So the rumor is, that they're naming it 'Revrad?' Wasn't it on a flyer in one of Billie's birthday photos? Also, why would they name it that? Of all things? Is it some top-secret punk illuminati thing that only they know about? :P

Considering the equipment, it will great if they really want to record classic rock album. But the unsettling thing is that they had also wanted to get back before trilogy. Billie was inspired by Beatles and The Kinks. I remember he said Dos is more in the raunchy garage-rock and Uno is sort of a classic Green Day record... but maybe only the simplicity of lyrics and the thing is that it isn't another rock opera like AI and 21st. And he also blabbed about live sound, so what? Makeup Party, Fuck Time, Lady Cobra could remind of vintage rock, for me that's kind of fake rock and roll. It all could be more awesome if Billie wasn't obsessed with vocal filter and all the recording techniques :P

On the classic rock discussion: Take a listen to the 21CB bonus tracks, specifically "A Quick One" and "Like a Rolling Stone."

Give me that please.

We can put some blame on Chris Dugan as well.

Suppose they where tracking bass, what would be the steps following to complete the album.

Someone please inform me of the steps in the recording process, I'm a little lost.

after bass would be vocals and maybe some guitar over dubs, then mixing, then mastering

For some reason this made me think of "8 Days a week"

:lol::lol:

Possibly because of the common number in there, being 8 in this case. Could also be down to the additional drift in time.

As for recording vocals, Billie does that really fast - he lays each track down in 1 - 3 takes. But, on the contrary, recording guitar overdubs, mixing and mastering may take a while or just a few days - you can't really eastablish the pattern here.

Looked back at billies old Park amp instagram... he also had the schaffer replica as well as an Ibanez screamer. From what I've read about both, I think its pretty obvious they are going for an old school sound, maybe even older than their roots.

no!! Green Day is going to destroy pop-punk with tons of distortion and vocals that aren't high and annoying like fallout boy!!

I don't think that one could necessarily conclude that they are going for an old school sound with the equipment they have shown. You can make anything sound old depending on the settings and sound processing you use.

I mean hell, they said the guitars on the trilogy were gonna sound like the Beatles or early AC/DC... They obviously didn't.

Billie has a lot of equipment he doesn't use very often laying around in the studio - so that doesn't signify anything.

I was just listening to AI and if the new album has even just one song as powerful as Whatsername, I will be a really happy girl.

AGREED!!!! Whatsername is the best song on that album, if not the best song they ever did. It's just so beautiful, moving, and meaningful.

Sorry, but Whatsername is nowhere near "powerful". It was recorded in such a manner to achieve more dry sound. It' a great song and yes we want something powerful, not like Whatsername but more like Welcome To Paradise, Basket Case, Geek Stink Breath, Brain Stew, Jaded, Nice Guys Finish Last, Scattered, Hitchin' A Ride.

It's meaning is powerful.

Yep, lyrically most of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown are powerful/great. But structurally more like a ballad-type.
