2016: an American election with a controversial right-wing candidate and Green Day releases ?????

Couldn't help but notice the similarity :P

The difference is that in 2004 that person was already president and was entering an election for his 2nd term.

You don't think the political turmoil and civil rights issues of the past several years aren't enough album fodder by themselves?

I think there is more material then there was in 2004.  The possibilities are endless.

Plus, people don't want them to write about jerking off anymore, because they are too old and people don't want them to write about mid-life crisis because no one really wants to hear that.  I seriously doubt that anyone wants to hear about how much they love their families for an entire album.  There could be some good material in rehab and surviving cancer, but not an entire albums worth.  I'm not sure what else people are expecting to hear?  Maybe they won't come up with another rock opera but I would be really surprised if there are no politically themed songs.

what about that Dookie tribute that happens today? Green Day (not just billie, but the entire band) is set to be there and I really doubt they would only seat there and watch. IF they go onstage, maybe we can hear some news about the new album. will anyone from the forum attend this tribute?

That would be awesome! Hopefully they at least perform, that gives the audience chance to chant "WHAT IS REVRAD?!?!"

They can still have political commentaries without turning it into a rock opera. As far as I can get into it, it's surely gonna be a concept album, maybe something about war, politics, judiciary or system.

I don't have the slightest clue whether it is being recorded but I feel positive that this album will bring a new wave of Green Day for us and they WILL come over from how they were received for the trilogy.

If they try to write what people want to hear it won't be good, they have to write about what they want to write about. I think there could be enough material from rehab/surviving cancer/any other personal experiences and thoughts if that was they felt most inspired by. But I'd also be surprised if there's nothing political, given what's going on in the world right now and seeing Billie's reactions on Instagram etc it seems they're very affected by it. Even on the trilogy they couldn't resist putting 99 Revolutions on there, with the state of things now they must have something to say.

Revolver makes more sense than revolution if it says revrad in that poster with a gun. Or maybe they leave it as "rev" so it could mean both and they use different meanings through the album (similar to the enemy in 21stCB or the "stop when the red lights flash").

And not only did they put 99 revolutions on there, it became the main song, with the post-rehab tour being called the 99 Revolutions Tour. I definitely think there will be at least a couple of political songs if not the whole album.

I agree.  I wasn't trying to say that they are going to write, or should write what people want.  I was trying to point out that people keep saying that they don't want a political album, they don't want themes from when they were younger, they don't want mid-life crisis, etc.  It doesn't leave many more themes.  I guess what I'm saying is I don't know what some fans are expecting because it seems like there are alot of things they don't want from them.

Where did I say that? Where? I simply pointed out a difference between the two political candidates from 2004 and 2016. I said nothing else so I really don't know where you dreamed up this shite.

Generally not a good idea to give your album the same name as on of the best albums of all time.

Nope, that question had absolutely nothing to do with what I had said.

I think fans are just really fearful of the Trilogy 2.0. We aren't used to being thoroughly disappointed by Green Day :P

Not only "Revolver" as the title of course! Something begging with "rad" as the second word. People were suggesting radians, or radio if it was to go with Revolution

I had mentioned "Radicals" previously.

I refuse to believe their new album's title will be anything but Revolutionary Radish.

I'm holding out for Revolting Radiologists. The album will be a scathing condemnation of radiologist billing practices in the U.S.
