Green Day in the studio 2016

I could easily see them just releasing the video and the single at the same time. Sum 41 literally just did that like a week or two ago and it was awesome

I'd like them to do that randomly one day along with the album announcement

It'd be really smart for the guys to do something soon. Blink-182 is coming off of a number 1 album release so I'm sure Green Day would have something new soon to keep up this mini pop-punk revival going on right now.

Sum 41's song wasn't a single but yeah I get what you're saying.

Or how about a 30 second snippet that ends up being the whole song?

sing us a song of leaked album art, that truly exceeds all expectations

the theme will like-ly political, it goes well with these times cuz the elections fucked

sing us a story exclusive to Rolling Stones Magazine

sing us a song, for GDC

I don't know about the entire album being political. I'm sure there will be at least one or two political oriented songs or a political vibe on the album in a way.

I think the album announcement will simultaneously come with a Rolling Stone interview or something. Just to let the world know that they are back!

Oh Love was announced for July, 16th, 2012 on this day 4 years ago!

Maybe we will get some news from Green Day next week.

I investigated a bit on Jeffrey Higinbotham, the guy mentioned by Frank Maddocks (VP Creative for Warner Bros) on his Instagram post. He is a production designer and he's working mainly with video stuff. Checking his resume, he worked with several artists for their music videos, among the others Elton John, Eminen, 50 Cent and Marilyn Manson.  Anyway he also collaborated with a few photographers, so maybe a Photo Shoot can not be excluded 100%.

Both for Know Your Enemy and for Oh Love we got snippets and then the song before their videos. For KYE it was:

1) They put the chorus on their website, just the audio.

2) Parts of the song appeared along with parts of the video in a promotional video for NCAA basketball. I don't know the impact this had on the general public, I remember being really excited by the video but it was probably just fangirling :P I remember it was released on easter week (2009), April 6th or 7th apparently.

3) We got the full song on a week day and it was all over radio stations (April 16th)

4) The video was released a week later (April 24th)

I see this as a good strategy, specially the basketball thing if it was on TV and all. I could see something of the kind happening again, maybe this time with something political-related?

For Oh Love we didn't get the video until a month later (thank god, I saw enough hatred from the song alone when it was released). We got a snippet too, the one with BJ's face in ¡Uno! eating an advertisement.

I was also thinking, I don't know when those videos were recorded (anyone?), but for the KYE one there was also a photoshoot I think? The photos of the band looking at a fence.

I think this is the only shoot possible in this case. :)

"Shoot" can mean photo or video. Until we have further evidence, let's not rule out both options.

While it would seem strange to record a video at Jingletown, let's remember that the "21st Century Breakdown" video was recorded entirely in front of a green screen and then (very awkwardly) on the roof of a building.

The MLB Home Run Derby and All-Star game will be happening Monday and Tuesday, and both of these events attract a lot of viewers. I could see them playing parts of a new song during these events IF they are planning on releasing new material soon

Wasn't stay the night and nuclear family videos shot at Jingletown?

By the looks of things they are getting ready to start promoting then. This makes sense if they have supposedly finished the album. I don't think we can wait much longer now. It has to be just round the corner! This is so exciting!!!

If the music videos are anything like those, I'm going to be very disappointed. Those videos are very boring and forgettable. I want something epic and thoughtful, not them just playing in front of a camera.

This. I really yearn for something akin to the 21CB or Know Your Enemy video, something epic and effective at conveying the song's message. In my opinion 21CB is the most epic music video they've ever done.

I agree with you. Such an adventurous video, very different to anything they had done before

Indeed. The 21CB video made me fall in love with 21CB. I was rewatching it recently and I was amazed how well it has aged both visually and semantically. I'd go as far as to say that the song and its meaning are even more relevant now than in 2009. I would be elated to have a track with the epic lyrics of 21CB on 12.

So would I. A lot of people bashed that album, but I can't see why. The lyrical content of that album is fantastic. As is the music. It has the harder stuff like murder city which is a more back to roots sound. To the more experimental era of nimrod and warning with songs like peacemaker. Such a fantastic album and I really hope political songs of that style end up on album 12!

It could have been a video AND photoshoot, they do both at the same time, sometimes. Makes sense, since hair ,makeup and stylist are there anyway and the guys are all dolled up.

I'm also hoping for an epic video like 21CB or something funny like Walking Contradiction.
