Yeah that photo flatters it but the quality is disappointing in reality, it has a big hole in the armpit. It would be one of my favourite GD shirts but I rarely wear it which is a shame. Most of their shirts are really decent.

I usually like Black tshirts so I won't wear that one lol

Didn't even think of it that way, even better . It always makes me think of that "like a dog [horrible fart noise] that just pissed on the barbecue" line in Sick of Me as well (incidentally there was an interview around that time where Billie mentioned that he had actually pissed on a barbecue recently lol). But of course no one ever complains about that since it's not on the trilogy, they're allowed to have funny/silly lyrics on other albums :P

I complained about it at length a while ago. :P we had a conversation regarding how it was recorded

I always liked that line because I took it as he was surprised that he didn't piss the bed.

That's correct, he says he thought he pissed the bed but he was just sweating so much. I don't see how it could mean anything else.

OK the fart noise has been complained about, fair enough. But the piss lyric hasn't :P

And yeah, it's the fact he'd think he'd pissed the bed before he'd think he'd just been sweating though . I guess it indicates that it was an unusually large amount of sweat.

(btw I'm so happy to be analysing this lyric )

Tbh I like the majority of the Trilogy (although there's a few songs I just can't bring myself to listen to!). I have this one friend who constantly disses the trilogy and I have literally spent months trying to convince her it's not as bad as she thinks it is. I've gotten nowhere though!

Yeah, which communicates how intense his feelings were.

I'm also happy to be analysing this lyric :D Going to listen to it now

You know what? I think, at least for me, a lot of the dislike isn't so much in the songs themselves but just the era as a whole. It wasn't the best concept, I associate it with them struggling and me being distant from the fandom and...those are what overshadows any quality in just purely the music and songs themselves. If I think about it, the only trilogy album I truly would say I dislike and disliked listening to was Dos. (Which is heartbreaking bc Mike has always been my fave)

Haha I find the pissed the bed line amusingly blunt. Plus going by the number of pissing stories Billie's told over the years it's most likely inspired by real life experience

That time they made up a live song about david, who pissed on an electric fence.

Drinking angel's piss.

I'm getting pissed I'm a worthless pessimist.

Last chance to piss it all away.

Like a dog that pissed on your BBQ.

You feel washed up like piss going down the drain.

Did I miss any?

Perfect. Green Day gets a pass with whatever silly thing they wrote before the trilogy, but every and each one funny/silly line of the trilogy gets bashed. I can't understand it. It's like green day took itself so seriously on AI and 21CB that people forget that they also can joke and write silly songs just for the fun. And the always did it.

And AI and 21CB weren't even real serious. Those songs sound so fake and insincere.

Trilogy on the other hand is so personal. That's why I like it so much.

Fuck Time -> Top 10 GD song

I like AI, but agreen with you about 21CB. To me that record sound SO forced. Green Day was trying way too much to be BIG on that. It stills enjoyable, but definetely my least favorit GD album, by miles.

I think that's all the song references . There's also the real life stories: Billie attending a barbecue and having to piss a lot and eventually ending up actually pissing on the barbecue, Billie's brother accidentally pissing in Billie's mouth when they were in the bath together as little kids, Adrienne informing Billie that he'd got up in the night and pissed in the hotel cupboard and flushed the hanger, and Billie drinking a lot of Guinness and going to sleep and dreaming that he pissed in his suitcase and then waking up and finding piss in his suitcase. Life experience reflected in art :D

Edit: Just thought of another one to add to your list lol, "I'll stand above you just to piss on your grave"

The Trilogy discussion will never end because we all love talking about how much we love or hate them SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH.

Personally, they are right smack in the middle for me.   Not as good as Idiot, Nimrod, Warning or Dookie.

But better than Breakdown, Insomniac, 1039 and Kerplunk (my least favorite album of them all, but I'm like that cartoon character who keeps scrolling after seeing something that offended him.   I am not going to make an "I Hate Kerplunk" thread.   Because reasons. )

and then between the Trifecta of Troubled Times themselves, I rank them :   Tre, Uno and then Dos.

Exactly! I think for a lot of people, a trilogy of albums released in quick succession was probably a lot to take in, even more so that it isn't the bands best material. I've seen people mention that a different lead single (to replace Oh Love) could have possibly made the trilogy more appealing for them! And tbh, whenever the trilogy is discussed with the friend I mentioned, the first thing that is criticised is the artwork, rather than the actual music. I think that promotion/single choices/artwork may have influenced a lot of opinions on the trilogy. I have to admit, when I first heard about the trilogy, I was a little bit skeptical (as were a good few others). However, there are so many hidden gems in the trilogy that need and deserve more attention (DRB/99 Revolutions/Kill the DJ/Nuclear Family etc)! :toocool::D

When someone relates to the Trilogy that much, it means they need an intervention.

I like the songs but have sobered up and now know the harsh bitterness behind them.  If you relate to them, you're headed down the wrong path.

Somebody get Steve some help.

What bothers me about the trilogy is that Green Day has proven to me with albums such as Warning and American Idiot that they are capable of writing original songs. However, there are barely any original songs in the trilogy--it's almost all just about romance and sex, which is wayyy too common with mainstream music. To me, Tre has the most original songs: X-Kid, Dirty Rotten Bastards, 99 Revolutions, and A Little Boy Named Train. Otherwise, I only enjoy songs like Missing You, Let Yourself Go, and Stay the Night for the sound & not for the lyrics, if this makes sense.

My favorite album in the trilogy is Tre, and like I said in the Overhated GD Songs thread, I think there's only 2 or 3 songs from that album that I don't like, but I haven't listened to the entire album yet (almost every song however). I really enjoy the good songs in Tre--I just wish the guitars had more of that Dookie, Nimrod, or American Idiot sound to them.

My least favorite album in the trilogy is Dos, and it's because of the wild party & sex theme throughout (which is not my thing unless under the context of humor). The only songs I enjoy are Stray Heart, Lazy Bones, Fuck Time, and Stop When The Red Lights Flash, all pretty much for the tune except Lazy Bones. I do like how Stop When The Red Lights Flash reminds me of traffic lights--that's a cool part of the song.

I know this doesn't count as a part of the trilogy but I also love Demolicious--the demos are oftentimes better than the album equivalents, for example, Angel Blue & Let Yourself Go are better on Demolicious.

I haven't seen the movie Quatro yet but I think I'll enjoy watching it.
