What if nothing is happening? It's all our collected connections and speculation and GD management emailed Andres to tell us to stop spreading rumors.

I think something is happening, but I'd be pretty amused if we were way off. What if the band was barely getting started on the process and there won't be an album for another year or two.

It would still be weird for Jason to spoil the tour news when nothing serious would be going on

I thought of that and it wouldn't surprise me. It's unlikely because we can tell social network marketing when we see it + the Ausie insider info but as long as it's not confirmed they still can easily call it quits withought an explanation because they didn't promise anything. That's why I'm taking all this with a grain of salt until they confirm.

What Aussie info?

That's the strongest evidence so far.

All this GDC hype has made me on edge, so that would be a HUGE disappointment.

Two different Australians have said they have friends in the industry who confirmed that an album and a tour is coming later this year.

I think my friend who works at Jingletown is pretty strong evidence too...even though he didn't know the timeline for release.

All this third party stuff I kind of bullshit though. It could very well be true, but I could make up some friend who said something too. I'm not saying anyone is a liar and I don't think people like Ryan would say things just to rile people up, but the more layers of people you add, the more exaggeration and such some into play.

It's all Chinese whispers really.

It can, but it's also a sign that if multiple people are hearing similar things, then something is at least going on. That's why I try to keep expectations in check and remind people that we don't actually know something as a fact. None-the-less, it's exciting.

True. But the way I see it happening is similar to the scene in SW: Ep I where Qui-Gon and Obi Wan go to meet Boss Nass. Qui-Gon starts making shit up about the impending war, and Obi Wan jumps in and makes more shit up. The hype train can really get people going.

The thing is that the stuff with my friend was nothing really new or groundbreaking. More just confirmation of what we have all been expecting. I saw that he tagged himself at the Fox Theater and shot him a message basically saying hey it's been awhile, why are you in Oakland? And he responded by telling me that he is working at Jingletown and asked if I was excited about the new album. Then he gave me those small details that I posted several pages ago. He didn't give me a ton of new info (like he could have if he was just trolling or wanted to fuck with me) and he blatantly told me when he didn't know about something that I asked him. He's a good dude and I have no reason not to trust him.

My star sign this week said my fortune teller is going to predict that Green Day will release a new album before the end of this year. So it has to be true.

I personally love all the speculation and random sources giving small bits of info, a lot of it is pretty vague anyway but it makes waiting for the new album more exciting.

year or TWO?  It's got to be released before August 4th, 2017 or it will be our longest wait between albums EVER.  And we can't have that.  I'm all for the them taking their time and letting things evolve naturally/yadda yadda yadda.  But the world needs Green Day this year.  We need them to sing about how great a person Donald Trump is, how racism has been eradicated in the united states, and about how peaceful humans beings have become.  I'd say August-December of this year but man.  This wait's been depressing.  We need something to hold us over.  Anything.  An EP would be great right about now.  Four or six new songs that may or may not be on the album.  Anyway.  I'm rambling.  and certain users on here don't like when I ramble.  I am simply passionate about our favorite band.   So I ramble.

how soon after the release do you really think they will start touring? I mean they will definitely play some shows around the release, but wouldn't they want to wait and see how much attention the release gets? what if it somehow flops? i mean, one reason AI was so big was because it got a new generation of kids into the band, will that happen this time around? wasn't the majority of the touring for AI done in 2005? even if Billie didn't go to rehab, wasn't most of the touring for the trilogy going to be in the spring of 2013 anyways? i know some dates got cancelled, but not all of them

I don't think the albums success weighs too heavily on the first part of the tour. With American Idiot they were already getting ready to play shows, when the album blew up they added dates with bigger venues and came back in 2005 with even bigger shows. My guess is they'll start touring a month or two after the release. Gives them some time to play a few small shows, promo events and stuff. then go on the road. But those places will be booked before the release.

I like the approach of waiting a few months after the release to go on tour.  A lot of bands these days are completing US mini-tours before an album is even out.

In the minds of people who don't pay close attention to an artist's new music, they will see new music is out, listen to it for a bit and if they like it, they'll look up tour dates. How much of a slap in the face is it to look up dates and they already played in your area three months ago before the album was even out? Doesn't create a "I want to see you and listen to your music" kind of vibe if you ask me.

I'm good with release on X date, start big tour 2 months later, and rehearse/play small shows and interviews/TV appearances in between to further build hype and awareness. I think that will create a healthy "I want to see Green Day" attitude.

I know this doesn't mean much, but if anybody believes in signs, Green Day songs have started as SOON as I've started the car 3 times this week. Not to mention being on throughout the car rides at least 4 times. Then they just happened to mention Billie Joe on American Idol. Last night I was at one of Ted Turner's restaurants and, as soon as I walked in the door, "Roving Gambler" started playing. And today in my Spanish class, we watched an episode of El Internado and a character walked around with a binder covered in pictures of Billie Joe. They are everywhere all of a sudden!

I've noticed that too.  More radio stations playing their music.  Not just the one alternative station.  It's quite nice.

GDA posted a video where a contestant, Dalton Rapattoni got compared to Billie Joe. It's pretty neat because I always thought the guy resembled him in a way, not just because of the eyeliner. He's a great singer and musician, you should look up his Phantom of the Opera cover.

They've been on a lot of local stations as well as The Pulse, 90s on 9, Lithium and Pop 2k on Sirius XM. I rarely listen to satellite radio but every time if have recently, they're on.

I'm pretty sure JLo said it during the auditions.  Did Harry say it later?  I didn't see that then.

One of the reasons for trilogy not doing good enough was also that even before the release of the albums they went on to play secret shows and clubs, while people appreciated their new songs but after it's release they started complaining. So touring after two months the release will be a good step and during this time promoting the album, interviews, performances will be enough to maintain the hype.
