Can someone dig up that photo of the band at Sterling Sound in NY right after mastering was done? Curious as to know when that photo was taken.  The band started trilogy recording on Feb 14, 2012.

i assume they can press CDs pretty quick, but vinyl takes a while, but with a big profile band like green day i'm sure they will get a rush order in or something. Record Store Day is in April, so I'm wondering if they are considering a release for that.

If so, they must make it official by the beginning of March as Record Store Day has a deadline around March 10th  http://www.recordstoreday.com/Page/3327 (I dont think so)

Is this the photo? Here's an interview with the photo. The album was done and dusted by July 30th when this interview was published.

also, according to this, 21st Century Breakdown was finished in late March, and that ended up coming out in may, right? I could definitely see a may or june release

http://www.emusician.com/artists/1333/green-day-a-simple-plan/41417

"It’s late March 2009, and New York City is covered in a haze of dark clouds that hug the metropolis like a mask. Hunkered down in Sterling Sound overlooking the Hudson River, Green Day is working on the final mix of 21st Century Breakdown. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, Tre Cool, and producer Butch Vig have spent months jockeying between Ocean Way in Los Angeles and Studio 880 in Oakland recording the 18-track follow-up to the band’s 12-million selling American Idiot.

Later that night, after the final mix is printed and the master placed under lock and key, the Green Day dudes get emotional. The album has taken almost three years to complete, and Green Day doesn’t know how to call it quits. So they start drinking, imbibing 16 bottles of wine and 40 beers before falling into a Chelsea recording studio to jam the night away."

I wonder if they would release something to iTunes before the CD is pressed.  That could have the album released earlier, right?

Yeah, it would be pretty much what U2 did minus forcing it to everyone.

U2 couldn't even give that record away.

That would be a terrible cover...I could imagine the ridiculous gun fanatic idiots who would see that as Billie promoting guns etc and finally getting over his views on stronger gun laws or you know wanting to melt down all guns because even if it was extreme sarcasm, most people simply don't get sarcasm. It looks hilarious though ?

Did some searching about that "punk revolver girl" and switching the image around on Billie's selfie gives me "Al Pachino Dog Day Afternoon"

So, yeah.

Dunno if anyone else looked it up and found that out, but I didn't see anyone post about any thorough google searching and image flipping to get this.

If someone did, then wHOO P S  I looked over it. (forgive me)

Did anything happen around 18-24 weeks ago (such as the band playing a show)? I was just going through posts I've liked on Instagram and found one Tre posted 24 weeks ago of several shelves of drums and the caption "Decisions.... decisions...." and another photo, this time by Mike, 18 weeks ago holding a Dookie cassette tape in what appears to be this OTIS studio.

Could be a clue as to when they entered the studio?

Swmrs have used a lot of these vintage style images to promote their shows over the years including this one which is the actual picture on the wall behind Billie. Obviously anyone from Swmrs could just as easily have stuck up those pictures. The fact that they have used one for promo indicates they are not part of Green Day's future album artwork etc.

I am just curious, since I know nothing about the music business, what is the time frame for other aspects of releasing a new album? I'm talking about marketing and publicity.  Maybe the band's public appearance from Friday night was like a "warm-up" for them to brush themselves off, come out of their hidey holes, shave (Billie!), and otherwise start the process of  mentally and physically getting  ready to promote this thing and tour? It seems like if they are on to recording vocals, which is usually the last thing to record (but not always)  we should start seeing more of them soon with an album coming out; unless the album is not as near to completion as we were hoping? I'm just not sure of the usual timeline for this stuff.

After some thinking, I believe that if the band were to release an album, it won't be done quietly. I don't know what their contract is like, but I am sure that Warner doesn't want to just release an album and hope people hear about it and buy it. There will be promotion, there will be hype, singles will be released, etc. Now, if Green Day were making an album on their own, I would be more optimistic about the April/May release.

Yes I think our posts crossed paths at the same time...I agree that you'd think there'd be some promotion, hype, singles, etc coming at us soon.
