Hero_Of_The_Hour
According to this tweet by @berniefollowers Billie Joe has officially endorsed Sanders for President. If you follow Billie on twitter previous tweets by him would certainly suggest he was endorsing Sanders anyway. I thought I'd start this thread to discuss your thoughts on if you feel an endorsement by Billie Joe would impact your choice for President and do you think it's a positive or negative thing for "celebrities" to voice their support for candidates in hopes of support from their fans. Beerjeezus
I'm not in favour of celebrities taking part in campaigns - like playing at meetings etc.I don't really see the difference between official endorsement and being open about your opinions so in my opinion this doesn't change anything. Certainly it's good for Sanders - people might learn more about him from bj's tweets, but the likelyhood of this having an actual impact on elections' results is low. Hermione
I think it's a positive for anyone to express an interest in politics and give their opinion, it's an important part of a democratic society and (especially in the case of celebrities) helps to encourage others to get interested in and informed about politics and voting. Glad to see he has good sense when it comes to picking a candidate to get behind.*BillieYou fake fan Oh wait ... you don't even like GD One seagull almost successfully trolled

Chin for a Day
This is not surprising at all, clearly. I have no problem with any celebrity endorsing a candidate. It is the same as if endorsed one, except no one would really care if I did. However, it will in no way shape or form change the way I vote. As long as Billie doesn't wear a wet suit on the campaign trail.
Ludwig van Beethoven
I with Bernie for the free tuition (soon to be college student going out of state problems).I don't think Billie supporting a candidate would do anything (sowwy Billie), but there are enough uneducated voters that if a mega celebrity like Beyonce or someone endorsed a candidate, the voters would follow. I think it's a positive thing that Billie mentions politics and has tried to encourage people to vote etc. Even voicing his opinions on a politician (positive or negative) may encourage an uneducated fan to Google that individual and then they have an idea of their policies and a person otherwise disinterested in politics may feel they want to vote for someone based on what they've learned. Billie has one million twitter followers...he probably had a lot more influence 10/11 years ago but judging by some of the (terrifying) responses to instagram posts I guess there are individuals who really would (jump off a cliff if they assumed Billie did) vote Sanders based on Billie's opinions.Personally I find it interesting when someone (a band member etc) I like says who they are voting for because it shows a certain amount about their own views.. It's not surprising he's voting for Sanders but what asshole is going to endorse Trump?!

Honestly thought they were teenagers and pitied their naivety and even became online pals with them then they posted selfies and I was like seriously haha. The comments they leave on the guy's accounts hurt my eyes.

Well I am also glad Trump let people see what a hateful person he is now instead of concealing it somehow until he potentially got elected and then unleashed the crazy. Politicians are a lot like new relationships though...no way are people going to show their negative sides on their first date or they are screwed just like politicians are showing their best sides until they win elections. Of course really psycho politicians or ones with really dodgy pasts and ideas can't even play it cool until they win so then we have Trump...and the like.
