Uno is by far the best thing they released since 2000. So many great songs.

You can laugh as much as you want. Uno is still way better than AI, 21CB or RevRad.

Yeah I see what you did there. You made a reference to the song Troublemaker, a song which contains the worst lyrics Billie Joe has ever written, which is found on UNO, which apparently is "by far the best thing they released since 2000" and has "so many great songs."

I'm in my trilogy zone. I have Drama Queen playing right now. This was the first Tre song I learned how to play. It was on repeat whole days. Such a great melody and lovely lyrics. One of Billie's best vocal performances ever.

Why is this thread even still open? It was created so there would be no trilogy talk in the Green Day in the studio 2016 thread, which was closed like 3-4 months ago. Now the new album is out, no one cares about the trilogy no more. It was released 4 years ago for goodness sake. Now it's pretty much used for Steven Seagull to say stupid shit. Let the trilogy die.

Well to be fair Seagull talks shit in every thread. At least with this thread open, there won't be as much Seagull shit in the other threads. Besides it's still interesting to talk about the trilogy

Then in the studio thread was closed so people would stop talking all kinds of irrelevant shit in there :D No seriously, it doesn't hurt to have a trilogy thread. Closing this would only result in unpopular opinions making a comeback.

I wrote this on another topic, and wanted to bring it here:

I think the trilogy is massively underrated. I guess all the iHeart and rehab thing really made people be much more hard on those albuns than they would if that had never happened. Almost as the albuns were the prof or, worst than that, the cause of Billie Joe's problems, when i think it's quite the opposite: they seem to me like a true and honest atempt to deal with his feelings. At the same time I feel Green Day very free and fearless in the trilogy, happy for being able to write songs that didn't need to be part of a serious concept opera rock. I guess they also made them as a gift to the fans, especially old school fans, with many songs that have a more classical green day style, even though always different to what they did before. It's such a shame that so many people turn their backs to those albuns.

In a lot of ways, RevRad is what they meant to do with the trilogy. Something simpler, without an overarching concept–and something that they really, really had fun making. The trilogy kept a lot of songs fun and lighthearted, but was still wildly ambitious, and still felt like they were very much so trying to one-up themselves. During that time they seemed wound so tight. RevRad is the first album since AI that isn't trying to prove itself. After AI they had this immense pressure to be equally big every time–not commercially, but in scope. Personally, I find the trilogy only laid back on the surface. Behind the upbeat songs and youthful lyrics are an obsessive amount of work. Is my opinion colored by the events surrounding it? Certainly, but I think that's ok. The time in their lives shaped who they are now, and to be perfectly honest it effected fans too. I still love so so so many songs from those albums, and my emotions surrounding the era don't change that.
