They need to stop with the trolling and just announce the damn thing already.  Look, us fans are going to buy the album no matter what sort of hype they roll out.  But it is just annoying at this point.

It  needs to be done correctly this time.  Its not them its us.

What needs to be done correctly?  The announcement?  Again, nobody cares besides fans like us.

The whole fucking thing.  Chill - it will happen when they are ready.  You know if you are that concerned don't follow them - just be pleasantly surprised when you hear the first single.

I'm not going to be surprised because I KNOW it is coming because they keep trolling us.  I'm just tired of it.  Lol.

I'm sure they just want to perfect the album before they announce it. After the disappointing sales and reception of the trilogy, I'm sure they want to make sure the album is the best it can be before they announce it

It's so interesting to compare this cycle to the trilogy cycle. In many ways, it's similar to 21st Century Breakdown in that we don't know a thing, but it's even more secretive it seems. With 21CB, they band themselves never really put anything out there saying they were recording but we got a couple video clips from Butch Vig of them in the studio. With this cycle, there is absolutely nothing, other than a photo of Billie Joe in front of a microphone and a video tour of the studio by him. As fans, we were pretty spoiled with the trilogy and the access we got into the recording and promotion process as it was actually happening and being planned. With this, complete silence.

And they're being a lot more careful keeping this one under wraps. A demo of 21CB managed to leak out around late 2008 and early 2009. I'm not sure if they did that on purpose or not though

Good Charlotte, Billy Talent

oh right, I forgot Billy Talent! They've over the years become one of my favorite bands, but the vocals definitely aren't for everyone.

Anyway, sorry for derailing. There are other threads for this stuff

I dont know about that, I remember some people saying that during the secret /small shows they were doing a while after the leak the band seemed surprised that part of the audience knew the lyrics to 21stCB . Iwouldntsay no to a leak, planned or not :P

The first thing that comes to my mind from the 21stCB cycle are those parking signs on Jingletown (or whatever it was its name back then). It's funny how I feel that anybody that showed up at Otis/Broken Guitars this year bumped into Billie and took pictures with him while back in 2008/9 we had those parking signs but I don't remember someone actually meeting them during the recording proccess...

I feel like the amount of information they wanted to share with the trilogy was wayyy too much. Billie constantly talking about excitement for new songs on his twitter/instagram while now all that we have is only a mention on a RS interview from a year ago and a couple of unsure pictures.

Maybe it's my now-used-to-more-info mind but I feel like 21stCB was way easier to wait for -- there was also a magazine cover (maybe AP?) that Billie wore a jeans jacket (not sure) that I loved! I think it came out a year before 21CB

Yeah, a demo of 21CB (song) leaked out in February, I believe. I actually prefer that demo to the album version due to its piano intro and its raw punk sound. I'd actually like 12 to have the general sound of that demo.

EDIT:

21CB was practically announced by Billie in January. We knew it would be a sort-of sequel to AI. Now we can but guess about the general direction of 12.

I downloaded some bootleg of Viva la Gloria captured on someones phone on a show, and I remember standing waiting on a train, listening to it on repeat. Hopefully we'll get some minor leaks to truly fuel the hype engines.

That makes we wonder if they are actually doing any secret gigs before the first single release.
