It's not the clothes it's his face...he looks like Paul. His rubbish hairstyle doesn't help...hint Billie it's actually not the 70's and you aren't in Wings. Loads of people have been commenting on how he resembles Paul on Facebook and IG though and it's funny/refreshing amidst the nasty comments about how he looks high/wasted/drunk and old which are there again but with a nastier twist of blaming his family for letting him get high/drunk. If Billie is still touring in his 70's like Paul McCartney I'll be happy ?

True, he does look like Paul which isn't a slur - I like Paul :D I just don't see how he looks high or drunk. Or was he?

I love Paul! It could also explain the lame Xmas song... If you are going to be Paul McCartney you have to release a terrible Xmas song

As for the high/drunk thing...people were probably going off the typo when he wrote "from is armstrong's" combined with his eyes being closed in one picture and from comments on facebook his eyes look high/drunk to some people. Of course some people didn't give reasons. Just "go home your drunk" comments or "lol he's so drunk". Then there were ones like "So cute that you always get him drunk. Family goals" sent directly to 80.

How did you guys not make a new thread for Billie playing a show? Don't be scared to make new threads :P

Anyway this is cool! Love Billie's fabulous outfit and looks like a fun show. Whether he drank on one night isn't really anyone's concern but his, he never said he planned to be teetotal, however I wouldn't rely too strongly on the words of people who think they can judge someone as "looking drunk" by seeing a photo of them smiling or with their eyes not fully open or one dude meeting him for a moment while he's in the middle of having a fun night out.

Pretty sure he was drinking while making every single Green Day album to date so no reason to think that.

The photo by @axlovar

The hashtag reads

#drunkcelebritywaxmusem #billyjoearmstrong #heisreallydrunk

so it's not just a random observation by people sitting at home it was someone who was at the party. Also maybe some of you need to reread the interview Billie did with Rolling Stone mag regarding his addiction and how he "had his last drink" and it was good because it was documented. Him being really drunk is really not ok given his problems.

I seemed to affect him more, though. I don't say it's the main reason for it sounding the way it does but it might have played a role.

Is that Billie and Ceadagh in that last picture?

I never thought about it before, but he does look like Paul.

Yeah there's no doubt it had some effect but the drink/drugs he took while making other albums had an effect on them too (eg taking speed while making Insomniac, drinking while making Nimrod). Considering he was influenced by drink/drugs to some extent while making all their albums there just isn't really any evidence to suggest it makes them good or bad or determines what style they'll be.

Was he just out of control drinking before rehab or was it out of control drinking and pills? or something like that? We have no way of knowing on this occasion but if he was just having a couple of drinks (if he even was drunk its all conjecture at this point) maybe to him thats ok but if he was mixing things with it then i'd be concerned. We have no way of knowing nor should we I would just like him to be healthy like everyone else here so I can hear some new music haha

It was out of control drinking and pills but he said in RS that he thought he could just give up pills and continue drinking because he hadn't realised how serious his drinking problem was. He elaborated on it and how it had started around Nimrod time etc but he emphasised that he wouldn't have another drink. That's the problem with being an alcoholic...you can't just get happily buzzed like the rest of us. The dude who posted specifically said he was really drunk so I believe he was really drunk. By the way that guy is a guitarist in a band which is probably why he actually is hanging out with him in the first place...why would he bother saying Billie was really drunk when he wasn't.

I think he's been being spotted with the occasional beer can in his hand since like a year after the rehab happened, he never said he was going to be straight edge or anything so even if it was our business to worry or if there was any point in it I don't see a lot of reason to. People just like to worry/freak out any time he's spotted out at night having a good time it seems.

I feel the need to state that Billie does not look like Paul McCartney. He looks damn fine and rocks the retro look.

Do you have that quote? He mentioned that his last drink prior to going into rehab was documented on film (and how that's a good thing like as a warning), that may have been an implication that he wasn't planning on drinking at that time but I don't remember him ever saying he'd never drink again. He's an individual, we don't know what he can or can't do "like the rest of us" or what his long term plans as far as health and drinking are, nor is it our business to.

And it makes me so sick. No. I can’t go there. That’s my last drink. Which is good — it’s documented. Anytime I feel like drinking, I can think about it.”

Also "he's an individual, we don't know what he can or can't do like the rest of us" I suggest you Google alcoholic or alcoholism and bear in mind Billie called himself a "functioning alcoholic".

I think really we can't know anything about his sobriety and whether he can or can't have a few drinks or not, so if we're not going to speculate that him potentially drinking is bad we probably shouldn't speculate that it's OK, either. He'll say something if he wants the fans to know.

Not criticising people for being concerned about him though, I think it's normal for someone to be worried about their favourite musician.

Thanks for finding it. Like I said that might indicate he wanted to avoid drinking at that time but it isn't a vow to never drink again in his life. Not every alcoholic is the same or has the same approach to dealing with their issues. The idea that he needs to never drink again and if he does drink it's a problem is an assumption that fans are putting on him, we really don't know anything about his health or what he "should" be doing so unless he says he has a problem I don't see the point in worrying. He went out with his family for New Years, played a cool show and looked like he enjoyed himself, I don't see a cause for concern.

I agree with everyone that Billie is an individual and can do as he pleases.  It really isn't a concern of mine or any fan, what he does with his private life, because it is just that, his private life.  But, I can understand the comments.

The truth is, being an addict of any kind is not curable.  Once you are an addict, you are always an addict, that is just their personalities.  When people enter rehab, they are not taught how to moderate their behavior because they can't.  They are taught to substitute the harmful addiction for another less harmful addiction.  That is why you often see recovering addicts turn to religion as a substitute.  However, there are exceptions to every rule.  I'm sure there are addicts out there that have learned to moderate their behavior, but I believe that is the exception to the rule.  So, seeing any recovering alcoholic with a drink is generally a cause for alarm.

The trope of "looking drunk" or "looking high" always seemed tenuous to me, in life and here specifically. "Woah dude, lawls, chuckle hutz, he looks sooo wasted!!!" Cuz he's smiling and has his eyes closed? Drunk people usually look pretty much the same as non drunk people.
