Not that we needed another reason to hate Fox News, but I saw a clip from one of their stupid late late late night talk shows and they said that they agree with every induction except Green Day because punk should never be celebrated.

*Lights self on fire*

Oh, and they characteristically managed to get their facts wrong because they were also complaining that Lou Reed was not being inducted

Hope that the next year's ceremony will be just as good as it was this year. The Induction speeches and performances of Kiss, Nirvana and Cat Stevens were particularly awesome.

Yeah, we don't actually have a full HD version of Green Day inducting GNR, so this footage is actually hard to come by.

You're right though, it was hard to find these, I didn't have them for two years.

Off topic, but if anyone has the full Nirvana induction and performances from last year in HD, PM me :P

I haven't downloaded and watch that yet, so I don't know if I'm wrong, but if that's the HBO broadcast then it's not what I mean by "full version" because if you watch live fan recordings from the even it includes anecdotes that Billie Joe told on stage (like a longer one about his son Jakob) that were ultimately cut from the HBO broadcast. So unless the one you attached was an in-the-audience-video, it's not actually complete :( I HAVE seen the HD of the version that was aired on television, I just wish they hadn't cut so much of Billie's rambling

Yeah it wouldn't hurt if HBO aired it for 4 hours but I'd rather have the complete music portions (which I believe HBO does) than complete speeches and less music

shit, I want to hear the Jakob thing. If they really do cut out a lot, then now it really sucks I can't make it

The quality is shitty, but it starts around 9:30. He basically says that Jakob was learning how to play Paradise City on Youtube and Billie realized that he can't do it justice. It was very nice and very humble.

Had to get in on this thread. So proud that the boys are getting the recognition they deserve as the premiere rock band of the last 20ish years. Glad I was around to witness it all!

Hello, good to see you after so long!

So, does anyone have any speculation as to what songs they might play at the ceremony?

This just occurred to me... obviously Green Day isn't the first band to be inducted in their first year of eligibility, but they are certainly pretty YOUNG for such an honor. Who is the youngest musician to get inducted, ever? Tre (being the youngest in the band) just turned 42. How many others, if any, have been inducted and have been younger than 42? U2 was inducted in their first year and Bono was 45. Dave Grohl was 44 last year with Nirvana. Are Green Day the youngest ever?

Stevie Wonder got in at 38. And the new Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist was 32 when they were inducted but I dunno if he counts.
