I'm glad people are saying Billie was pretty natural in this. I already know it's going to be an average, kinda corny movie (nothing wrong with that honestly), but hearing that he did well after working so hard on it makes me super happy.

yeah, I've seen the film already, so I know how cheesy it is, but I feel like that one reviwer was kind of harsh....while the other was probably overly generous lol.

It took him 3 tries to break it at iheart not very effective

Not a performance I like to look back fondly on so I didn't remember this, haha. Although I doubt it's even possible to totally smash it in just one try (especially if you're a small 5'7 fellow).

Yeah I watched the iHeart video after the clip, it is an uncannily similar guitar smash :P

Holy goodness the iHeart radio incident was the first thing that came to my mind in that scene! Do you think maybe the director was influenced by BJ's stunt for that scene?

Or maybe he's just really good at smashing guitars... :ga:

-I watch a lot of movies on a daily basis and I must say that this is one of the most enjoyable movies of the year for me.

-I was rather apprehensive about an amateur actor like Billie Joe acting, but I've got to give it to him. He did a great job and really captured the character of Perry perfectly (although I'd probably dismiss his performance and let it slide if it was actually bad :p).

-Despite being light and humorous, there's little bits of reality riddled throughout the film, especially in the idea of letting your glory days and dreams slip away and waking up to find yourself in a place that you didn't imagine was possible.

-The studio version of Devil's Kind is excellent and I cannot wait to purchase it on iTunes.

-Did anyone notice Joey Armstrong making a cameo appearance in a hotel scene toward the end of the film?

-How cool is it that Perry's kid covered a Replacements song?

P.S. the Blu-ray releases on December 6.

This movie is SO lovely. Billie was incredibly natural and really sweet in it. He had really great chemistry with several actors—he was great with the little girl who played his daughter, Selma Blair and Judy Greer. So proud. He earned lots of brownie points from this.

- A slightly different version of Ordinary World was just as nice. I think he said they performed live in the film—definitely sounded like it.

- The running joke about House Hunters really cracked me up.

Same @iScottie! Hahaha. So great.

Every review I'm seeing has been so positive about his performance. I'm so happy. Life is so damn good right now.

I love that Billie is so into trying new things and loves being "a rookie" or whatever, that's great and I applaud him, but please man stick to music. He's not necessarily bad in this, he pulls a lot of it off, but the moments that required some range, like if he started getting upset or sad or frustrated, I would cringe a bit. Basically when he was just neutral and having simple conversations, yeah he was fine. But there were other moments I felt were stretching him a bit thin. It seems more natural for him to act kind of "big", in his facial expressions and what not. Subtly is not his strong suit, which when it comes to rock n roll, is a good thing. I love him over the top and silly and wildly emotional as a lead singer/guitar player. But in a small independent film, I feel like subtly is everything.

Anyway, this was cute and I love Billie for doing it, but please for the love of christ stick to rock n roll.

WARNING:
do not watch with people who don't like Green Day or Billie Joe in general, or who are legitimately looking for a movie to sit down and enjoy after a long day,  because they wont like it :(
I just found out when watching it again but with my parents haha
