Uno might not have been certified gold here, but it was in 7 other countries. And I'm just saying, according to the average professional critic, they all had positive reviews (overall).

The Trilogy might not have sold 'millions' of albums like AI and 21CB, but I'm sure between the 3 of them they are at the million mark, and will continue to sell as they tour and make more albums. It's obviously not as good as previous albums, and maybe below expectations, but I can't see how any one could measure that as a 'failure' lol. I guess it's just my perception of it, I dunno.

It's interesting.  For most bands, these sales figures would have been a success; for Green Day, they signified a failure.  Not because they didn't sell any albums, but because they didn't sell anywhere near as many as they were expected to, as many as they could or should have done.  They just didn't live up to expectations.  It's like if I ran 100m in 11 seconds that would be awesome, but for usain bolt that would be a failure.  It's all relative.  The same goes for the critics.  Green Day are capable of putting out albums with far better reviews than mixed-positive, that's a failure for them, or rather an area in which they could have done better.

I agree, and it is relative. Green Day has the potential to obtain critical acclaim for their music, and didn't reach those heights with the Trilogy. The sales were nothing to write home about either compared to previous albums. I guess my perspective is assessing the success of the Trilogy with all things considered, rather than just their past.

Im really looking forward to seeing how Revolution radio does critically and commercially 🙂

Every time i listen through the trilogy i find a new song i like. I always find something, but i can never bring myself to say that the trilogy is more than okay or good.

In my personal opinion, the guys are so much better than the trilogy. But it's sad that they didn't get the good outcome they were looking for when they released it. I agree with you completely.

Uno is by far the best thing they released since 2000. So many great songs.

There are three, maybe four good songs, the rest is crap. The problem is it is the best record in that trilogy.

Not at all. Uno is probably the only GD album where there are no skippable tracks. All songs are so amazing that I fell in love with it when it was released.

Dookie is amazingly consistent. Sweet 16 is hot garbage.

Yeah I love Sweet 16! Very sweet love song to Adrienne, another one of those romantic but realistic ones he writes so well.

I like to wait until I have a couple of hours worth of housework to do and go for the full Uno Dos Tre listen, always enjoyable :D

Still trying to figure out what's wrong with Lady Cobras voice? Was that just a lame excuse to say they don't like rap? I played it quite a few times and I was just in shock how underrated it still is to this day. I hate to keep saying it, but if I don't I really don't know who else will.:(

It's always nice to hear nice records and stuff that's not political ALL THE TIME. :D

Agreed, just maudlin and boring.

I also love the trilogy but Sweet 16 is one of the only Green Day songs I'm really not into. It sounded great live on the one crappy recording there is, but on the record it's just dull.

for all the sweet 16 dislikers, what aabout this version:

It doesn't matter what you do with the music, you can't fix the lyrics.

I like the lyrics a lot. To me it follows along from Redundant and Church On Sunday as an honest/realistic type of love song, I especially like "The kids are alright, alright as they'll ever be" and the nostalgic verses. I've seen a few people say they dislike "You will always be my sweet 16" (thinking it's about 16 year olds and is corny) in the past, but knowing it's just a reference to his 16th anniversary I don't see anything wrong with that part either. Sounds pretty too.

She's not exactly the greatest rapper of all time and I could see being disappointed with the verses not being from a "real" rapper, not everyone who dislikes it just dislikes rap. But I think that kind of seductive half rapping half talking she does works for the song/character and complements Billie's vocals well. And as is evident from discussions about Dos there's some people who dislike hearing any lyrics about casual sex in a Green Day song and are "disappointed" in Billie for writing about it (lol) and no doubt don't enjoy hearing a sexy woman's voice rapping about it on a Green Day song either. But it also just isn't to some people's taste (which is to be expected more than usual for a song that's different to the band's usual output) and there's nothing wrong with that. Doesn't stop me enjoying it!

The opposite for me. Don't like the trilogy but that's a highlight for me.
