Kerplunk and dookie are similar ...insomniac is mature, dark, serious which dookie is not much. If anything, insomniac gives me the feeling none of other albums in the world does. And the lyrics are the most special lyrics for me.

I disagree I think Dookie and Insomniac are very similar.  I also don't find Insomniac mature, just an angrier version of Dookie.  That is great that you love it so much, but I just don't see it as unique.  I feel they started to get unique with Nimrod.  They added horns and piano and different types of songs like a ballad.  They started to branch out from the formula they had in the past.    In Warning they add a folk influence and started to branch out into more political themes.  Then there is AI, which needs no discussion.  As much as I love 21CB, I would say the same thing I say about Insomniac, it is really just another version of the album before, not unique.

So I guess if you are saying that Insomniac is unique in the way it makes you feel than I can agree with that.  I just don't see it being unique as an album in general.

unless your dad will suck me off, unless your mom will touch my cock, ejaculate in a sock. Real blink-182 lyrics.

I do like nimrod better though.

I think I got that.    I love Nimrod too.  It isn't that I don't like Insomniac, I like all their albums to some degree, I just don't find it unique.

I love both bands equally but just saying...

I could easily flip the bill here and point out some really bad Tom lyrics and compare it to some great Billie Joe lyrics. Your argument doesn't hold much weight.

So Green Day...

You're cold with disappointment
While I'm drowning in the next room
The last contagious victim of this plague between us
I'm sick with apprehension
I'm crippled from exhaustion
And I dread the moment when you finally come to kill me

vs.

Sex, drugs, and violence

English, math, and science

safety in numbers

gimme gimme danger

Bored to Death is not a joke song and the lyrics are dreadful.  "Life is too short to last Long".

If that means no more KFAD at shows, then I'm all for it.

They really need to put that song down.

I like blink and am really excited for their new album, but that lyrical comparison is the height of cherry-picking.

I know. I wasn't expecting them to use them again for this album but I'm happy they are

You can think KFAD, I'm thinking something more along the lines of the way they have use the sax in the past, STop, Drop and Roll, Jackass, etc

Don't get me wrong, I love how they used sax and other brass instruments before. This is actually very exciting because it suggests they went for something more profound this time.

I'm not sure this would be an indicator for where the album is going, as in the trilogy we had Brutal love but also many other songs that didn't have anything to do with it. Although this time there'll be less songs so the chance is smaller :P I mean that maybe it's used punctually as well and it doesn't define the album (not as in every song having horns or anything like that, but as in being complex or epic like some of you are talking about).

How do you know there will be less songs?

I think the inclusion of horns to their music is awesome. In the past 9 months or so, I've really become a fan of Ska music and I play a Euphonium at school so I just really enjoy the sound of brass instruments. Like someone else said, they nailed it in Foxboro Hot Tubs. That sax solo in Pieces of Truth is badass. Wind instruments FTW.

Also for another note, I'm hoping that Green Day adds just a touch more distortion to their next songs and less vocal filters. I know this has been said tons of times on this thread but as much as I like the Trilogy's songs, I feel like I'm listening to Now That's What I Call Music - Almost Green Day edition

Please for the love of God come to Minnesota next tour already it's been 7 years jesus christ
