Ok, did anyone else feel that Perry was really stupid (and somewhat naive) in some parts of the movie?

Like, when that stripper is in that room, Perry says something like "what's she doing in there?", and that other guy's like "oh, she gonna come out and read the bible!"

And then when his brother was like "we might buy you out of the business", Perry's just like "what does that mean?" in this really clueless way, and his brother has to spell it out for him: he might get fired, and Perry does nothing to defend himself from this unfairness.

And I don't get why he couldn't just choose a normal room, and had to go & mess up the presidential suite.

And when that receptionist shows him the 1000 dollar wine, Perry's just like "is it any good?'

And so on...He just seemed a bit too stupid for a 40 yr old ex-rocker..

Yes! I get that they wanted to make him a bit of a forgetful/bumbling character but it was way over the top to the point he was clueless about every single thing. A lot of the stuff would be believable enough on its own but to have that many different examples of incompetence over the course of one day was ridiculous and unnecessary.

I was annoyed by the over the top stupidity throughout that whole stripper scene . Especially when they hum music for her to strip to like literally no one would ever do, when they're in a hotel suite with a TV and other audio playing equipment.

Also, the version of Ordinary World in the movie had quite an impact (for me, at least), and you could really see all the things Perry could have done with his life. In the album, when I heard the song, I remember thinking "oh look, a punk rocker going soft in his middle age!" but in the movie, it was quite haunting and powerful.

Must say I agree there, thought that was the best scene of the film. That whole part with his ex in the bedroom was very well done.

Cause Judy Greer is A+

Actually, I felt like Billie's acting ability depended on who he was on the screen with. I felt like scenes with Judy, for example, balanced his novice skills. Whereas, most of the scenes with the daughter and him alone felt cringeworthy in parts because they were two "beginners" together.

Is this movie worth the watch? I'm really debating whether I should see it or not. From the trailer, BJA's acting was cringeworthy as hell. Does he act better in the actual movie? How do you guys rate it, not from a GD fan perspective, but from a film perspective.

It's fine. It's enjoyable for various reasons if you enter with the right mindset and understanding of indie quality and expectations. Nothing is wrong with being a skeptic, but I cant promise anything to someone entering with an already negative attitude about it.

Just watched it up to the part where his brother gives him $1000 to throw a party. I can't watch anymore of this. I guess it's not for me.

yes, she looked more like 12-13

Which is crazy because so does Billie!  I rented the movie on demand twice in less than a month.  I would have been better off buying the movie.  I have verizon btw.  Anyways, excellent for a family movie night!  Soda pop and coasters!!

My busband hates movies, especially Hollywood, but he liked this one. It's an indie film for sure,  have an open mind.

His acting was actually quite good, he was completely charming and really is the reason for any of its success.  From a movie standpoint, it is highly predictable and the story line is one you have seen a million times before.  But, it is cute, there are some funny and touching moments in it.  It is worth a rental.

It's an average movie, but it was fun. A bit too predictable and characters act ridiculously at times. Billie's acting was fine.

My favorite parts in the movie was when he was in the hotel room taking to his ex-girlfriend Judy Greer and he plays her Ordinary World. It was a beautiful moment in the movie. I only wish he would've finished singing/playing it.

My other favorite part was when he and his wife were sitting on the couch talking towards the end. They are talking about being parents for the rest of the kids lives and how they don't know what they are doing . It was a nice moment in the movie and really tied the whole movie together for me. It was very sweet.

I loved the part on the couch at the end as well - it's so true my poor kids - I have no friggin clue what I'm doing but they are stuck with me😘

I ended up watching it, and tbh, I thought the cast pretty much carried him throughout the movie. Selma Blair, BJ's daughter, and his main friend gave good performances -they were the glue that loosely held this movie together. I understand it's an indie movie, but indie movies can be really good - this should have been a youtube video.

BJ was good in Bullet in a Bible where he speaks from the heart and shows his passion, even though it's a concert dvd. His performance in Ordinary World is razzie-worthy.

Hell, Keith Richards in Pirates was good despite not being an actor.

That's pretty harsh, but I understand it's your opinion.

I'm pretty much a movie buff, and I analyze cinematography, acting, and storyline. For me, this movie was a chore to watch and finish.

I know it's subjective and some people will like it. I love GD and had to watch it for BJA since I thought he did a great job as St. Jimmy.

I watched this last night. Met a crazy Green Day fan on a dating app and we met for the movie. It was so good, the meeting. The movie was okay. Short and sweet and humorous at times. I liked it!
