Yep, fake. Nothing to see here.

"What's up Nimrods." Nimrod was released on October 14. Green Day recorded the album from March to July. It is July now. March already happened. October is coming up. If this isn't a clear album announcement I don't know what is

Your logic fits in well here.

Here we go:

1. 1st live performance in support of the new album in Riot Fest - mid-September.

2. Album out - 7 October

3. Promoting album - all of November

4. Tour begins - 4 December

I feel like starting a tour in December is a bit weird. Now, I don't know much about concert planning and what not, but given that everything else goes as you say it does, I could see a tour starting sometime in January

@BillyjoelxkidXxSorry I'm using a new browser in my phone that's being a bit funny. I just wanted to reply to @Siddharth_471 to tell him that Riot's lineup was announced a few weeks ago, so no Green Day there. Also it would be weird for them to play one festival and wait 3 months for more shows. No news, sorry for getting your hopes up!

The only thing that makes me believe the album will be released before the end of the year is Jason saying a few months ago on the radio interview that the album was almost done.

who said they're playing riot fest?

No one. It was just a possibility that people wondered about but obviously didn't happen

It's a funny thought that somewhere in the near future we will know the release date and at some point we even will have the album in our hands. But right now we have no idea when all this is going to take place. If only we had a time machine

He's always written relatable lyrics no matter how little his life had in common with lives of the listeners and what they were about. He's often concrete and honest and that's what makes his work believable and relatable. Everyone has different experience and their own imagination, that gives us ability to find our own meanings in art. We always interpret it for ourselves anyway. It doesn't really matter how relatable is a song meant to be - actually, I doubt this can be done on purpose. What people identify with are interpretations they make themselves. I'm quite sure my life has very little in common with life of any middle aged man, no matter what problems he's dealing with. I just don't think it's personal like this. We didn't really know about his issues before, even though he's always written openly and many people found his songs easy to relate to. Relating to songs is often rather about feelings they create. For example, I find Restless Heart Syndrome relatable. I get the general idea it conveys. It's there and it's understandable, even though the song is meant to be about a thing I have no experience with.

(Sorry if this is confusing, your post got me thinking :P)

Also, I'm not sure how much "censorship" is involved, but it seems they don't want to stir this again too much.

Good post, i agree :)

Anyway I relate to Restless Heart Syndrome too!!

Can I add to the totally source less speculation and say i think Green Day will tour in October/November. I remember reading their manager say that he always tries to schedule TV shows/appearances and tours together so that the bands he manages don't have to exhaust themselves flying backwards and forwards. He gave the taping of Jools Holland (UK TV show) in October, which he would then book UK or European dates around, as his example. Therefore my page 187 speculation summary is Billie Joe buys box of hair dye-July, Single-August, Album-September, Tour October/November.

So to conclude I also know NOTHING.

TV shows  with musical guests are typically year-round, are they not? So, I don't see how October plays into the TV show schedule. The SNL season does start in October though.

In the UK Jools Holland is taped in October (and April) so if the album is due in the fall, going on what their manager said he would schedule their UK/Europe tour dates around the taping is all I meant. This is the only example he gave when asked what are his main considerations when promoting an album/planning a tour. A healthier schedule being his main point.

Idk, I'm coming to the realization that this album isn't coming out until the end of 2017 or later.

They've lost the album haven't they. They have history of this kind of carelessness :P

It seems like most people are forgetting Jason Freeses interview. Along with Chris mentioning they were "finishing up the album" I starting to think maybe the "Not entirely accurate" part of the interview was that maybe the small shows and secret shows would be in September, followed by an album and official tour later in the fall.

Also people aren't taking into account that unexpected releases are very popular now. My guess is still possibly august, mostly leaning towards September for everything and October at the very latest.

Maybe billie got stoned and lost it himself, then tried to pass the buck.
