I haven't been to the official Green Day website for some time because let's face it.   With GDA there really is no point.    But with recent events I thought I would head over and see if the layout and/or design had changed.   And it had!   When did this happen?   Still the trilogy style but in Red and Black!   While I am hoping a new font for the new album, perhaps this is a hint.   The new album could have similar design to a certain red, white and black album from 12 years ago.   Possibly a blend of Tre and American Idiot stylistically.    Or even better, a totally new sound with a really awesome Red, White and black theme!    And of course, The Devil's Kind being the final track on the 14 song masterpiece.

oh.    Well again, GDA is the only Green Day site you need.  Maybe the album with look the background of this forum, haha.    With this post on it somewhere.    We're talking about a band that had Ernie in a most pit on the back on an album called Dookie so anything is possible.

Blink-182 and Weezer getting play on the radio!   The Offspring and Green Day toiling in the studio......could we be seeing a resurgence of my favorite style of Rock N Roll?

Like I've said before, watch there be no album.

It's certainly an interesting time for the '90s/early 2000s alt/punk-rock. I've been thinking about that a lot lately.

I'd like to just fast forward to an announcement, and then fast forward to a single, then a tour, etc. Do we have the technology?

Just random curiosity, but does anyone have any idea if Jason White is going to be on the album again? From the looks of it, it just seems like Billie's handling all the guitars this time around.

Isn't Jason a full-time member of the band now? I remember around the time of the trilogy this was highly hinted at, with him seemingly being the "Cuatro" part of the band.

That is called time travel, and no.   But if you travel to the year 2048 you could pick up a time machine, listen to all of Green Days releases up to that point, then come back to April 30th, 2016 and tell us all about it right this second.  I figure by then they will have at least 17 albums, probably more.   But again.....have to get a time machine to travel to 2048 to get a time machine, but that's okay.   Time travel always involves paradoxes like that.  Just time travel before getting a machine, it'll be fine.   I'm curious to know what Album 15 sounds like myself.  Hey, if Green Day sticks with 3-4 years between albums the next one will be released in 2020!!!!!!   Album 14 in 2024, Album 15 in 2028...............okay, about to get crazy here.   Because you guys love it.....

Billie Joe is 44.   But being a rock star and all the clean living that comes with it (I'm laughing so hard over here) has slowed down the aging process.  And we all know musicians tend to live a lot longer than regular humans, so it's possible he could make it beyond 100 years old.   So I'd say we will continue getting new Green Day tunes until around 2072.    I think we will get 27 studio albums out of them.   27, 72.   Is everyone following me?

There is nothing to indicate that Billie is handling all the guitars this time around.

Sum 41, Good Charlotte and lots of other "pop punk" bands are recording now as well, but I've got to say....I'm not expecting much from those guys.   Good Charlotte lost me with their last album and Sum 41 haven't had a solid album since 2002.  Maybe they will both make great albums this year.   Weezer's White Album has grown on me (I hated it from beginning to end at first but now it's pretty good), but The Offspring and Green Day are the two I'm holding my breathe for.   Other bands can be hit and/or miss, but Green Day and the Offspring have been consistent.  (For me, Green Day has been forever consistant.   Offspring have been consistent since  2003....their early albums were good but mixed bags, Conspiracy of One was bad save a few songs, but from 2003 on every track has been delightful.  Except for "When You're in Prison" and "All I have left is you".    F(woo) those songs.   F(woo) them to hell.

Oh, and Flogging Molly are working on a new one as well.   I'm excited about that one too.     I'm super anxious about all these bands next releases.  Because it's like this time around could make or break the entire genre.     What if Green Day, Bad Religion, Sum 41, Good Charlotte and the Offspring all release complete stinkers, and it all goes away?????   We can't let that happen.   No matter what it contains, let's all agree to buy 10 copies of Green Day's next album.   You can spread it out, budget it however you like.   But we've got to do something.   Tre! didn't even sell 60,000 copies.   I could see that many albums and I'm Joe Smoe from South Carolina.

I know it's all subjective but it's funny how much we disagree. The Offspring haven't put out an album I would classify as good since 1998, and I thought Sum 41 hit their peak with Chuck. The White Album is one of my favourite Weezer albums yet. I agree that Green Day is always consistent though. :)

Well the only real reason we had to call Jason an "official member" was that he played on and was credited equally with the rest of the band on the trilogy. Certainly that made him an equal member of the band with the others on those albums but they never made any kind of announcement about his status or said he'd play an equal role in every aspect of the band or on future albums. As far as I can see they've left it open so that his role can be what he/they want it to be rather than making a promise that he has to play the exact same role and have the exact same level of involvement as the other members. So I won't be surprised whether he's on it or not. I very much hope he is though, love Jason :D

Well the last studio video he made of Otis, he zoomed in on several instruments and amps, and all the guitars were his.

That's alright. I'm no internet troll (or at least I hope not) so I won't attack you for your opinion.   Americana was a great one for sure.  It holds a special place in my heart.  Chuck is where our disagreeing comes into play.  I loved Does This Look Infected? but what came after was a trilogy of disappointment for me.    Weezer's White album, I had to listen to for nearly a month before I started to appreciate it, but now I enjoy it (I still skip Girl We Got a Good Thing, but all the other songs are good-ish).   My picks for great Weezer albums often get me trolled (I like the Red Album, Make Believe, don't kill me!)    Haha.   It does seem like everyone is digging the new one but I'm excited about it's coming companion, the BLACK ALBUM.   Rivers says it's going to be dark, twisted, angry and be the first Weezer album with cursing on it.   Sure we've heard him say GD and the B word but the BLACK ALBUM is going to drop F bombs and be nasty good.

Maybe I will go back and re-listen to Sum 41, give them another chance.   What about Good Charlotte?   Cardiology was less pleasant than real open heart surgery and that new single they have out is like getting a lobotomy while having open heart surgery.

I was going to poke at you a little and ask what your favorite Green Day album was, but you covered your bases and said they have been consistent.

I'm just killing time until Album 12:   Presented by Green Day drops.

Damn, that's a bit harsh.  I used to like Good Charlotte back in the day but these days I don't listen to them much at all. If I were to say which era I prefer I would definitely say I like their The Young and the Hopeless era most. I think the newest Good Charlotte songs sound like that because John Feldmann's producing, he makes everything sound too perfect and radio-friendly. He's also behind the new Blink album which makes me worried.
