There's only so much you can talk about Green Day being in the studio. It gets boring after a while.

That's where the hundreds of other threads for talking about other things come in handy.

Things are so quiet :(

If they want to hype this album already, I think the in-studio Instagram posts would really help (and I think they already have).

Could this be the calm before the storm?

...or just let Billie Joe blab to some more fans.

Based on their most recent posts, I think they are writing the score for Game of Thrones

Someone posted this earlier but I can't seem to find it.

How long before the tour does green day normally announce the dates?

I personally hope the album will have exactly 14 songs on it. It feels right.

14 songs is a good number.   Also, I miss secret tracks.  They've vanished due to the downloading/streaming nature of music today, but I still want them.   Could be tacked onto the end of the last song to avoid giving away the secret on Itunes, etc.      9 to 11 songs, I kind of feel cheated (even if they are all solid songs).    14 does just....feel right.   The bonus track could be the 15th song.  Any more than 15 and every song better be freakin' amazing.   Not that Green Day do filler material, but more than 15 is pushing it.   Nimrod and 21st Century Breakdown both had 18 and those were both solid efforts, at least for me.       Here's what kind of set up I'd like for the new record:

1.  Fast paced rocker, with some really guitars and spit-fire lyrics

2. A mid tempo anthem, bigger than life with some experimental sounds

3. Faster acoustic number, maybe a country feel but still hard-rocking

4. Power.   Ballad.

5.  Really heavy, angry snarling beast of a song.

6.  Green Day's New Sound, whatever that may be.  Something totally different.

7.  Pulled right out of Dookie.

8.  Network-ish track

9.  More 2016 Green Day

10.  Acoustic solo song by any of the four guys.  really slow, really heartbreaking.   Crazy guitars.

11.  A song featuring Jesse Malin or Joan Jett.   Sort of standard Green Day, with lots of trading of vocals

12.   Epic song in the vein of JOS or Homecoming.  12 minutes long, going in a bunch of different directions at once.

13.  Mid-tempo, Lazy Bones type song, about the hard-hitting issues that have hit the world and the Green Day family.

14.  Title track, that single handedly will kill "pop punk" forever because it's just.   THAT.  GOOD.

15.   Secret song that will be so good, it'll be the first 'bonus track' to have ridiculous amounts of success and get played on the radio non-stop forever.

Okay, okay.   So that kind of looks like American Idiot.     What can I say?

Second the idea of a secret/bonus track. That really is a lost art in the age of the Internet. Tré has to have written something besides Rock 'n Roll Girlfriend in the last 22 years, throw the guy a frickin' bone!

Or do what AFI did- put the secret song at the beginning of the album, in the negative time before track 1.

Get to the Blink thread!

I hope so. I don't know why everyone's quite so impatient though, it hasn't been that long, and there's been much longer periods of quiet than this in the past. Between AI and 21st CB there were years of virtual silence, no social media posts, no news, nothing at all. And as has been mentioned it seems like maybe they want to be more secretive this time compared to with the trilogy. So the quietness doesn't surprise me.

I think the impatience stems from the teasing. We are on month number for now since the first studio photos were shared. There has been less engagement after getting everybody all hyped up. That's why I think people are wondering what the holdup is. Somebody done dangled the carrot!

That is true! They do love to tease though, I wouldn't put it past them to give us a little taste and then keep us hanging for a bit. I hope the album's done sooner rather than later but I don't mind waiting that much.

So guys what do you think of bored to death?

When I listened to it on the Blink thread, I was pleasantly surprised.  I'm not a huge Blink fan but I thought it was pretty good.  But it does not play well at all on the radio.  It gets swallowed up by the better songs surrounding it.  However, it isn't a bad song but I don't think it is anything particularly memorable.

I'm paying no mind at all to the wait this time around. It seems pretty likely we're going to get something by the end of the year, and for me personally, there will be plenty of new music to consume before then.
