I'm not backseat modding, I just want to talk about the new album.

The problem is that we're gonna run out of ideas to talk about eventually since there's not much info about the album yet..

I just had a massive block of catching up on this thread time so here's what I got so far

Off topic but congrats to Matt on that color change I spotted

And as far as the surprise album drop idea goes, I think they mentioned it on Static Noise when I heard it like months ago but after the lack in promotion the trilogy got it might not be the best idea to do zero promotion at all and drop the album randomly

during the trilogy process, jason joined the band, like "officially" since he has been listed as the 4th member the 1st time and so on

will be nice to see how this works out for the new album (:

Lollapalooza replayed Green Day's 2010 performance between shows about every 15 minutes. If I could post a video I would. I took one

I think it's pretty interesting and should be posted here :)

to clarify: will only the radio staff get to listen to the new songs, or will it be played over the radio? matt mentioned on GDA that it's popular for wrists to do this now "to see what their listeners like best" when trying to pick a lead single.

then maybe we should wait until there is something to talk about and not spam the thread

The news was that it would be a private playing for the staff.

Only the staff.  It's a private listen for them.  Nobody (as yet) knows when or where the radio debut for us will be.

I also can't wait to see the new visuals, too. The album art , the video, and and especially  photoshoot pictures!

Yes! My 3 computers need new Green Day wallpapers!

So do we think "one week" is accurate and we'll know something next Friday or are we not taking that seriously?

Give the fans a first listen so they can tell you if the album is good and then release the album :P

the user who posted that admitted that it was a troll post. They've had posts since 2004, but in a server merge or board transfer the posts got lost. It was probably when a bunch of people lost a chunk of their rep about a year ago.

I want the cover of the album to be very artistic and well thought out. I don't want it to be a picture them walking down the street. Cough* warning cough*

I think it's time for a simple cover, like the one in American Idiot.

If they get too creative with stuff like Dookie or Insomniac... Idk.

Yeah but they also did some suspicious stuff after that, like modifying the post (Redacted) and dropping other "hints".  Something just smells off with the whole thing where I don't think it is your garden variety troll.  And they never explained what "one week" meant either, so...

Today is the end of the festival in Chicago, but it will be in Berlin in September. We'll see :) I'd say it's not impossible.

You're surely not the only one but holy shit why California is so hated? I blame Tom DeLonge departure and Matt Skiba. Some people jus't can't handle changing.

I'll keep on loving the Trilogy and California if you excuse me :tired:

It would've been fine if not for John Feldmann's production.

Imagine him doing Green Day's new album. I'd say that's one of the worst-fitting producers they could go with, right up there with will.i.am

I think headlining at Lollapalooza next year is a lot more likely.

Given what we know, I would say that an official announcement very soon is highly likely

A couple weeks before Dos was released I remember reading an article which was basically just like the situation we will probably get soon: a radio station got to listen to the album and then they wrote an article discribing the album as well as the songs themselves. It was a nice read and it definitely got me excited for Dos - and this is what matters, to get people excited for the record so they'll buy it.
