21guns&novacaine
So... It seems the general consensus for Foreverly is love or hate
Guest
I can respect the hate as long as its for well-articulated reasons (like the ones Kman laid out) even if I don't agree. The only type of Foreverly hate I can't stand is the "Billie isn't supposed to be singing COUNTRY" hate.
Forever Now
Thanks so much for the great videos everyone! I agree Foreverly is a beautiful album and I'm so thrilled this finally happened.

grene cniht
Foreverly is absolute gash, a copy/paste snorefest of the worst kind, but Billie Joe has never really shown the musical chops to pull off a solo acoustic show anyway. He needs either Mike or Jason there to fill out the songs, otherwise it'd just be him strumming a few power chords and having to actually sing songs that he usually shouts most of. I know so many other bands that do beautiful acoustic arrangements of their songs, many of them heavier than Green Day, and it's always disappointed me that we'll never hear something like that from Green Day because Billie is so limited. You don't need a frontman capable of pulling off a solo acoustic show to do "beautiful acoustic arrangements" of his band's songs. If Green Day's never released or played many acoustic versions that's certainly not because of Billie's lack of musical skills, but rather because they have never felt the need to do so. Most of the acoustic shows played by this kind of bands involve at least two members of the band, I've rarely seen the frontman playing alone. I'll give you that Billie's not the most talented musician ever, but blaming him for the lack of acoustic songs/shows in Green Day's catalogue is a bit silly. Also remember the 1998 KALX acoustic session you brought up a few pages ago! He played alone there and that was for certain a hell of a show. You liked it too, didn't you? EDIT: Not sure actually if you brought up that performance or where it was but the point stands.
Hero_Of_The_Hour
Chainyanker? Chain yanker? Seems legit (Sorry everyone) If you have to ask then you aren't a #realfan #imposter Setlist... Green Day Mind @GreenDayMind 9m9 minutes ago Set list in blue. For those asking earlier the encore earlier "Sure to fall" is not a song (though there is a song by that name by coincidence) it's a prediction based on the nights events (now that Billie's a meth head again and drunk etc ) kinda like "mic drop" on the HOB setlist. Legit info right here.

EDIT: Not sure actually if you brought up that performance or where it was but the point stands. It's fairly obvious from basically every time Billie Joe's performed by himself with an acoustic guitar that he's got about as much skill as myself at reworking his 4 chord punk songs into anything more suitable. Saying "oh, they just don't feel like it" is a cop out. They've never stripped down any of their songs, they've never done an acoustic tour. Hell, I can count the number of acoustic performances they've given on one hand. Yeah, the frontman is rarely alone, but he's also invariably the creative force behind the stripping down and reworking of the songs. Billie is not a talented musician. He's a ridiculously good songwriter, but his playing and composition skills are below average for a professional musician. Whereas Mike and Tré are very talented, and I've always felt that they've been very held back by Billie Joe's limitations. There's only so much a drummer and a bassist can add to an acoustic performance anyway; so much of it comes down to the frontman. I did bring up the KALX show, but in fairness, the only reason it's of any note is because if the insane rarity of the songs he played, not because the performance was any good. I've heard randomers on Soundcloud do better acoustic performances of Green Day songs than Billie Joe, and that's just a bit sad.

Hermione
If Mike and Tre felt held back musically in Green Day there's no reason why they couldn't showcase their superior talents in side bands or solo projects. As far as I'm aware they haven't done anything massively more impressive outside Green Day so I don't really know on what basis you think Billie is holding them back. There's plenty of totally unknown musicians around the world who are way more talented than Billie, Mike and Tré, but that doesn't mean they could play in Green Day, you don't need to be the best musician ever to play in a band that's sold 75 million records. Anyway, I don't think their songs are so hard to strip down that they can't, for that reason, pull off more acoustic shows. It's not a cop out, they might just not like it very much when it goes to acoustic. Why would you want an acoustic tour? I wouldn't for sure, I love Green Day shows just the way they are and I would never exchange one of their classical tours with an acoustic one. And if you agree that he doesn't need to be alone to go acoustic for a one-night show, then I don't see the problem in Jason, Mike or Tré joining him. The acoustic shows they've done together are far from being bad, so that's it. I guess most of the fans and even theirselves prefer the usual craziness of a Green Day show to a stripped down, quiet (even if brilliant) acoustic performance, and that's why your one hand's fingers are enough to count those ones. I'm not a very skilled guitarist or musician but I guess that's no less:

Well I didn't say it was insane but it certainly shows some pieces of musical skills. Anyway, I kind of agree that Mike and Tré are more talented than Billie but that wasn't really the point of my argument. And for the most part of the first video Mike's only speaking But I certainly don't deny he's a badass musician and bass player.

Hermione
Fair enough, but it's still mostly just jamming and there's examples of Billie doing more complicated stuff than usual when jamming as well. Whether they're more capable or not it seems to me it's mostly just not Green Day's style to make things overly complicated (there's certainly numerous times in the past where they've stated that). I know you think Billie's a dictator , but if Mike or Tre were that desperate to get some more complex stuff into songs I'm sure they could manage it. desertrose
alliheatheToday was amazing! First row to @billiejoearmstrong secret show, and I even got to meet him again after! I talked to adrienne after and she specifically remembered me, as did their manager. Seriously such an amazing surprise this morning! I'm so happy I got a chance to do something like this. Pictures & video to come! #billiejoearmstrong #greenday #thenetwork #pinheadgunpowder #americanidiot #dookie #21stcenturybreakdown #uno #dos #tre #nimrod #insomniac #warning #kerplunk #bulletinabible #shenanigans #wakemeupwhenseptemberends #brainstew #longview #welcometoparadise #basketcase #geekstinkbreath #walkingcontradiction #hitchinaride #niceguysfinishlast #minority #warning #foxborohottubs idontwannanamexSo at the end of "who's gonna shoe your pretty little feet" @billiejoearmstrong crumpled up the lyrics and threw it at the crowd...it somehow landed right back on stage. I mumbled (well my version of mumbling) "so....that's up for grabs? He replied "yeah" After the set launch of girls were asking him for the papers with lyrics. I was just standing there he handed me off one (Kentucky) and shook my hand. I then preceded to take the crumpled ball off the stage. #loser #weirdo #thatgreendaygirl #BillieandNorah #boweryelectric idontwannanamexIts autographed by the whole band!
