I had mentioned "Radicals" previously.

Sounds like a Maroon 5 song.

I'm looking forward to the press release, since it will be a positive one again. Right now when I think about press releases my first thought is rehab. They need to come back with a bang

I'm curious what it will be like. What tastes the album comes in :P and of course I'd freak out if they went a little harder in sound. Norwegian death metal here I come. :ga: Well no, that would be too much but you know, a little bit of take back and a little bit of horseshoes and handgrenades....

Though I'm sure that whatever they might do, if they're confident about it, then it will probably be good.

lmao, yeah, it would be AMAZING to hear Green Day doing some Norwegian death metal.

For the last time I'm telling y'all, nothing exists like "Norwegian Death Metal" it's Norwegian Black Metal, got it?

I'm hopeful we will get to know something in the Gilman concert. It would be just great if they also perform and again wishfully I can see them blasting with the new songs in encore.

I'm not putting money on it, but there's a non-zero chance they play tomorrow night and debut at least one new song. That's pretty cool.

I personally hope it will be called Revolting Radon, but only time will tell.

There's another thread that I think will be 'reactivated' when the event starts. Some fans said the had tickets!

I personally don't care whether the album is political or not. Green day has a way of making good music regardless of what they write about, as long as it's about SOMETHING.

After Billie Joe's claim that he wants to take his time so that every song is "inspired", I have no doubt that we are in for a great album.

It seems that Green Days best music surfaces from "inspired" moments. Anyone can run through the trilogy and note which songs seem to be more "inspired" from something, whether it be political, a life experience, or even just about todays culture, vs a song that might have taken less thought and reflection to write. THERE IS A CLEAR DIFFERENCE. Not just with the trilogy, but look at all their albums. Besides a few classics like Longview, the majority of their best music surfaced from "inspired" and well analyzed moments in life, both personal and political...

The only thing that would frighten me is if Green day took things too literal. Along with inspiration, their best music takes some analytical thought  to understand the meaning behind the lyrics. To me it seems like whenever they just state the literal meaning behind the song in the lyrics, theres no room for reflection or interpretation by the listener. It's harder for people to connect with a song like that.

Im sorry if this doesn't make sense to people, it's sometimes hard for me to put my thoughts into words, but heres an example...

Wake me up When September Ends - In this song Billie Joe doesn't just write about his life and his experience, he leaves the lyrics open ended allowing others to connect with the way his experience made him feel. The song is about his father, yet the music video tells an entirely different story. If he wrote this song with "literal" lyrics, it would be a lot harder for the listener to connect through their own experiences in life.

Edit: Note: most of their albums each have a unique sound to them. Regardless of what the sound is, they just have to connect with people. They know how to do it, they have done it before... and to me it seems like they are more connected now than ever. It's not necessarily the sound of the music, but the energy it gives off. I think they will make a great album.

There's a thread about the event here:

I'm sure anyone who's going will post about it there. Or if Green Day end up playing (as people are speculating/hoping) they'll post about it here:

Either way if you check Green Day Chat during/after the show you'll find updates about it!

I'll be honest here, as much as I loved American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, I like the Green Day music that I can relate to. Sure, they are all in their 40s and writing songs about love and masturbation is weird, but being 19, I can still relate to that shit.

Couldn't help but notice the similarity :P

I forget what band said this but someone mentioned that it's always better for punk bands or politically motivated musicians to stay quiet while there was a democrat and/or someone the rock community could get behind in office.  It's better for them if there's a horrible leader in office, because it fuels great music and fiery emotions.   When things are truly bad, that's when we get truly honest and great rock n roll.  Because happy music is like a picture of nothing.

I would bet that none of the birthday messages saying looking forward to hear whats next, is not a hint at what is to come. It is far to generic, and if you look at any artist birthday wishes they usually have the same thing whether or not that have an album in the works.
