Guest
Not if the character itself has to have certain qualities to them. You can't have a black guy play Spider-Man because the original Peter Parker wasn't black. Doesn't make it racist. Captain America can't be a girl because he's a man in the comics. That's not sexist. I'm fine with James Bond being an American if they want to make him that, but he has to play the role as a British man. That's just his character. Plus, a lot of accents don't really have the right tone to be used by James Bond. Because fictional characters are never ever subject to artistic licence. Kayfabe
BJ has already finished his first film, “Like Sunday Like Rain” directed by our old Naked Angels pal Frank Whaley. Wait, seriously? How am I this out of the loop? Can't wait to watch both of these anyway. He was funny in This is 40 but his role was too short to be significant Not if the character itself has to have certain qualities to them. DookieLukie
There is a black spider man... Yeah, and that comic got cancelled really quickly because everyone was so upset. Guest
Yeah, and that comic got cancelled really quickly because everyone was racists were so upset. Ms Marvel (who has always been a Caucasian) recently got rebooted as an Arabic Muslim. It's currently one of the most successful runs that Marvel has ever had. Green Lantern has been an alien, a Caucasian, and a Muslim African American. Thor has been a woman. Your point is fucking retarded.

DookieLukie
The characters you spoke of were alternate universe characters. They weren't the originals and they didn't embody who the character was. Even the black Spider-Man wasn't Peter Parker. He was some guy that took over later. You can make James Bond a woman (Jamie Bond), but that's a whole new character, not just a portrayal of the original.

There's traditionally been a lot of gender-swapping with actors in Shakespearian plays and the like. I really don't see why it's a problem. Kayfabe
Yeah, and that comic got cancelled really quickly because everyone was so upset. What's so horrible about what I said? Explain. Whiteness is not a defining central quality of any character. Hell, even maleness isn't -- remakes like Watson on that american Sherlock show have shown that enough. What's horrible is you think they are.

sherribomb
Your point was that only British actors can play Bond which is clearly rubbish as is your idea that no American could. Irish people do NOT speak with a British accent any more than Americans do. I'd like to just take this opportunity to point out the fact that the first actor to portray James Bond, Sean Connery, is in fact Scottish. Guest
Alternate universe meaning that they are something different than the original. All those changes were canon. They all exist in the same universe, the changes occurred due to various circumstances. Seriously, this is basic comic/multiverse canon stuff. At least do some research before making incredibly inaccurate and simply wrong statements.

I'm saying that they are not the original character as he/she was conceived. White male Peter Parker is the original Spider-Man, and therefore that is who Spider-Man is. You can change it all you want, but the original state of Spider-Man is the legit Spider-Man. You can reboot it, change the story whatever, but the original is the original and the character in its truest form.

WhiteTim
Im sorry I shouldn't have said just British actors Barbra Broccolli (the producer of the Bond movies) has stated at a Bond convention around the time Casino Royale came out when asked why no American actor has been cast she said Fleming had required certain requirements for licensing Bond to the screen and that he didn't want an American actor as Bond and said his estate has been over the casting choices Really was a useless debate as I doubt Billie would ever be considered for Bond anyways lol
