The definition of a day and date release is one that is released to all formats the day it is released to the theater.  Now just because it is released to a theater doesn't mean it will be in a theater, but that is the actual definition of a day and date release.  They said that Ordinary World is getting a day and date release which implies the theater as well.

So theatres are able to play it on that day, but most probably won't because it just wouldn't be profitable?

But if it was going to a theater UPHE wouldn't touch it at all (I should know as I did handle UPHE releases in the southern region...) but maybe Eddie Cunningham has changed his mind about that

Yes they can.  But you are correct, they probably won't because it is available in all other media.  It is not profitable for small indie films to be shown in a theater if they are also available at home

I'm not saying it is going to a theater.  I'm saying that the definition of a day and date release are movies that are released to the theater the same day they are released to all other media.  The article I sent talks about the controversy  because day and date releases make it not profitable for indie films to be shown in a theater.  People are not going to go to a theater for a movie they can get cheaper at home.  It is basically the beginning of the end for small indie theaters.

There is a difference between a direct to video movie and a day and date movie.  A direct to video movie will not be released to a theater at all.

Maybe you can see it as a special engagement, one day showing.  I see that alot at my local theater.  For one day only, come see this film, etc.

I can't believe how horribly done that movie poster/cover is! My son could make one better with his phone. But I'm excited that the movie will be released! It's really cute!

I'm so happy that Ordinary World is coming out at last (I preferred Geezer as the name, though). However that poster is absolutely ridiculous- I think my 6year old cousin could do better......

Released through Netflix

Perry (Billie Joe Armstrong of the band, Green Day) is a happily married father of two living a comfortable but sedate life in the suburbs. On the occasion of his 40th birthday, he seeks to revisit his former life as the lead singer in a popular punk band though his middle-aged reality quickly (and hilariously) clashes with the indulgences of his youth.

‘Ordinary World’ Gets Fall Release Date

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group has set an October 14 day-and-date release for Ordinary World, fka Geezer, a comedic drama starring Billie Joe Armstrong that premiered at Tribeca in April. The Green Day frontman plays Perry, an aging former punk rocker who’s now a married father of two. He leads a sedate life in Queens until his brother (Chris Messina) gives him money to throw a huge 40th birthday rockstar bash in a fancy Manhattan hotel — a chance to get it out of his system. But Perry’s puck past clashes with his middle-age reality. Judy Greer, Selma Blair, Dallas Roberts, Fred Armisen, Brian Baumgartner and Kevin Corrigan also star in the pic from writer-director Lee Kirk.

With that cover, I think this would be a better fit

the synopsis should be, "In an Ordinary World, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong plays an angry punk rocker beyond his time in the limelight. When it is time to face the music that his glory days doesn't mean shit to him and he has turned into drinking a six pack of apathy. He suffers a flashback to his Las Vegas IHEART Radio performance, but instead of busting his guitar against the stage floor...he breaks it over his babies face"

I don't know why but my attitude to this film is weird. I know that I won't be serious while watching the film. I will be laughing and picking on Billie. I can't be obiective when I see well-known (for me) musicians playing in films or series :sorry:I'm trying to be obiective but I will always see him as "Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day"...

The photoshopping is bad, but I think the pictures they chose kind of capture the theme of the film pretty well.

True, it is also extremely cheesy though.

Have they lengthened his body? That along with the surprise baby (and everything else) makes it one of the funniest pictures of him ever. But still it's nice to see him as the star of a film! And I'm going to be highly amused watching him in it.

I'm so glad that it seems this movie will coincide with the release of what could possibly be the best Green Day album in a decade. It makes me far more forgiving if the movie totally sucks. That poster is just hilariously bad, and even if the movie is bad, as long as it's light and funny, I'll just think it's cute and go listen to Revolution Radio xD

Sounded like it to me.  Sorry if it wasn't meant that way.  Must remember that internet posting has no emotion.
