Which interview did BJ say he wanted to take his time with this album - did he use the words "fully realized" or did I read that in a SWMRS article.

"I've got, like, four or five songs right now. I'm gonna take it really slow. I'm just gonna make sure every moment is inspired and that we have something that's really special to us. And right now with the songs that we have, it's going in the right direction."

I was thinking about the caption Billie used, "pink and black". 99% is just him liking the color contrast of the selfie, but what if it's a reference to the album or the single they were supposedely shooting a video for? It might stand for something strongly socially oriented, "pink and black" referring respectively to women's and black people's current issues. I wouldn't have come up with that if the caption had appeared under a random picture, but that post openly came from him shooting photos/video for Green Day's new album.

I think he was really just referring to the decor of the bathroom, and the fact that he had black hair again. He knows that black hair=Green Day so he was getting us fans all riled up again with his post.  His hair dresser reposted Billie's selfie with the caption: 'Back in Black'

Do they still record Live at Abbey Roads?

They do rent the studio for events, maybe a video shoot?

Or maybe vacation?

They only recorded at Abbey Road that one time with U2 on The Saints Are Coming.

Does anyone here think that Green Day might be able to pull off something symphonic? Like Metallica's S&M but as an original album.

I think so! I think a lot of Green Day's songs have amazing melodic sensibility and a symphony performing them would sound incredible! I could see them doing something like that in the future, but they still seem really relevant, so I'm sure they'll stick to their usual formula and making hit albums as they don't seem to be letting up anytime soon!

The last time they were there (I think) was during 21CB promo recording a live session for TV and live track releases for singles and EPs.

Please no social justice song like "Formation" or "Same Love." Green Day is always so good at being neutral and indirect, talking about issues through metaphors and stories.

Nope, they did the Live at Abbey Roads sessions.  Plus what does what they did in the past have anything to  do with what they will do in the future.

I just hope Mike to add some interesting bass lines (and tone) on the new album, like he did on the trilogy . AI and 21stCB...a little bit lazy, mr. Dirnt.

That bass solo on Dirty Rotten Bastards was absolutely nuts!!! I'd love to hear him do more of those on the new album!!!

THIS! My gosh I absolutely hate 99 Revolutions for that reason.

Yeah that song came off as so forced and not genuine at all. But it's still not as aggressive and offensive as Macklemore's "Same Love" or "White Privilege" or Beyonce's "Formation."

Yeah. 99 Revolutions simply doesn't have the feel of Holiday or 21CB (the song). Holiday was an extremely effective fuck you to W without being too explicit and 21CB just had these epic lyrics which could be just be as relevant in 2016 as in 2009. 99 Revolution's are rather weak and rambling and the chorus just sounds tedious, making for a rather bland and uninspiring song. In my opinion they should not have used it as opening song during the 99 Revolutions tour so often. Then again, there are more trilogy songs which suffer from the same problem (Sex, Drugs and Violence amongst others).

Well, Billie also said that the trilogy was their best work ever (according to their own metrics and inflated by marketing and stuff) before its release. Maybe it was a good thing that the trilogy bombed commercially and was met with mixed reviews.

That kind of thinking is the foundation of this thread.

But, in all seriousness, I can't fault us for using the past for guessing future events. We could argue that the band has developed trends and patterns.

Mike's range is actually very wide.

Mike is singing the lower part in this song. It's right in line with his vocal range.

I was referring to parts like East 12th St. where I have to believe the higher 'A' note would be too much of a strain for Mike. Even Billie sounds like he's using his falsetto there.

Always loved the way Billie sings "paperwork" in this song.

You putting a song about gay acceptance and a song about black pride as being offensive and aggressive...

That's because Billie is singing a higher note than Mike is on "day dreaming", etc. I think even a female would have to go falsetto for that one.

"Same Love" was widely criticized for being ignorant and offensive given that Macklemore spends most of the song saying, "Look how straight I am and how much pussy I get...oh and go gay rights." The Lonely Island song "Equal Rights" was written as a reaction to that song.

There are some females who could hit that note. Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera come to mind. My only point was that it's too high even for Mike's head voice.
