And I agree with everything you said, but I just don't think 21CB was THAT popular. The tour was great, but I think it lived on the coattails of AI fame. 21 Guns peaked at #22, which isn't that high. I think it fits in with Nimrod. and Insomniac level popularity, maybe a bit more due to recency bias. I mean, 1 million copies sold still isn't that much, and I wouldn't call that "popular."

It depends on how you define 'popular'.  I'm sure, for example, if Rihanna or Adele sold 4 million copies of an album they'd be pretty disappointed.  But 21CB was still amazingly popular for a non-chart-music album.  4 million copies is a lot when your music isn't poppy, chart-friendly music.  How many people are on here because they got into GD through 21CB?  That, in my opinion, is a good indicator of the album's success.

That's not the point, man. I can't judge the popularity of Green Day in other countries bc I DON'T LIVE THERE.

I don't expect you to know the full details of Green Day's popularity in every country, but that's why you look at album sales.  Sure, they're not an infallible indicator of an album's popularity, but sales are the best thing to look at if you don't have time to do extensive research on GD's popularity in a country.

To this day I still didn't listen to 21st CB in full. It's just a crap album.

This is like saying "I never read that book, because I found page 6 and page 193 boring." :P

When 21CB came out, I didn't think it was that popular/known. Then I realised that half my school year knew and liked the album. So long as there's a reasonable amount of touring and media appearances, the new album is gonna go down well.

The new album is going to be epic, well promoted in all forms of media,  with a great kickass lead single and a great video to go along with it, and gorgeous photoshoot pictures splashed  all over print and social media. The album is going to go multi platinum world wide and win multiple Grammy awards after a massive tour which will include a stop in Binghamton, NY.

This is what that guitar guy said on Instagram in regards to deleting the post where it said the guitar needed to be ready by the end of June. Comment from here.

"I deleted the post because a lot of fans jumped to the conclusion, since I was going to try and finish it at the end of June that Green Day would be going on tour in July. I don't know when they will be touring, the fans love their Green Day and social media can spread like wildfire, I just wanted to end that rumor before it got out of hand."

Man, that's a bummer.

Not really.  He admitted it was Billie's guitar and he admitted he is supposed to have it ready by the end of June.  He simply said that because he needed to have it done by the end of June, people assumed that the would be touring in July and that he doesn't know when they are touring.  So what we can conclude is that Billie is using a really cool looking guitar and they will be touring.  Date - TBD

I love that guitar. But I wonder what style of songs they will be playing with that guitar? (Here comes yet another debate about what the new album will sound like :))

There isn't a way to know. The finish doesn't really have much, if any, affect on the sound. Since it's a '50s-era Les Paul Jr., that's a pretty standard Billie Joe guitar of choice.  I think this is a '54 while he's mostly used '59s before. I don't know the difference between the two.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think 1954 was the first year they made Les Paul Jrs.  I don't know how that would affect sound, or quality, but he can say it is a first year Jr.

We knew months ago that no tour would be beginning in July, I don't know why anyone here is surprised or sad. Freese stated explicitly in that podcast that they would be "rehearsing all summer". Nothing has really changed here.

No one should have to wait a whole month to get his guitar painted.

I think my post got a bit misconstrued. In my post I was wondering what style of music will be on the new album, not what style of music this sparkly guitar would be most appropriate for.

He probably had to change all the gear inside as well. It looks disemboweled.

Well.... the silver one from oh love video is used just like any other junior so that's the likely answer for the gold one as well :P

Btw, I don't get how people came to the conclusion that guitar due in July means a tour in july. No one gets a new guitar just to pack it up and start touring all of a sudden. No dates are announced. If this means something then it is that the guitar might be used in another video like the silver one or that the tour will definitely start later because they're still just getting their equipment ready.

As someone else pointed out on Reddit (thought I'd mention it here too), the guitar painter guy mentioned that there will be a sunburst color scheme laid on top of the sparkle. I wonder if it'd look something like this...

Am I the one who thinks the guitar looked so nice and natural that it's almost a pity to have it repainted? I like the glitter but I prefer to see the wood. It just gives instuments more soul.

Some people are trying to defend the fact that green day is a punk band while others are on GDC talking about green day having sparkley guitars....i dont know what to make of that haha

If Billie Joe want to have a sparkly guitar, then he's going to have sparkly guitar.  He doesn't give a shit about what  people think he 'should' have. That's punk.

I love the glitter, especially if they he puts the sunburst on top.  Slap a few religious medals on there and you have a new Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Gibson for 2016!

Which reminds me, I wonder if we're going to see that Sacred Heart of Jesus Hollow Body that he posted on IG? :D

Idk, I like my guitars clean and natural.

I'd play this, though.

When it comes to religious guitars, I'm all for Virgin Mary making a comeback. It's absolutely beautiful.

Btw, is the imagery he uses specifically Catholic or is it used by other, protestant churches as well?

I love the Virgin Mary one too, that's Floyd, isn't it?
