Rough Trade is rad.

My dad works in Tribeca and the theater is right by where he works.
I doubt there will be people there at 8am unless they want rush tickets, but either way, I'll ask him to check for a line periodically.

That was really cool, you are lucky to have seen them that close.  Yes, I'm excited.  It should be a great time!

I didn't shoot the video that was posted but I was on the floor, about 6 people back. It was cool but short...they only played 5 songs. I feel like Green Day would have done between 10 and 20, haha.

"Thanks for purchasing tickets to the 15th Tribeca Film Festival. ...we're excited to team up with Table8.... As a  special THANK YOU for purchasing your tickets this week, you're invited to enjoy a complimentary year-long membership to the Table8 Dining Club. Annual membership, normally priced at $95, gets you all-inclusive access to dining recommendations, tough-to-book restaurants and chef events. Visit table8.com/join ...."

I mean, the offer looks cool and all but the places seem too fancy for me, and many of them are in the $$$ range or above.

NY has tons of food carts that are relatively inexpensive.  All kinds of food imaginable.  I think you can probably do a bit better than granola bars!

There is always something that is affordable and available on most streets.

Absolutely! Pizza is great, bagels, mediterranean food, pretzels, candied peanuts, smoothies, ice cream, etc.  You name it and you will find a cart for it.

Even $1 pizza can sometimes surprise you.
I mean, it may not be the best, but for $1 it's pretty decent.

If you guys want to go to a really cool place, it is my favorite restaurant in the city.  It is a middle eastern restaurant in the village called The Olive Tree.  The food is amazing, they have a fantastic drink menu and it is not that expensive.  They also have slate tables and give you chalk so you can doodle on the tables and they show Charlie Chaplin films.  IT is very small, but just a really, cool place.  It is on MacDougal Street, in Greenwich Village, not far from NYU and not that far from Tribeca.  If you are coming from out of town you really need to visit the village anyway.

I prefer the thin crust pizza style of NYC. I had pizza in Chicago and it's that deep dish kind, too doughy.  As an Italian married to an Italian, I object to deep dish pizza on moral grounds.

Sounds interesting, do they require reservations? I'm starting to investigate.  We want to eat within reasonable walking distance to Spring Studios. We are staying 2 blocks away from Spring Studios so we'd like to walk everywhere. Any other places to check out?

No reservations it is a,very casual place.  I prefer to walk whenever possible so I consider it walking distance, but is about a mile walk

If it's good deep dish pizza it won't be doughy more like the thickness pie crust with somewhat of the consistancy of regular pizza crust. It just has a lot of cheese and whatever else you get on it.

I've lived in Chicago my whole life and deep dish was never a thing in our house.  Still isn't.  Not my fave.  So sad that people think it's all we have.  There are so many amazing thin crust pizza shops with amazing creative toppings.

What I don't get about NY pizza is the folding.  You fold in and you taste the trust (tasteless) first.  What's up with that?

We always fold our slices but you start and the point and work your way to the crust. Crust eating is optional.  I'm glad to know that Chicago doesn't only have deep dish!
