country. I think it also depends in the type of venue and on the time of the year / weather.
Lizzie Atwell
I tend to favor being down mike's side, less compacted, less 'screamers' and still a great view of the full stage. Billie moves around so much on stage anyway if you want to see Billie you will its also handy being there if you want to see the end part when Billie goes solo at the end of the catwalk, as it's not so packed it's possible to drop back so you have a decent view for the end. Photos are good from the side too, I got some really stunning photos from the Shepard's Bush show from in front of Mike. Even got decent ones of Jason from there. This tour I'll be taking it easy though, I'm due my first child in Feb so hoping its at least a month after that so I can jump around a bit haha. Omg this. Shepard's bush was ridiculous, a girl behind me kept purposefully pulling my hair to get me to move, when that didn't work she started digging her nails in to my side and kicking my heels! I still didn't move haha.

Here there's absolutely no point in camping cause entrance is gonna be unorganised and chaotic (especially in certain venues) anyway. The one time I decided to get to the venue early (11-ish), an hour before doors were supposed to open the whole queue was pushed back by police to preform "territory sequrity check". Needless to say, queue became complete chaos and it was awful.

Like what the fuck? There were also lots of asshole guys just shoving everyone around and being really aggressive. I eventually went further back because I couldn't breathe. That was a 1-off though, all the other GD gigs I've been to have had a pretty reasonable crowd even right in the middle at the front. Lol 2 nights!? I think I would rather be so sleep deprived by that point that I would just faint and miss the show! I probably would prioritise sleep over Green Day (or anything tbh), so..... Dakke
Based on my experience at concerts and festival main stages, it's better to aim for a spot in the middle before the first band starts to play and then gradually move forward as people leave after a band has done their gig. I haven't managed to get to the very front this way, but something like 10th row with a good view is in my opinion better than being squashed against the barriers. Not so badass, just Glaswegian and stubborn its not the worst I've had by far but was really annoying. The worst GD injury for me was Manchester LCC 2010 show. It's the only time I've been pulled out. Some idiot guys were just causing trouble and kicking people etc. They managed to catch me right above my ankle bone on the side, I managed to last until basket case then went to med tent, it was badly swollen but I managed to last through Wembley and Glasgow shows with it strapped up! to be fair out of 50 shows, I've only had maybe three really bad ones with that kinda stuff so not a bad ratio! There was a LOT of bitching going on in the queue etc. Some people were basically saying that others didn't deserve to be at the front as they were 'new' fans or because they had seen GD before they shouldn't go to the front to let others have a go. Both ideas are stupid, if you buy a ticket, go where you like! You have as much right to enjoy the show whether you only know the trilogy or have been following them since 1989! Hopefully people have calmed down a bit in that regard for this tour.
Second favourite son
There's a certain amount of etiquette involved in being in the standing area at gigs, and it's incredibly annoying when it's not followed. It is very often the teenage girls who are overexcited and don't understand the implied code or the older teenage guys who've had a bit to drink that are the problem. Of course everyone wants to be at the front, but you should never do anything to move them from their place. If they move on their own, grab the spot, if they ask you to hold it then do your best but make no promises. But don't push them out the way. If someone gets hurt, worry about helping them before taking their spot. And respect other fans - just cos they aren't standing there screaming, doesn't mean they aren't enjoying the show, and vice versa. I'm lucky in that the only time I've ever been hurt in the pit (not at green day) I was helped out to the side. Then everyone else carried on having fun without me being in their way - better for everyone! Having just gone on about etiquette, I should probably point out that I have a younger sister, so I have no problem with physically moving annoying and disrespectful girls out of the way, and telling them exactly why I'm doing it. At the Emirates a guy pushed my mother out the way and then stood in front of her - he was a good head taller than her so could've seen just as well from behind her. Nobody pushes my mummy, so needless to say the guy found himself similarly displaced from his position - mosh pits are great for building momentum. Hoping the behaviour on this tour will, in general, be better, but I'm not holding out too much hope. In terms of queuing, I'm happy to get there any time on the day/night before, but I can't see myself queuing up more than 24 hours before. I like to think (possibly deludedly) that I have a life

At the Emirates we eventually moved to the unreserved seating - downside of being with mother. We could see the show fine, but the T shirt gun and TP gun don't reach far enough, and you're never gonna get up on stage. I'd say it was more like watching the show rather than being a part of it - that's how I normally feel when seated. Don't get me wrong, it was still awesome, but I just feel it would've been even better in a decent standing spot. 2 minutes ago, Dakke said: At my latest arena show (a Bob Dylan gig, so not much moshpit action going on) I could see them from the left side, but the view wasn't spectacular. Joe.
Hope they play Milton Keynes again in the uk, for FF it was all unreserved standing, if you got there early you got the pit. Plus you got front row if you ran and that seemed to work well, doing this meant the pit wasn't too bad, guys who just wanted to get close to the band (like me) got to the front and could just stand and dance or whatever, and people that mosh were further back. Lizzie Atwell
I have been seated at a GD show once, I was doing all the UK dates (2009) and hadn't managed to get Sheffield before standing sold out as was buying the other venues in that time. I have to say I quite enjoyed being able to just view the show, no queueing, no hassle, could go and get a drink and come back without losing spot etc. It was a nice break but if I was only going to one or two shows I wouldn't have enjoyed it. Its much better being part of the crowd, the atmosphere is better and you feel more involved.
