Beerjeezus
I can't read back all the comments. Was there any important announcement about the band, etc? Thanks.no. All three speeches were only about thanking everyone. All of them hinted they'll continue, though.

LostHighway
It's a shame that this moment could not be enjoyed without being tarnished by the Steve Jobs comments and the iheart meltdown. The fact that there were no apologies made really leaves a bad taste in the mouth and filled the minds of myself and all the fans I know as we followed their induction. I'm happy for them and will always remember this, but the memory is tarnished unfortunately.

Quido
Basket Case was written in stone, American Idiot aswell. Just a tad disappointed that they didn't do anything from the Pre-Dookie time that Billie Joe speculated about in that interview.

Billie is embarrassed by those events, I'm pretty sure he already apologised for iheart in a magazine interview after his rehab, he might have touched on the Steve jobs thing too in that interview but I can't remember. Anyway this was hardly the time and place, this was about thanking people not apologising for things he said when he was drunk. Billie Hoe
Also, a Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame is really not the time and place for apologies of this sort. Billie Joe put the incident at iHeartRadio behind himself and he doesn't even want to hear about it anymore, which is absolutely understandable. Hall of Fame is about celebrating their entire 25-27 year old career and should not be about Billie's failures in the last couple of years
ddany
During the 3 songs Billie sounded really wasted. I mean, probably he was nervous and tired that's all, but I haven't heard him sining quite bad for a long time. And, I am 100% sure he was not wasted! Just did not find a better word to describe. Hermione
The speeches . This part of Billie's is pretty much the most adorable thing ever:"Mike is my musical soulmate and I love you so much and we've been through everything together, and I thank you for everything – your friendship, your family. I love you." It wasn't the time or place for something like that. This was Green Days induction not just Billie joe. It wasn't an AA meetingYeah he admitted that both things were stupid and regrettable in that interview. What on earth do those incidents have to do with them being inducted into the hall of fame? It's not a place to confess and beg forgiveness for every bad thing said and done in life (and if it was he's said and done plenty more than just them anyway!). He already publicly addressed them 2 years ago, they're not even things he'd owe us/fans an apology over (other than those at iHeart or who missed out because of cancelled shows, who've already been apologised to), and they're completely irrelevant to the event, so no surprise whatsoever that they weren't mentioned. As a person who knows families affected by cancer his comments were simply abhorrent and distasteful. An apology would have been very appropriate here, so that we can all move on. Alcohol is not an excuse for being a dick and those comments were simply evil, what kind of person wishes cancer on somebody? I'm sorry but I'm shocked that you find this behavior acceptable and refuse to acknowledge that there is plenty of evidence that suggests that he is not a very nice person. Nobody says his behaviour was acceptable at all, everyone agrees it was disrespectful. He was in the heat of the moment and said something absolutely terrible. Everyone has said things at some point they regret saying and just like Billie, they acknowledge it, apologise and move on. It's all you can do. I would love to hear all this "evidence" that suggest he isn't a nice person. Besides iHeart and the Steve Jobs comments, he only known to be an absolute sweetheart. I'm sorry but I'm shocked that you find this behavior acceptable and refuse to acknowledge that there is plenty of evidence that suggests that he is not a very nice person. Okay, first of all, just because I think this doesn't belong to a celebration doesn't mean I find this kind of behaviour acceptable at all. Don't put words in my mouth, thank you very much. I was very disappointed in Billie when I heard of it and I can't watch the meltdown at iHeartRadio, let alone look at pictures of that day, because it makes me extremely uncomfortable to see my damn idol act that way under drug influence. I was shocked and as was probably every Green Day fan. But talking about this stuff would have brought the entire mood down, which sounds pretty ignorant, but it's true. It doesn't belong there. And Billie apologized. He made mistakes. That doesn't mean he's a bad person. There's absolutely no need to bring that up there, when for a few months in 2012 it was literally all they talked about. The Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame wasn't a damn documentary, where things like that could be discussed. You know Billie's father died of cancer and that Mike's wife beat cancer last year and that Jason White was diagnosed with cancer, right? So I think Billie knows best of all that it shouldn't be joked about, and HE APOLOGIZED. Again, he was doing drugs and I don't know if you've ever done drugs before, but it's hard to have full control of yourself when you're high on whatever drugs he took. Still, it was a horrible thing he said, and we all know that. I'm sorry but I'm shocked that you judge his entire character on a few things he said under drug influence. That's a bit ignorant. Sad to see that some fans can't even for one day be happy for them and just have to bring that shit up all the time.

How many times must this topic be went over again? There'll always be people who apparently cannot leave things behind, no matter what is said and done. He apologized for those things and in my opinion, that was already the point when one should have moved on from it. Of course, his comment was shitty and it wasn't good or acceptable, but it was also a stupid thing said in the heat of the moment and in context, it becomes clear, he actually wanted to say something different and that it wasn't about Steve Jobs as a person at all, it was just phrased very badly. Except for that, everybody says something stupid every now and then, it's just that people always remember when someone famous does it. If making mistakes and saying stupid stuff makes you a bad person, then there are no good people in the world. By the way, there's plenty of evindence that he is a nice person, but of course, it's difficult to realise when you only like to pick out the bad things, however few they are. But that's just the way people are, the negative gets remarked on far more often than the positive.

Just because he doesn't do it again at every subsequent event it doesn't mean he isn't a nice person. It'd have to be a long speech if he was there to apologise for every distasteful thing he's ever said. The Steve Jobs comment clearly wasn't even meant personally, he was really just saying "fuck technology" in an extreme way, and he's already admitted it was in the heat of the alcohol fueled moment and out of order, it's done with. But even if it wasn't it's not a personal confessional, it's a speech about his band, so it has nothing to do with it.
Spike
There's a time and a place for bringing up negative stuff, and during a once in a lifetime experience celebrating all the good you've done for so many people, everything you've achieved and the fact you built it up from absolutely nothing isn't one of them.
