_•Whatsername•_
Why do we have to calculate the percentage of goodness of Green Day albums?? C'mon, every Green Day album is amazing in its own way, no need to turn ourselves into mathematicians, the beauty of music is something you can't calculate !! Joe Van Winkle
Getting back on topic about the new album, it seems pretty inevitable to me that there will be a song about Billie Joe's rehab. That being said, what do you guys think it would sound like? A sad piano ballad about his addiction? Or an upbeat vintage Green Day punk rocker about overcoming his addiction? I'm actually not so sure. It's possible, but there's been a lot of time passed since then and maybe he wrote something about it at one point, but has since written other stuff he wanted to focus on instead. localinsomniac
I honestly wouldn't be surprised one way or the other. If it had happened more toward the end of an album cycle as opposed to the beginning, I think that raises the likelihood. It might still be fresh in his mind in that case; maybe he would even feel like he's got something extra to prove. We are nearly 4 years removed from iHeart though. If we do eventually get to hear a song about Billie's experience in rehab, I don't think it would sound too much like one extreme or the other. Maybe something like Lazy Bones. Sixtrix
If there even is a song related to his rehab, I think it could be likely that the event inspired him to write a rising up from the ashes kind of song and probably keeps it more general instead of writing about his own personal experience directly. I highly doubt it would be a ballad even if he writes about it. I doubt he will tbh. There's more going on in the world than his past addictions and plus I don't think it's been his recent style. If he does write about it, it will be a very subtle song where it only hints on those events.
Joe Van Winkle
Between 2013 and today, I'm surprised they haven't introduced any new songs at their concerts and especially their small club shows. Leading up to the trilogy, we got a bunch of new songs. Drama Queen in 2009, which ended up on ¡TRÉ!, Stay The Night, which ended up on ¡UNO!, When it's Time from the American Idiot Broadway soundtrack, Dreamcatcher, and Olivia in 2010, and Amy from ¡DOS!, and Oh Love, Last Gang in Town (Rusty James), and Carpe Diem from ¡UNO! in 2011. The trilogy came out in 2012 and since then, the only new songs we got were State of Shock on Demolicious in 2014, the Christmas song last year, and solo Billie Joe songs from the Geezer soundtrack this year. Who knows, maybe he'll include the Geezer songs on the new Green Day album. Only time will tell and OMG THE EXCITEMENT IS KILLING ME!!!!!

I can hear Billie singing " I got onnnnee f-ing minute" and other gems like "smashing our guitars to save face and arse"......back on topic though.... They could tackle it from two different angles, but a big serious song, then a more "screw those demons" kind of song.

It's really only in the run up to the trilogy that we got new songs played live before they were released. It was a special experiment they decided to try, they played almost all of them at small shows and mention in Cuatro that it's the first time they've debuted new songs live in 20 years. Drama Queen had been taken off 21st CB at the last minute so was already known of and not necessarily planned to be on a later album, Olivia was also from there, When It's Time was heard in the musical and in a documentary before and released on the soundtrack around the same time it was being played, and the others were only played at soundchecks without an audience (they were recorded from outside), so not really the same. Unless they decided to repeat the same experiment they did with the trilogy with secret shows before the next album it won't be surprising not to have heard any of the songs yet. I don't think they will as it seems like they'e trying to keep things more under wraps this time around, and that suits me because I'd rather have a surprise. Uno did not quite turn out to be the Kerplunk-inspired record we were rooting for, but maybe 12 will incorporate more 'old school' elements. RedundantIdiot
Dear Green Day (even though they won't read this) Please make the announcement about the new album NOW as we are on page 170 and my prediction was that we'd be on this page. Also I'm bored of waiting for the album. Rage and Love
