Sanity Loan
I have noticed an increase as well. A quote from me last week while my girlfriend and I were out running errands: "Man... they're playing a lot of Green Day." BOBD, Oh Love, American Idiot, and When I Come Around all in a two hour block.
Sixtrix
There's still not a whole lot of Green Day on the local radio stations here A few months ago a DJ on a local radio station played Basket Case and afterwards said something like "No idea where these guys are hiding these days, they are probably laying underneath a rock." I think most people in the Netherlands think Green Day quit or something.
ElmoGreenDay
I hate to say it bit this is getting annoying now. Surely GD have noticed us and the idiot nation talking about a new album so much. Surely they are gonna announce soon. Their hands are tied. Anyone agree?

They don't have to announce until they are ready. They have obviously set things up to get us talking, which is classic social media marketing. We are doing what they want us to do. They are building momentum in an inexpensive and easy method. They will officially announce when the time is right.

No. They'll release it when they and their management want to. They don't care how annoyed we are and neither should they.

Once the album is released the excitement slowly fades and you will have to wait years until the next exciting working-on-new-album moment. WE are the ones who have artificially hyped everything. The band has said nothing and there are only two or three photos from them that even vaguely indicate they're up to something. Ryan
Radio stations definitely get advanced notice of stuff. I remember when Know Your Enemy was first released as a single I called a local radio station torequest it. The DJ was like, "be sure to check them out when they come to America West Arena on (whatever date it is)." And I made the comment that I didn't know they had a tour scheduled yet and he said that they get notice of stuff like this. I then sent an email to Andres telling him what I heard and he replied back saying it couldn't be confirmed. They announced the tour about a month or so later and the DJ's date was exactly right. So I wouldn't be surprised if word is already getting around to stations.

I don't even know why are we having this conversation. Rationally speaking there is very little to base the speculation on. We've been really beating a dead horse since the photos and later since Jason's interview.

Each to their own, yes, but they aren't in the studio for nothing and Tré seldomly uses the hashtag #greenday and yes I might read into that too much but it's obvious social media marketing what they've been doing in the last couple of weeks. We are on a Green Day fanpage/community. Of course we like to speculate the shit out of every tiny hint they give us. Of course we like to talk about it over and over again for weeks. Of course we say "oooh I wish the did this or that". Because we're excited. A lot.

ollhjr
I'm more interested in when/if this tour is going to start this year. If I remember right they started touring before the release of the trilogy and American Idiot, but not 21st Century Breakdown. Could they do that again, but instead of starting overseas, they start here in the states first?!? I keep thinking about them performing at Lollapalooza this year with it being the 25th anniversary and all. It seems like it has been an important gig/place for the guys and vice versa. This is all based on nothing of course, but it's a thought I have been having since the end of last year.

Haha I like your idea of them playing at Lolla, but if they play in the state's first I realllllly hope it's not between September-November (which is looking really likely now, with what Jason said) because I've had to miss out on so many good concert opportunities in that time frame due to marching band. I would love to see some newer dates in the states too. They generally play in the same cities, which makes sense, but it would be cool to see them play in Kentucky for the first time ever. Either way, I'll just be stoked for the album!
lizziebix
I would so very happy if they played Lolla again. That was such a fun show and met some really cool GDC'ers that night.
tdlyon
To the people saying the DJ could have advanced notice of a new single, would they really already have knowledge on something coming out like late June/early July in the beginning of March? Just FYI, I'm in love with your profile picture. Also, I'm a long time fan of Green Day (started liking them when I was 8 or 9) but I'm a complete noob to these forums (or any other types of forums for that matter, never been a big Reddit/Tumblr type) and can't seem to figure out how to change my profile picture from my iPad. Will I have to log onto a computer?
