And you decided to share this with us, why?

Because this is a forum where members can express their thoughts and opinions.

And before anyone claims that my post was off-topic, I specifically addressed that I had no idea that they were returning to the studio until after I saw it trending today, thus precipitating my comment on how I've grown distant and essentially out of the loop with Green Day.

There's a difference between a "a inside source confirmed it" and here's a pic of me and Billie Joe and Billie Joe says yes and in the fall sometime

Many musicians don't get to album 12.   Green Day has had a consistent run of good or great albums and I'm proud of them.  What are some great Album 12's by other bands?   I'm looking up at lot of their contemporaries and haven't found one with 12 albums yet.......Bad Religion has 16......but when it comes to "pop punk" that is it.  Green Day are the "last gang in town" at this point it seems.     Cheap Trick, Bad Religion, Rolling Stones, U2, Van Halen, REM and Meat Loaf have all made it to a dozen but I don't think any of their 12th albums were stand outs in any kind of way....

But branching as far and wide into any genres you like, who have released an amazing Album 12?    I can't think of any......

Which reminds me, that bands' publicist could have said I'm lying and that the whole thing is BS. That's pretty scary to think about. That would have been hard for me to deal with, especially with them being my favorite band for over 20+ years. I've seen other bands do that to people. Instead what I said was validated, which just affirms how much of a class act this band is.

Now that the Green Day hype train rolling full blast across the Internet, this has become a dream come true. People are talking about Green Day again. I'll admit I was a bit overwhelmed when I woke up this morning to see what I said in the national news but I'm good now. I hope this leads people to go dig out their Green Day albums or go out and buy them, then listen to them and remember why Green Day is the best damn band on the face of the earth.

If it wasn't for this trending on Facebook today I wouldn't have had any idea that they were recording a new album.

I've grown distant from Green Day and their music over the past couple of years (after being on a kick for approximately 10-12 years). I think a lot of it has to do with me discovering older gems and realizing that much bigger and better things exist outside of the punk rockers from Oakland, California.

Im not really sure what your end goal was here.

There are plenty artists who have more than 12 albums

In a weird kind of way I feel like this progression as of today is going to force their hands a little bit. Not from the fans but if magazines are getting wind then it is literally just a matter of time.

Forgive me if this has been discussed already, but anyone considering the chances that this album will be relatively political, given that its release and promotion will drastically coincide with the US presidential election?  I wouldn't be surprised if there's a song called "Fuck You, Trump" or "Bern baby Bern"  I'm not saying they even want to make another American Idiot, but given that everyone in this country, I'm sure the band included, is feeling really angry/scared/political, I'm kind of hoping that some of the album will address these issues and speak to my concerns/liberal voices.

Yeah the consensus has been that this seems likely! I can't really imagine how they'd make this album without touching on it when it's such a pressing thing in everyone's minds, even just looking at Billie's Instagram you can see he's certainly been thinking about it. And even on the non politically themed Trilogy they couldn't resist putting 99 Revolutions on there (not to mention naming the tour after it, choosing it as one of few new songs added to every setlist and Billie calling it one of his best songs), I think the way things are now there's no way they could leave politics out.

Because he used to be a pretty active member around here, although he dropped off a year or so ago before most of the people giving him snark even joined. And because it's natural to look back on stuff like that and see how things have changed - and where else would he share that thought, really?

That said, @iScottie - I'm kind of in the same boat. I still have a lot of nostalgia attached to green day because of all the shows I've attended and people I met through them (not to mention AI being the soundtrack of my high school years) but my excitement levels about them are nowhere near what they used to be. I barely listen to them anymore, although I know I'll buy their new album and give it a listen when it comes out.

That may be.  However, it was posted at a time when we just got official confirmation that they are working in a new album.  Our speculations all these months are true and everyone was very excited, as we should be.  To me, it came across as purposely trying to derail everyone's happiness. Similar to the way someone whom you personally don't care for anymore used to do on a consistent basis.  Thus, why I asked the question.

If I misunderstood, I apologize.

No one but Scott can really know his intentions, but to me it just came off as kind of self-reflective. Like when you get reminded of something that used to get you all excited and you start thinking about where you are now vs. where you were in the past. I hope that makes sense. Maybe he would have been better off posting in Random GD Thoughts or whatever but it's a forum, posters gonna post :P

Idk, I'm saving the excitement for later. I'm very happy about the confirmation but I'll need a release date or tour dates to go properly crazy.

This is how I feel, too. It's definitely cool that it's been confirmed, but I don't think I'll start full on freaking out until there's proof in the form of the actual album/tour that it's happening.

Yeah, it would be a different story if it came out of the blue sky but we pretty much knew everything they told us for weeks.

I agree.  I want tour dates, an album  release date, and NEW PICTURES. Then I go crazy with excitement and drive my family crazy. :D

I think that after Geezer on Saturday, it could be any day that we get more and more info.

This may be one of the more ridiculous statements I've heard in a while. GDC with that middle school emotional maturity.
