Green Day in the studio 2016

Interesting, I've always rather enjoyed GD videos.  I like that they have incorporated some acting and some playing in almost all their videos.  They are supposed to be music videos, not just movie shorts so I want to see the band playing.  I don't like music videos that are just concert videos, but there is beauty is simplicity.  I think Robert Palmers video for Addicted to Love was one of the best ever and it was very simplistic.

I will tell you, as someone that was around at the time, Longview was the perfect first video for them.  It was the video that introduced them to the masses and focusing on Billie was brilliant.  I remember seeing it for the first time and it absolutely blew me away.  I really thought it conveyed the theme of the song very well and introduced us to the band.

But, maybe now that Billie has some acting experience, maybe he will take more of an interest in developing the videos than he has in the past.

i hear they're recording a country album inspired by David Allan Coe's X-Rated Hits

Yeah I like a lot of them, but it does seem like they leave things to the director rather than having a lot of input themselves (looks that way in any making of video). So I think it's mainly down to whether they happen to choose a good director or the director happens to do a good job.

That is true.  But I guess they were not famiiar with the process they would leave it up to the director.  Like I said, maybe now that Billie has some acting experience he will be a bit more hands on in the process.  ONe thing I will say is I can't wait to see the next video, hopefully soon.

Aren't music videos something of an endangered species is now a days? I've always loved the videos they did for Walking Contradiction and Nice Guys Finish Last, especially the latter with the NFL Films treatment. It wouldn't surprise me if the next album didn't come with more than one video when all is said and done, though.

I definitely think that music videos are pretty played out. That's just my opinion though, people definitely still watch them and artists are sort of expected to release them.

I actually think videos are still quite popular, as they get millions and millions of views on Youtube.  The high school kids love them.  I agree that Longview was brilliant, and I like the one for Basket Case. 21 Century BD is my favorite, it's just visually beautiful. Kill the DJ was alright but Oh Love was a terrible video!  I hope they pursue the more artistic style some more with the new album, like 21st CB, or they capture the personality of the Band, especially Billie Joe, especially as he is such a physically expressive performer.

As I see it, guys devote a lot of time but they don't show it up. Before putting out the trilogy guys published repetitively short videos from the studio, i think they realized that it was completely useless as to the promotion. Fans arleady know that something's going on and it's enough to build up excitement at the time. I wait for new info incessantly cause one picture of recording console and Billie's photo of himself in front of a microphone doesn't appease :D and what could 'revrad' mean? Adimittedly, we don't know anything of what the sound is going to be like. Billie's tweet destroy pop-punk is the only clue.

I'm really afraid of the promotion, after last commercial disaster they will strive for good commercial. The basic thing is good single. Oh Love was milk-and-water, just nothing special. They didn't gain new fans, that's another sad thing. I hope Green Day is gonna get back to raw sound cause they had figured out that catchy, power pop trilogy didn't achive success, that's the reason why I believe they will get back. I dunno but I also feel as if they became a bit sentimental.

As to music videos, I wanna see another Stuck with me or Geek Stink Breath. Actually, for me it's the secondary issue, but I really don't wanna see another Oh love or creative x-kid video :D

I hope they make another live album like bullet in a bible.  I wish I was able to buy a copy of their 2013 Reading festival show on youtube... or the old 1994 MTV argon ballroom show (also on youtube)

I reread the Rolling Stone interview for anything I missed...In the interview Billie did mention another possibility of another rock opera but with a more raw sound than AI and 21st CB. And he tweets he is going to destroy pop-punk.  Even though the RS interview  was a couple of years ago, who knows how his mind works.  Maybe that's what's coming?  revrad= Revolution Radical or Revolver Radical, a Punk Opera by Green Day....

I would love to see a live album/DVD of the 2015 House of Blues set, including the Sweet Children part

lol, i mean that, they should use their Special abilities, like Tre being super Cool like he was in that Dead Mermaids, Mike use some Ninja techs, Billie be dressed as Ash Ketchum of pokemon or Iron Man or Even spiderman, Jason should umm, just help them wearing their costumes.   Nicki's ONLY special ability was efficiently depicted in that vid, that's why i said like that

I would like to see hear some more Mike lead vocals for one song on this one. If they did another song that is like American Eulogy when it comes to vocals that would be cool, or as opposed to just making it two separate parts of one song they could do a back and forth like Blink-182 does.

Now Tre doing some lead vocals again would just be incredible since it's so rare.
