localinsomniac
This is all probably much ado about nothing, but it is curious that Billie went out of his way to mention Rick Rubin by name, especially when we have no idea if they were working with a producer at all. I'm not sure his style would translate well to the music, but I would love to see what a Green Day album produced by Mark Trombino would sound like. He did do blink-182's Dude Ranch, but I'm thinking in terms of his work with Jimmy Eat World (Clarity, Bleed American, Invented) and Finch (What It Is to Burn). XxXxXxXxX
I absolutely think this is a sign the record is being produced by Rick Rubin. Green Day already posted photos of equipment that was used by a lot of classic bands Rick Rubin has workd with. Not only that, Rick has also recently worked with some of the more popular and newly successful musicians. It makes perfect sense that Green Day would want help from someone to get them back on track after loosing ground with the Trilogy. especially someone with knowledge of what works and what doesn't in today's music industry. After looking up his discography, I agree, this might be a clue after all. Based on the albums he's produced, he could be just what Green Day needs to come back to life. I'm not fully convinced that Rick is the producer of the new album. But if that happens to be the case them I am already very excited that they decided to try a different producer. 2 minutes ago, GenXIdiot said: After looking up his discography, I agree, this might be a clue after all. I really hope you're right. It's been a little over a year since I began checking sites like this for more info on a daily basis. With that being said, I was thinking about it the other day and realized that once this tour is over and Green Day takes another break we are going to wish we were back in time to these moments of speculation. I realized you just have to appreciate where you are. Tour dates would be pretty nice so I can figure out my schedule.

Hero_Of_The_Hour
Rick has worked with such a huge variety of artists and genres and the success of some of those albums speak for themselves. I'd be very excited if he produced Green Day's album. They need a change.
petros
I'm not convinced at all that that's sign that the album is produced by him but I said they should be produced by Rick Rubin about a week ago On 6/14/2016 at 7:40 PM, petros said: No cavallo please. Hermione
I don't think it's that unusual for him to praise a musician he likes, one of the few types of "random" comments he does come out with. I think he was just showing his appreciation for Tina Turner. That said it wouldn't be a huge surprise if they worked with Rubin/wanted to work with him, he's one of the top producers of all time after all. I'd like it if they did. ¡Nunes!
Not to mention that Rick Rubin didn't produced RHCP's new album, being with them since 1991. He is available, whether GD would like to use him as producer or not. But I believe it was just a random comment (altought I hope it wasn't). Though, according to his production discography list he's produced about 4 albums that were (or will be) released this year, so he has been busy: 2016: Kanye West – The Life of Pablo 2016: Compilation Album – Star Wars Headspace 2016: James Blake - The Colour in Anything 2016 The Avett Brothers - True Sadness Edit: He was one of the producers on the Kanye West album and probably only did one or a few songs, and I see he was an additional producer on the James Blake album. And it says he only provided the sound files for the Star Wars compilation album. So I guess he's been mainly busy working on the Avett brothers album. Didn't he do Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, 13, and Death Magnetic? I've heard that he's been accused of over-compression in albums, though, contributing to the so-called "loudness war". EDIT: Wow, this is an impressive resume!
