I hope I don't come across as ungrateful or too much of a nitpicker, but I really wish they would have played Minority instead of WICA. I think that song PERFECTLY encapsulates the message of this band (it's the quintessential Green Day song imo), and it's also fucking killer live. I think it could have brought the house down even more, though I'm still perfectly satisfied with the other two.

Also, unrelated to my last point, I'm predicting new album in spring of 2016, and then summer tour. I'm at least pretty confident that they're going to start work on a new album sooner than later.

I thought the same thing. I was a bit surprised when I read that they were playing When I Come Around... I completely forgot about that song.

And yes, let's hope so :D Hopefully they will not "rush it" like Billie said and try to publish it in 2015. I hope they take their time. Haste makes waste :P

Best Punk Party: Green Day's Speeches and Performance

Patti Smith danced to Ringo Starr's "Boys" very enthusiastically and then hugged Billie Joe Armstrong. "I love Green Day," she told us.

It's a shame that this moment could not be enjoyed without being tarnished by the Steve Jobs comments and the iheart meltdown. The fact that there were no apologies made really leaves a bad taste in the mouth and filled the minds of myself and all the fans I know as we followed their induction. I'm happy for them and will always remember this, but the memory is tarnished unfortunately.

You want evidence? Fine, I will give you evidence. Firstly, the cancer comments show that he is not a very nice person, especially seeing as he lost his father to cancer and his band has been affected by it . Another thing is the flight that he was kicked off for wearing his pants too low and then being obnoxious to the flight stewards, when they politely requested that he pull his pants up. Also, one of the most obvious pieces of evidence is the iheart incident, which displays blatant dickheadedness and entitlement. To top it off, he hid behind alcohol and refused to take responsibility. In 2012 he was rude and dismissive towards a fan who had taken time to get up early and see him on Good Morning America. That's a pretty uncool thing to do. Want more? I'll happily give you more.

Just because I am a Green Day fan does not mean that I cannot see things objectively. Perhaps some on here should try and do the same.

What good? Taking their money to become millionaires? Encouraging illicit drug use? Their music is damn, damn good, but please don't pretend that they actually give a flying fuck about any of us. We all know they don't. It's a business. Of course they'll 'thank' us. Do you know why? Because they want us to keep buying their records and making them money.

I love their music, but I am not naive enough to think that they are making it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Yes, he joined mid-2009 and John left in September 2008 or so. Back then, it was said that an artist who is induced must have recorded an album with the band, which is why numerous guitarists and drummers they had over the years were not induced, but e.g. Jack Sherman and Cliff Martinez were.

Come to think of it, it makes no sense.

Also, John boycotted the ceremony, but unlike Axl Rose, he just kept quiet. Not sure if you're familiar with Axl's fuck-all letter to...pretty much everybody.

No I didn't read his letter, but it's not a big surprise for me. He's always been like this. Axl likes to provoke. In my opinion, it's sometimes difficult to say how big was somebody's impact. For example there are people who were in a band for years and never really significantly contributed to writing process and there are people who played in a band for a while and influenced the whole band forever. This is too individual to be always judged fair.

Oh Dear, I was away for a fantastic seminar (tbh, even Green Day in this case would have been second choice ;) ), and yes, I couldn´t follow all your live postings, because I had to get up early to catch my train. And I will leave again tomorrow or the day after for some days, so... it may take a little while, but I´m gonna read EVERYTHING! :runaround:

There's no real good answer why John or Jason wasn't inducted but a member of RHCP who joined a few months before their induction was as the HOF have rules but will break or ignore them at their convenience really they should just tear up their official rules as they never follow them as last year they told KISS only the members who played on their first album could be inducted but told Nirvana only Kurt Krist and Dave could be inducted and Chad couldn't cause he wasn't a member BUT if they followed what they told KISS than Dave couldn't been inducted it'd have to be Chad so HOF doesn't really have rules they have a "whatever we feel like at the moment" policy

I was there! It was such an amazing and slightly surreal night... I've loved this band since middle school, and always told myself I'd go see them get inducted if they made it into the Hall of Fame. For that day to have come and now passed is just mind-blowing.

The night was overall really beautiful, and even though some of the inductees/performers weren't really my style, it was still amazing to see them live. Stevie Wonder? Wow. It was just so cool to be in the presence of such well respected, talented people.

The guys made me so proud... their speeches were sweet and humble, and they didn't go overboard telling stories or praising themselves (some other inductee speeches were just yikes). Billie looked SO NERVOUS to the point that while Mike and Tre were speaking, I don't think he was really even paying attention, mostly just mumbling to himself about what he was about to say, lol. It was nice to see him acting that way though. Because fans know how down to earth the guys are, but for outsiders who just see them perform, they're full-on rockstars who don't seem humble at all. So the fact that their off-stage personas were displayed was just really, really nice. After they spoke, a lady sitting next to me was like "They just seem so humbled, it's so cute!" Indeed. Super cute.

And their performance just lit up the entire auditorium. I thought they sounded rested and wonderful. Seeing them later play alongside Ringo was definitely a moment I'll never forget. Ugh, so proud and happy for them.

I will wait for...whenever you're able to clear it up, as some names exist in all mentioned bands (or they existed in the past) and I really, really am confused.

It was funny, because the whole time I couldn't stop looking at him seemingly rehearsing what he was about to say in his head while they spoke. I was like "Oh god, stop talking to yourself. You're on TV. Stop talking to yourself." It was SO cute, though. He seemed fine once he started talking, but I guess the fact that he was just using "talking points," as he called them, had him worrying about what he'd say as an introduction.
