What are the best things to do in New York for somebody that is going to be there for one day?

Why would you be there for one day?  Ride the Staten Island Ferry, it's free and has some of the best views.  It stops right in front of the Statue of Liberty and it isn't far from Tribeca.

I don't think there is a dress code.  But it is a movie premiere at the closing Saturday night of the Tribeca film festival.  I plan to go casual, but nice casual.  I am wearing a skirt, nice shirt, boots.

What, no 4" wedges? I was looking forward to seeing that picture of you towering over Billie... :D

We are going nice casual too, Me with nice jeans or black pants, cute  heels,  nice blouse or top; husband will wear  nice button down shirt, sport jacket, no tie.

But why would you come to NY from England for one day.  You've spent all that money on airfare to come to a city that has so much to offer for one day?  #doesntmakesense #notcommonsenseatall

I know - I was joking on the common sense part!
I bought a flight to Kentucky last summer to see Green Day but obviously it got cancelled, so rather than lose the money I changed it to San Francisco for June this year with the hope that if Green Day announced anything I could change it again and see a show. My flight runs out in June, and because I did spend a lot of money on it I kinda wanted it to go towards something Green Day-ish related, so this seemed like the best use I could find for my flight. Considering I paid for the flight last year, it's not actually costing me that much money. I'm only going for one night because I don't really have the time to go to New York right now, and I had to pick a flight within the price of my last one so it was either one night or a week.

No, I have done some stupid things for Green Day in my life, but even I do not think it is common sense to go all the way to America for one night to watch Billie Joe play about six songs
I'm sure I'll be back soon anyway green day tour

OK so this is exciting, Green Day's publicist released an official confirmation of the new album! Way to go with your blabbing, Billie! So maybe this ups our chances of hearing a new demo on Saturday from Billie? I know that the performance is about Geezer, but he gets so excited, hence the spillage of "secrets" to the fan on Sunday. So maybe he'll get so excited he'll pull out a new song... :)

If he is going to play 6-8 songs, I can't imagine that there are 6-8 songs from Geezer that are all worth playing, especially after we have just watched the film. Obviously he'll play whatever the main ones are, but I can't imagine him doing 8 songs from the film. idk tho but I'm excited :runaround:

I feel like it'd be like 2-3 Geezer, 2-3 Green Day 1-2 RANDOM/UNKNOWN

I would just like to say...

Flying into NYC for the first time in my life tomorrow and I am so fucking excited!

Ill be in around 3 (Depending on delays) and I don't leave until Sunday night around 10:30. Any suggestions for me in regards to NYC activities I absolutely can not leave without doing? I've already noted the staten island ferry and world trade center.

We are so excited too!!! We are driving down early Saturday, it's a 3 1/2 hour drive.  We are going to World Trade Center on Sunday.

Empire State building is really cool, too, if you can still go up it. Also, we love the MOMA if you are into modern art :)

As gene said moma is great, but I personally prefer the top of the rock over the empire state building. If you like more historical than art, the met and the museum of natural history are great.  If you are looking more casual just walking around the village is great.  Walking around central park is cool too

The MOMA happens to be on Friday nights as well, from 4pm-8pm
And it's near Central Park and Rockefeller Center, if you fancy a walk before or after your museum visit.

I arrive tomorrow evening. My bus is scheduled to be in Manhattan around 6:30, 7.

Does anybody know if there will be a red carpet event for Geezer?

The other movies seemed to have red carpet, I saw photos and videos on IG. I don't know for sure if this one does. The venue has one, I read on the description.

Where would the red carpet event take place? And when?

I tried calling today to get some more information as to where we wait in line and how many tickets where actually sold (i know we think 800 but that's just a speculation) I just got sent to voicemail. I'll try calling again tomorrow. If someone picks up I'll ask about a red carpet event too.

Thanks, that would be great!

Definitely Central Park.  MoMa is expensive unless you go for free on Friday night.  The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a SUGGESTED DONATION so you can give $1 to enter.

You could also walk across the Brooklyn Bridge... free, beautiful on a nice day.

Also, don't eat near Times Square.  It's all over priced tourist stuff.  Go down by Union Square/St. Marks for better food at cheaper prices!

There is a permanent red carpet sitting outside the Regal Cinemas in Battery Park with the Tribeca background.  I feel like this is where a majority of the appearances take place, although this is not next to where Geezer is being screened.... so who knows.
