What bands should be on Green Day's next tour?

Patent Pending would be awesome! They make a great support band and totally agree they deserve to be more well known. Plus they love Green Day. I think they'd work fine in an arena but maybe not a stadium?

Sum 41's new album will be out soon so they'd be perfect too. That's my dream gig but it'll probably never happen and not sure how well they'd work as a support act, actually.

I think Blink is a possibility, and Fall Out Boy as a thank you for their contribution at the HOF

These two bands would be perfect for Green Day support, but aren't they too big to be support? A co-headline tour with GD, Blink and FoB would be amazing though.

Pop Disaster Tour 2 would be a good idea! The only problem is blink doesn't have Tom, and to me isn't the same :P they should have just stared a new band and played blink songs, or regrouped as +44.

We're going off-topic with this, but for many years now Tom hasn't been the man that made Blink great back in the day. In every photoshoot, every interview he looked like he was completely uninterested in the band, he wore Angels and Airwaves shirts to every show, he brought the space rock influence into Blink's music, his live performances were getting really bad... So to me Blink is now actually much better off, and they are retaining the spirit of the old Blink-182 more now that Tom has left.

I guess I'm a little bias because I love Angels and Airwaves, and I love what Tom brought to neighbourhoods. I like Mark and Travis too, but replacing Tom with Skiba to sing songs Tom wrote kind of annoys me, and just seems like their using the Blink name for $$. I understand that, but still!

And.. at least Tom is out there making a lot of music for his fans and not just teasing them like blink is ;)

But yeah, obviously seeing Blink and Green Day tour again together, in any respect, would be amazing for true pop punk fans.

Tom is putting out generic EPs that almost no one listens to while Blink are about to drop an album of the life. :P That's just my opinion of course, obviously if you enjoy what Tom is putting out then good for you. I can assure you, Mark and Travis are NOT using the Blink name for money. Band members do often get replaced. Vocalists are no exception. If you're going by this logic then technically Blink-182 hasn't been Blink-182 since Scott Raynor left in 1998.

Edit: And the fact that so many people claim that it's not the same band anymore after one member has been replaced just goes to show how characteristic of a band Blink is, how much each essential band member brings in. This must be a very big thing for Matt Skiba and I am confident that he will bring his absolute best.

I personally see a big difference in replacing a drummer versus replacing a singer/songwriter. Even replacing a vocalist who isn't a song writer is pretty common, but to me Tom is just too big a factor in blink to be replaced.

I'm super stoked for Blink's new album, I just wished they started a new band with Matt, or just made it a second +44 album and sang a few blink songs on their tour :P

I was literally about to suggest patent pending!  They're the best support act I've ever seen, really great fun, and I'm sure GD fans would love them.  Would they work in a bigger venue though?

Yeah they're insane, i saw them with Zebrahead (also amazing) in November, they were insane, saw them at their own show 10 days ago and they were INSANEE! Yeah i think they could do a bigger venue, they're are so energetic and silly that people would love it I'm sure!

Yeah Green Day is a big favourite of Patent Pending's lead singer! They name drop Green Day and Billie Joe in their song Classic You

I've heard great things about Patent Pending and while I've never seen them live, the footage I've seen has been enjoyable.

I would love it if Pop Disaster Part 2 happened. I have faith in Matt Skiba and am quite excited to see what Blink is releasing this week  (and they're already teasing us with a potential single or album cover, those little shts). If this ever were to happen, it definitely wouldn't be this summer but...

Weezer would be amazing as a lot of people have said. I'm a big fan of Kaiser Chiefs and have seen them with Green Day before as well as at festivals and as headliners themselves and they always get the crowd going wild. Ditto for Franz Ferdinand. As for Swmrs...I'd rather gauge my eyes out and stick bamboo shoots under my finger nails than listen to them live at a loud volume for more than three minutes. :pinch:They make me want to do violent things to them (and their parents for allowing them the luxury of existing) and torturing the world with their whining.:fight::lol:

Regarding Swmrs (dumbest band name ever), I agree, maybe not to the same extent, but still :) When i saw them i wasnt very impressed, even though it was only six songs

Does anybody think A Day To Remember is possible? I'd love that

Shouldn't be Blink anymore.

Pansy Division. I think it would be interesting to see how people's reaction to homosexuality has changed in 22 years. Joyce Manor would be pretty good too. SWMRS may open for them here and there, even though their music is mediocre at its absolute best...

I could see SWMRS maybe playing outside in the parking lots of some arenas while people show up to see Green Day. I doubt maybe people know who they are outside of Cali, aside from hardcore Green Day fans.

We don't want people arrested for assault in parking lots though so maybe that's not such a great idea

And deservedly so! I meant secret shows and stuff like that...
