DookieLukie
I'm not sure if that's better or worse. As much as I find Dave Grohl mediocre, he's still better than FOB.
Chin for a Day
The rock hall is now saying that Dave Grohl will be performing with Joan Jett. So, I would imagine he would induct her. It looks like we are stuck with FOB. I can think of worse choices, but not many.
DookieLukie
I kind of wanted to have All-American Rejects do it, but I found out that the singer is a huge asshole, so I changed my mind.

Malleus
Fall Out Boy is a thousand times more musically creative and interesting than Dave Grohl ever has or ever will be. I am so, so happy that they are the ones who will induct the boys.

rebel-without-a-clue
Fall Out Boy will induct them. Just read the news on Rolling Stone. This is stupid? Why? Why can't somebo that actually matters induct them?

Malleus
What's with all the Dave Grohl hate?! Blasphemy! It's just weird to act like he's such a better musician than the members Fall Out Boy. His music is very bland and uninspired, and people (especially in "punk" circles) love to praise him and I never really understood why. It baffles me that there are people above the age of 15 who actively denounce pop music on the grounds that it is pop music. I'm not saying all pop music is good, that'd be just as stupid, but a whole chunk of it is a lot more interesting than whatever Grohl is doing. Z J
The worst live band ever inducted the greatest live band ever. How sad! I completely understand not liking Fall Out Boy, but this is so patently false it pained me to read. You can hate their studio stuff but live they sound very much like the recordings
Guest
Dave Grohl is a wanker and the Foo Fighters are over-rated. oh who am I kidding, Dave Grohl is God and Jesus combined.

Makingyourmascarableed
I love Fall Out Boy, I love Green Day, I am super excited to have FOB induct them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (which seems to be the unpopular opinion in this thread apparently) And I do understand about having them getting inducted by someone "more famous" or "from the bay area" or "fucking anyone else than FOB" but you do realize that if you don't like Green Day getting inducted by them, don't watch the ceremony or don't watch their induction part? It's really simple as that. From someone who saw both bands in 2013, I had a fucking amazing time at both shows and would see them so many times over and over again. Z J
You said it best! It's a shame. Of course it's all a matter of opinion, but I am not a fan of them at all and I never understood why people like to clump them and Green Day together. Oh well Because Fall Out Boy was one of the most commercially successful pop-punk bands since Green Day and very clearly influenced by them
Chin for a Day
People seem to think that their own personal taste is what determines whether the inductor is appropriate. I personally don't have any issue with Fall Out Boy as a band. They have some good songs, but I don't think they were the right choice to induct GD. We are all GD fans and we have all heard the shit: "They suck", "They are sell outs", "They don't deserve to be in the hall", etc. Having the right person speak on their behalf would have really shut some of the haters up, at least briefly. I would have loved to see someone with alot of industry cred induct them. Roger Daltrey would have been nice, or even Alice Cooper, he has always spoken nicely about them. Now they have chosen someone who gets more shit than they do, it seems like they have almost fallen off the radar. Some of the articles didn't even mention GD and Fall Out Boy, but mentioned the Paul Butterfield Band. Having someone with alot industry cred induct them would not have converted any fans, but it might have briefly shut them up. Let's hope they put on a show that will shut some people up. rebel-without-a-clue
Might want to re-check FOB's past chart positions/record sales, you may have read them wrong last time I still don't like them, and record sales don't make you a great band. But I guess FOB is better than Blink
