TimmyChunks
I just watched it, and it was pleasantly interesting from a lifelong fan perspective. I loved seeing Billie's nuances (his awkward walk, his distinct way of speaking) present throughout the movie. He kind of tried to act, but for the most part it felt like he was winging the role. Maybe his character was supposed to be a little too clueless for my liking, but Billie seemed to wander around the script and movie a bit more empty-headed than I had expected. The overall plotline and theme were pretty interesting- it was like a life story alternate version of what would have happened if Dookie hadn't caught on and he had been caught in a completely different reality. I thought this context was really interesting and thought provoking. It also made me think quite a bit- here is one of the most talented songwriters and performers of our generation, and in this movie he cast in a totally unassuming, relatable role. He pulled it off relatively well, despite being such a massive and successful rock star. For that alone, I think his performance was pretty solid. It's a good watch. I'll admit, my favorite parts were the "Billie porn" segments (performing Devil's Kind and Ordinary World, and my just kind of fangirling his entire existence throughout the movie). But it was enjoyable enough to make it worthwhile. I'd recommend it.
desertrose
OnlyOnAOL: Imagine having Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong play your dad 2. Armstrong is her pal in real life. "When I worked with him, I was so happy. I loved his music forever. He's got so much energy on stage. Oh my god, I have such a place in my heart for him. He's a genuine guy. We had an automatic connection. We had good chemistry. I felt an immediate bond with him. I don't know what it was. He calls me the daughter he never had. After he said that, we became really close. His wife is great. His sons are great. I love that whole family," says Shipman. http://www.aol.com/article/entertainment/2016/11/10/onlyonaol-imagine-having-green-days-billie-joe-armstrong-play/21603566/
That Dude
I wonder if any non-Green Day fans would like this movie? (obviously if they have something against the band they probably wouldn't enjoy it.....but neutral folks or people who don't know who Billie Joe is......I wonder if any people like that saw this movie and enjoyed it? Did ANYONE other than GDA see this thing? lol

I have no plans to see it actually But I liked Like Sunday Like Rain, I wasn't bored at all even though it really wasn't full of action. I have to point out that I wasn't watching that film because of Billie Joe, but I was more interested in the plot. In the end I was glad I've seen it, it was a nice little movie. But that's off-topic

But that's off-topic There is nothing in the plot that is stunning. It is the same story you have seen thousands of times. However, Billie is quite good and charming in it. It is a nice story that you can see with anyone in your family. There are some funny and touching moments. It is not going to win any awards, or set the world on fire, but it is fun, family entertainment. Definitely worth a rental.

I really appreciate your effort, but it didn't help I will carry on without it for a couple of years I guess, maybe I'll watch it someday but because of being bored. I just can't watch a movie just because someone is in it. From the trailer I think Billie was good, but that's not enough to make me want to see it. I don't want to judge it, cuz I haven't seen it, but I'm just not interested, still
Beerjeezus
It's nothing special. All I expected from it was an excuse to stare at billie for an hour and half and I got an ok movie as a bonus so I'd say it's a great deal. I think the story would be more appealing to my parents than to me, though. I couldn't relate to a story of a dad trying to party even though I had a good laugh. I'm not a fan of the genre but I liked it much better than many famous family movies. It's got a nice, very civil kind of humor.

It's not an adversity really, it's just lack of the interest. I said that maybe I'll see it in the future. I'm not saying this film is bad, all what I'm trying here is to find the reason why I should see it. I'm not obliged to see every movie under the Sun. If it would be a biographical documentary about Rembrandt I would see it no matter what, because I'm interested in his work, if you know what I mean. I know it's not and never meant to be anything like that.

Kaddi.
Pretty sure this has been discussed before, but I only followed this thread sporadically. Do we know if Devil's Kind will be available to download/buy some day? If so, when?

The Grohl
Just watch this and I really liked the movie. I wasn't sure if I would because I don't consider Billie the best actor, but he did well in this role. I like it!
Schlappy
Now I'm no guitar expert by any sense, but that guitar he traded in at the end of the movie looked like his Billie Joe signature Les Paul Junior... My soul, it crushes
Billie Hoe
I watched the movie twice today It's such a cute film. But why is the Heartgrenade on the disc? Also enjoyed seeing Joey in the band scene, I totally didn't see him the first time I watched it Completely missed it. I didn't know that both Jakob's and SWMRS' songs were featured in this film. This is the first time I heard Jakob sing and holy crap I was so surprised by his voice! He sounds incredible and I like his music much more than SWMRS'
