Do they ever play in Providence Rhode Island or Boston...my son in college would love to see them live too.

They generally do one of Boston OR Providence. Last tour they played the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence; on the 2 legs of Breakdown tour they did the TD Garden in Boston, then Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA.

It's safe to say there will be at least one stop on the tour in this area. Where does your son go to school?

Brown University, so Providence is ideal, but Boston is good too.

Wow! Good for him, and Brown is practically walking distance from the Dunk!

If they play at either Newcastle or Manchester then I'm getting backstage passes too. May as well lose my GD gig virginity in style. I need to meet my heroes!

Ah then I'll think they'll play! If they played in 2013 when they weren't playing many places really, and it was a proper concert, while at that tour they were doing festivals a lot, I think they'll go back. People seem to like them there, the stadium was nearly full that time and they got payed well judging by prices of tickets  But anyway, if you know you can go to other places then you don't have to even worry about that

Fingers crossed. :) I highly doubt it will be a stadium this time around, but it doesn't matter. Nah. I always travel around for gigs, concert tickets is the cheapest part of it. :P

They don't usually do m&g's.

I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't hear anything until the end of July.. A few weeks after Blink's new album comes out. I know they're friends and I doubt Green Day will wanna steal their thunder.

I agree that they'll probably wait until Blink's buzz dies down but I don't think they're really friends at all

Yeah I really wouldn't say friends... I doubt they ever get in touch. But waiting for their new album to get released first and cool off would be smart so they get the proper attention. Maybe something in August?

Me too, IMO  it's just a terrible song. It's the only GD song I'll skip.

I love 99 Revolutions. Every time I hear it, it reminds me of when we saw GD in 2013. It was the opening song and I swear my heart almost stopped when Billie came out on stage!

I'll go and see them in London once, maybe twice if they did a secret/smaller show in addition to an arena/stadium one. I live a 2 hour train ride from a city they always play and I'm more than happy with getting to see them once or twice on a tour so no need to bother travelling further. Tbh I hope the tour isn't that soon, I'd rather have extra time to save up :P

I'm about the same distance away, and I have already warned my husband that I want to see them twice if given the opportunity. I would LOVE to see a small show. I like that intimate atmosphere that a small show gives.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA  Do you seriously think they are going to delay their own album not to steal another bands thunder?  That would be one of the silliest business and worst marketing decisions ever and I would be highly disappointed in them if they did that.  Plus, the release date would most likely come from the record company.  Also, are they friends?  I've never heard that before.

I've said before, I've got as many shows as possible between Boston and Philadelphia

Nah, they don't usually do anything like that.

I really hope they announce something by 27th June purely because I've still got £100 to put towards a flight from changing my NiFi one to New York. I'm not really bothered if I don't use it because I did get to go and see Billie/Geezer, but it would be nice if something was announced by then.

Tbh at this point it is probably just concerning how many shows I am going to do...

See the row of symbols at the top of the reply box? Clicking the piece of paper symbol furthest to the right will clear the box.

Nah they don't do any kind of meet and greet at shows, don't know if they ever have (don't think so, never heard of it) but pretty sure they haven't in the last decade at least. With 21st CB they did do a couple of signings in record shops separate from the tour in the US, and also there were contests to get in to watch soundchecks during the tour, so there is always the chance there'd be something extra like that, but I wouldn't count on anything. I've hung around the venue after a couple of shows just in case without luck (although we did see them come out and say bye after a Foxboro show) but I guess there's a small chance if you give that a go.

There was a meet and greet in August 2012 at the Moenchengladbach show in Germany. If I remember right it was by the local newspaper. You had to give where you lived and oh surprise surprise only people that lived right in that town won. No one else. A friend of mine won, she was allowed into the tour bus and they met Tré and Mike. (They already stated that it was without Billie.) They got a chance to chat with them and got some things signed.

Still i wouldn't get my hopes up for any more meet and greets. Especially not at every show and also probably only when you win via Idiot Nation or something like that. I can't see Green Day do this "pay 300 bucks for a meet and greet of 5 minutes" thing like slipknot for example does. At least not on the next tour already. Though if the management (they decide if meet and greets happen) wants to make more money, they'll do it.

