he's got insider info about the tour. He might know something about the album as well but I doubt he's allowed to spread any of it. He's Jeff, therefore he's trolling.

I don't get why people compare when previous albums were released to judge when this one will be out. It takes a band however long they decide for them to take to  write and record. Perfect example is they started writing for 21st century breakdown in January of 2006 but the record wasn't finally finished until Like march of 2009. While the trilogy has more tracks but was written and recorded between 2010 and summer of 2012.

21stBD: 3 years and 3 months

trilogy: 2 years and 6 months.

every album is different depending on what is put into it. They're only rumors right now and no for sure evidence that there will be a September release. But who knows? they could be recording all the way through 2016 and part of 2017 or recording the last note of the record as I type this right now.

The trilogy wasn't recorded between 2010-2012 they started actual recording Feb 2012-June 2012

Their dates were right for demoing timeframe, but that's basically half of what writing is now days.

They probably haven't started writing the new record yet. Billie Joe is probably trying to make #mynewband happen on Instagram so he can steal all the new bands' ideas and use them for the new album.

No, it's actually plausible. I also heard that he has a shot everytime someone makes a correct guess on GDC.

Well he did steal from The Kinks Oasis Jets and Sam Cooke so maybe this time he wants to take from unknowns

(before the lynch mob arrives I'm aware he's "paying tribute" to the other bands...)

But there is no way they haven't started recording yet. Right? Idk. This whole thing is a huge mystery.

Seriously, I think it's 99% they have already started. If Jason wasn't kidding they must be nearly done.

So that is how he is staying sober

He didn't steal from Sam Cooke. There's clearly a writing credit for him on the lyric sheet

Can we compile a list of all the public appearances by the guys so far this year? Seems to be more than normal, and, as others have suggested, you have to wonder if it's intentional. I want to think it is, but part of me realizes that some are band member-related activities and simply not a ~random appearance.

Here's what I can think of:

Geezer premiere, BottleRock, Gilman fundraiser, and Berkeley talk (Billie later had to cancel). What else?

I can't think of anything else, but if you add the Internet buzz they're trying to create it's 100% intentional

Okay, so who thinks that this week is THE week? Anyone got any guesses for when an announcement will be made? My guess is June 10th.

Yeah recently I've just got this itch for new Green Day music. I really want a single for the summer.

The band just needs to be inspired. If they force it, it will suck again like the trilogy.

Come on.  We all know that if it weren't for Billie being sidelined,  the Trilogy would have been the biggest success of their career.   They were going to promote the crap out of that thing and 2012-2014 would have been the Reign of Green Day.    But things happen, and after Uno all we got was a strange "Stray Heart" music video and two singles from Tre that went nowhere.    And (in my opinion) the songs were solid.  The artwork was decent.    Sure there were a few weak spots (Troublemaker, Makeout Party, Lady Cobra, Amanda) but I enjoyed it from front to back.

That being said....I really hope the new album goes in a NEW direction.   The Trilogy was awesome like everything Green Day, but each album needs it's own flavor.   I'm all for darker, louder, meaner, sadder this time around.

How exactly do we know that?
