That was at a club show in gilman. This is at fox theatre, but you could be right maybe there will be no problem selling out this theatre anyway so it doesn't matter that green day are not announced.

Also even if they did have any problem selling out they could announce Green Day like one day before the show and that problem would be solved

It's true that if it is for charity why not announce Green Day to sell more tickets, but the things is, the place isn't huge, if they announced it was Green Day straight and with a week notice, it would collapse. They can sell all the tickets easily just with Billie Joe being there plus the speculation they might play. Monetary aspects aside, it's also possible that they're trying to get in first people who care about Gilman and the scene, to give them the opportunity and also because if it was mostly Green Day fans there'd be lots who wouldn't care about the covers (we saw that kind of disrespect at the bj and norah show in ny)

But secret show... I hope so and I think so! New songs would be perfect by me

I thought that it would sell out with just the verification that Billie was going to be there as well, but apparently there are still alot of tickets left.

But this kind of show would be mostly GD fans.  I guess there might be some people that don't like Green Day but are just supporters of Gilman, but this is going to be all GD music so I would imagine most attendees will be GD fans.

I didn't know that! But like Hermione said, if they don't sell them all with the speculation going on, they can always announce it will be Green Day the day before haha.

People who like Green Day, of course, there won't be many who don't like Green Day I would imagine! But I mean people who really really like them, crazy fans like us I mean :P

If I wasn't 3,000 miles away I would most definitely be there!

Apparently they turned down super bowl because they didn't want to be doing a show during the album process. I guess this is different though so who knows

Not true. They turned it down because they didn't want to open for Beyonce, and they were disappointed when they found out that Bruno Mars is not a candy bar.

I assumed they'd be playing when I saw Billie's tweet. It seems pretty likely! Would be awesome.

Oh and me too! haha. I'm just saying that maybe we're not the preferred audience for whoever organices this show, because it would turn into "simply" a Green Day show, instead of a covers show to support Gilman/ the punk scene of this area.

I don't know that that matters.  The show is a charity function and the point of a charity function is to make money.  Who cares if people come to see Green Day or the cover bands, they are paying money and that money goes to Gilman.  They need to do whatever they can to bring people in.  The preferred audience for this show is anyone with cash.

Green Day shoul play a concert right next to Gilman so them bastards who banned them get no money. And they should finish the concert with Ha Ha You're Dead.

And yet they decided to ignore their own rule when they needed money. Hypocrites :P

This.

And even if it is true that they were asked I'd find it even harder to believe that they turned it down.

Could have been a conditional "yes, but next year"

Wasn't his name Tim Yohananon or something like that? I think he was the person Platypus was aimed at wasn't he?

nope! That was at a football game, but it was a Jets game, so it was obviously of no consequence.

Actually all the band members were personally banned from what I read though certainly in the case of Billie it was for a fairly brief period. I have no idea why Tre and Mike were banned but it was nothing to do with the band. Billie however was banned after Tre and Mike ...it was because he had been drinking in the toilets at a party he and Aaron Cometbus were at there. Also he was only banned for a brief period. Here is a quote from him from Gimme Something Better where he and Aaron discussed Gilman etc. Billie continued to play there with Pinhead Gunpowder and go to shows. Tre and Mike remained banned though but neither Billie or Aaron discussed that.

"I personally got 86’d after the fact. I think about three years later, Aaron (Cometbus) said, I went to a meeting and you’re not 86’d anymore." -Billie Joe Armstrong, Gimme Something Better.

So possibly 86 is Billie whining that he got kicked out for not following the basic rules but he dressed it up