I had no idea, good to know there's a chance of it then! I guess you just have to be really lucky that there's a random contest like that for your show, since they don't do it as a standard thing you could pay for or a fan club contest etc like some bands do.

You also gotta be lucky to notice that kinda stuff too! Because i was at the show and didn't even know about the contest until it was too late (i couldn't have won anyway because i don't live in moenchengladbach but oh well).

(I edited my post) yeah i hope they don't do that in the future, it's stupid to pay 300 bucks for a meet and greet where you probably see them for maybe 5 minutes only. It's in the hands of their management though. If they want to make more money then these kind of things will probably exist some time in the future. I'd rather have more contests on Idiot Nation for example. Then you at least have a chance even if you're not rich. (Sure i could afford the 300 bucks but i wouldn't pay for that because it is probably not worth it, I'd love to meet them, don't get me wrong but 300 is a lot of money.)

I hope they don't start doing meet and greets.  I've bought meet and greet tickets for other bands but they've been smaller bands, making the meet and greet affordable (say £20-30 subsidy) and normally offering a pre show acoustic performance, personal photo and chat, free bit of signed merch early venue entry so you get to the front.  For Bowling for Soup there were about 30 people in the room, which was an ideal and intimate number, and really made the m&g worth the money.  I have no ambition to pay £150+ (probably over 200 easily) to stand in a room with 200 other fans before an arena show and barely make eye contact with the band.  They won't be able to give fans the time they want to due to tight scheduling, which will be frustrating for everyone.  It also doesn't fit with Green Day's image, at least in my opinion.  I'd much rather save my money and go to an extra 3 or 4 shows.

I wouldn't mind if they did it for a reasonable price, probably wouldn't bother with it myself but wouldn't do any harm if they offered it. But yeah a contest would definitely be cooler! Maybe they just don't particularly want to do it (I wouldn't blame them :P), and since they do well enough just playing shows they don't have to so they don't. A contest to get into soundcheck (and maybe having a small chance of meeting them during that) is probably a more realistic thing to hope for, they did do it with a lot of shows on the 21st CB tour.

I agree with this.  Plus, they have always been so accomodating to the fans, always willing to give an autograph or take a photo.  Having to pay to meet them just seems kind of awkward to me.

Still waiting to see Green Day for the first time, and this time I'm going regardless of money or time. Which could end badly for me. But it's been so long now. (Don't want them to release UK tour dates until I actually have money though, would be nice to be able to pay rent and go to a concert :P

My thoughts exactly, I really want standing tickets so booking the sale day off work and hogging my laptop.

I know Tom and Billie are friends.. There's a video on YouTube with Tom calling Billie at home, and Billie's son answering. I'm pretty sure they all became close around the pop disaster tour.. I could be wrong though, and with Tom not in Blink anymore, who knows?

Its just my opinion that they might wanna space out the hype of new albums for the 2 biggest bands of the same genre that share a lot of the same fans ?

His theory was very plausible. All kinds of entertainment release dates often get moved to avoid having 2 products with similar target groups out at the same time. If Green Day released a single when Blink released their album, it's likely the single wouldn't sell as well as it could because fans would be more likely to buy Blink's album instead.

And this is irrelevant but I don't know if theyre friends. They've toured together in the past though.

The record company spacing out the album releases for two similar bands, that they both manage is logical and highly likely.  A band wanting to delay a record release to not "steal another bands thunder" is poor business practice.  The fact that both bands have been around for 25+ years, and both, especially GD, shows that this is not a situation that is likely to cross their minds.  And it shouldn't.  They are not in business to make sure the other is successful.  If they thought that way they would not still both be around.  Also, considering both bands are on different record labels, it is highly unlikely that they would delay the GD release because Blink's just came out, but it is not an impossibility.

If you read my post, I agree that a record label might do that.  However his statement said that the band would not want to steal Blink's thunder.  A good business band would never delay a record release not to steal someones thunder.  They would delay not to compete with that band, but they would never do it not to steal their thunder.

Why would you think that people would buy Blink's single before GD when GD is by far the better selling artist?  And is by far the more successful band?  I personally would think the exact opposite.
