Green Day inducted into the Hall Of Fame

Nobody says his behaviour was acceptable at all, everyone agrees it was disrespectful. He was in the heat of the moment and said something absolutely terrible. Everyone has said things at some point they regret saying and just like Billie, they acknowledge it, apologise and move on. It's all you can do.

I would love to hear all this "evidence" that suggest he isn't a nice person. Besides iHeart and the Steve Jobs comments, he only known to be an absolute sweetheart.

You want evidence? Fine, I will give you evidence. Firstly, the cancer comments show that he is not a very nice person, especially seeing as he lost his father to cancer and his band has been affected by it . Another thing is the flight that he was kicked off for wearing his pants too low and then being obnoxious to the flight stewards, when they politely requested that he pull his pants up. Also, one of the most obvious pieces of evidence is the iheart incident, which displays blatant dickheadedness and entitlement. To top it off, he hid behind alcohol and refused to take responsibility. In 2012 he was rude and dismissive towards a fan who had taken time to get up early and see him on Good Morning America. That's a pretty uncool thing to do. Want more? I'll happily give you more.

Just because I am a Green Day fan does not mean that I cannot see things objectively. Perhaps some on here should try and do the same.

Yeah, he's said and done some bad things in his life. That doesn't mean we expect him to mention them at an event that they're completely irrelevant to. Particularly when he's already apologised for them.

There's a time and a place for bringing up negative stuff, and during a once in a lifetime experience celebrating all the good you've done for so many people, everything you've achieved and the fact you built it up from absolutely nothing isn't one of them.

What good? Taking their money to become millionaires? Encouraging illicit drug use? Their music is damn, damn good, but please don't pretend that they actually give a flying fuck about any of us. We all know they don't. It's a business. Of course they'll 'thank' us. Do you know why? Because they want us to keep buying their records and making them money.

I love their music, but I am not naive enough to think that they are making it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Yeah, the Steve Jobs comment and the iHeart Radio incident, we already had that.

I personally thought, the pants sagging incident was a completely ridiculous thing, I would have probably reacted in the same incredulous way if a flight attendant had addressed me about my clothing. And how do you know the flight attendant was so very polite?

About the thing with the fan, that was just someone trolling the forum, that was all made up as someone who was actually there could confirm.

youre being radical, not seeing things objectively. I Cant believe youre deciding if someones good or bad based only on two or three incidents. We all make mistakes its as simple as that.

You seem to be confused about what the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is. It's not a support group or confessional where everyone apologises for every nasty thing they've ever said/done and admits everything that's bad about themselves. It's an event for celebrating a band's musical achievements.

Oh Jesus Christ. The plane thing? Really?

1. You weren't on that flight so there is no way you can tell they asked him politely. This is a fucking ridiculous thing to ask, too, why do they care how he wears his pants? That's just fucking bullshit, it's none of their business unless he was walking around half naked, which he wasn't. Pretty sure he wasn't kicked off because he was rude but because he refused to pull his damn pants up and that's normal. The things people get worked up about.

2. Again, in 2012 it was likely that he was under drug influence and therefore a bite more rude. It's a sad experience for the fan and I feel sorry for them but it's explainable. Shitty, but it happens. Why don't you bring up all the nice stuff he has done for fans? Taking photos with them, signing their stuff, giving away guitars on stage and bringing up 3-5 fans on stage during shows. Who does that? And when he gave away a free drum set for a fan? Or did you just overlook that? One bad fan experience does not define him.

3. I explained iHeartRadio in the previous Post. He doesn't even remember what he did and that says all.

4. Please stop talking, this shit is getting ridiculous

Ok I'm done, that's ridiculous. You think if they were only ever in it for the money they'd have even bothered touring Europe in a crusty van for months on end and nearly getting killed when they could have made more money flipping burgers?

"refused to take responsibility" obviously you didn't read his Rolling Stones interview where he admitted to it and apologised. It was a dark time for him, which is why he chooses not to talk about it in every single interview he ever does.

As for the GMA article, that was written well after iHeart happened as well as many fans on here were there and spoke to him fine. I'm pretty sure that article was just a load of bullshit.

I think you need to realise that people make mistakes and people change, there's plenty of evidence for that.

Just look at how humble and grateful he was during the entire ceremony and how him and the other guys were about the only celebrities to go to their fans on the red carpet.

I really find it very sad that we have to discuss these things (again) when their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is such an amazing, wonderful thing that makes me feel so proud and happy for them.

What does one expect when they join a GD forum? Shit-talking about Billie in every thread? Listing all his mistakes???

I am so super super proud of the boys for their induction and nothing's gonna bring that down. :toocool:

Ehh, I think it's fine to be a fan of Green Day and want to talk about them even if you dislike a lot of things about the band or Billie. Doesn't mean the things you dislike about Billie are relevant when discussing an event that doesn't have anything to do with them though.

We really don't have to discuss anything. Everyone just ignore him at this point.

So whenver he's friendly and nice, it must be acting, and whenever he isn't, it's genuine?

Ladies and gentlemen, I suggest we celebrate this wonderful weekend by not shitting all over Mr. Armstrong's behaviour from years ago. It's always ridiculous, but I consider it expecially wrong today, because a good and positive atmosphere is being spoiled. We don't know if he's a good person or not and honestly, if anybody's experience of Hof was spoiled by him not apologising, it's their own bad.

Maybe he should've apologised while SJ was alive, but there's no point in repeating the apology now when he did so 2 years ago.
